Movie Maker project does not!
I just went back to edit a film I worked on and nothing, I can see the photos, the music, all, but it does not play. Please, please help!
Hello ska2tra,
· Have you an error when you try to reopen the saved project (game)?
· You save the project after adding media files?
· What is the type of file you are trying to open the project?
· You did changes to the files that you have added as moving them to another location or deleted files?
· Have you created the film on the same computer or with any previous version of Windows?
Your best bet to check this would be to create a different test project and check if you have the same problem. This will help you determine if the problem is related to Movie Maker or the project you created is corrupt.
Also, make sure that you add (import) files that are compatible with Windows Movie Maker.
You can import files with the following file name extensions into Windows Movie Maker to use in your project:
Video files: .asf, .avi, dvr - ms, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, and .wmv
Audio files: .aif, .aifc, .aiff, .asf, .au, .mp2, .mp3, .mpa, .snd, .wav, and .wma
File Picture: .bmp, DIBs, .emf, .gif, .jfif, .jpe, .jpeg, .jpg, .png, .tif, .tiff and .wmf

When you are working on your computer and install a new program, the installation suddenly fails. Now, you're left with a partly installed program. You try to install the program again, but you're unsuccessful. Or, maybe you have problems trying to remove an old program because the installation files are damaged.Do not worry. Windows Installer Cleanup Utility may be able to help. You can use the utility to remove installation information for programs that were installed by using Windows Installer. Remember that Windows Installer Cleanup Utility does not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall on.
B. put the computer in a clean boot, and then install it on the computer by downloading.
To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts. Boot stops interference with other third-party software on the computer.
Steps to perform the clean boot:
1. click on start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER to start the System Configuration utility. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.
2. in the general tab, click Selective startup.

Hello everyone
My Director worked perfectly well a few months ago. But now when I go to run the program, it says "sorry, cannot start movie maker. Make sure that your computer meets the minimum system requirements before you try to start the movie maker, and then try to update the driver for your video card if movie maker does not start"
As I said before, it worked perfectly well months ago. I went into my video driver, right click on the file and the driver is up-to-date. As many windows updates such as humanly possible and everything seems to be updated are waiting for Director. Even went to the forums here on the Microsoft site but still nothing.
I have a feeling, that it may be that my computer, but an update has happened somewhere along the way and that's what wrecked the program.
Does anyone have the solution?

Help! Says the file can't be flat, .mswmm file, but the program made the film.
I used the Windows to make a film, I scanned 458 pictures, done my book of stories, etc. with music - took a month... I "published" and now when I go to open it it says ' cannot be opened because it is not a valid windows movie maker project file? But the Director did, now I can't open it to all, it has an .mswmm file extension! Help, it's a gift for my dad who is going to be 70 and I have not yet a month to make it again!
Hi, I'm having a similar problem but have 1 idea as to why I can't open my .mswmm file. I have two xp machines running sp3, but a pro and a home edition if it matters.
the file.mswmm I am trying to open was created on the moviemaker version 2.1.4028.0 and it still works fine on this machine. On the xp pro machine, he is Director of windows 2.1.4026.0.
So I try to install the movie maker 28 to my other machine I have a lot of files created with the 28 I want to be able to change on the other computer.
=============================================
The project .mswmm file is best to use the system that created
because it takes all the source files... Video clips, Photos, music
files... always be available at the original location.Moving from one computer to another can work if you move as best
all of the source files. When you open the .mswmm file you will see
Xs red instead of thumbnails of the source but if you right click the red Xs
You should be able to navigate to the new location of the files sources and re-
establish the path.Volunteer - MS - MVP - Digital Media Experience J - Notice_This is not tech support_I'm volunteer - Solutions that work for me may not work for you - * proceed at your own risk *.

Hello
I made a video of my Windows Movie Maker project and have tried several times to burn through my Windows DVD Maker with the burning of 7% max. After that, it gets stuck. However, my other several attempts were a result of burning of 1% and it stuck. I've left overnight to see if it was the capacity but the next day it is still 1%. I did other projects without problem. It is only with this project. I don't understand why it won't let me if I used Windows movie maker without problem. The video was originally in AVI, but I was able to convert a 3GP using dvdvideosoft software. Then only, I have done a project using my Windows Movie Maker. The full minutes of this project is 90 minutes, while the DVD that I want to burn it holds 150 minutes. Can you help me? Tried several things and can not find the solution. I don't know that there must be a solution. What or who persuaded allows you to convert AVI, which is supported by Windows, to 3GP, which is not supported by Windows?
If you must, convert AVI to WMV format.
Bypass Windows Movie Maker.
Add the WMV video in Windows DVD Maker directly.
Try to burn now. -
creation of DVD will not burn DVDs for movie maker projects, why?
I have vista 32 bit. I save movie maker projects, then try to burn them on a disk, but it says only as (0r full 98, 99%) in a single box eventually & (cannot create the dvd, an error occurred while burning the DVDs) in the other box... sometimes it burns, but lately it's not at all... I bought a new drive, I did a restore of full operating system, but nothing works... I need some updates?... what I need to change the format?... BTW, my computer seems to not fit either...

Adding my own music to Windows Movie Maker projects & computers mi change project.
I used Windows Movie Maker to make two DVDs for the graduation of daughter gifts. I was almost done and tried to add my own music but can't seem to figure out how. In addition, I discovered that my disc on my computer was not working so I saved my projects to a USB key and went to another computer. When I opened the project format and title pages were there, but all the photos that I spent hours to download and organize projects disappeared. How can I get my projects into DVD, and how do I add my own music in them? If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it. I'm short on time.
The Movie Maker project file does not include the source files
(Photos, video clips, music videos) it simply records the path
the files have been imported since the file/s.Whan you see red Xs where thumbnails used to be
in Movie Maker, it indicates the original source files have
been deleted, moved, renamed or is otherwise not available. If you had a backup file of all source files on your new
system, you can right-click on the red Xs and get access to the
location of the files and restore the path, otherwise
you will have ot start again. With regard to the addition of your own music... If you have any questions
import music files it is probably a problem of format.
Convert music clips on the. WMA format before
import into Movie Maker should provide a better result. There are many converters available on the net... the

How can I add music from songs purchased on itunes to my movie maker project
I can't download music purchased on itunes store for my movie maker project.
Eldemira,
Windows Movie Maker can accept audio files in MP3 or AAC format. Thus the newer files from the iTunes Store should work. But if you bought before mid-2009 and iTunes files have not improved their, they are "protected" and cannot be used.

Similar questions seem to have been requested several times - but with no satisfatory answer that works for me
I saved a project in movie maker and subsequently he published successfully. I lost the published file and now cannot re - open the mswmm file - he says that it was created in a version of movie maker, which is not supported. How access you the project or convert it to a DVD or other format that I can open? Since the creation of the file for over a year, I transferred to a new laptop. Running XP, SP3 currently and no other problems.
