Moving my documents, pictures, music, etc. Records

My laptop has two 30 GB hard drives, and I've heard that move all data files to a drive that is separated from the unit containing windows will improve performance.  In addition, the 'C' drive is completed.
How can I move the location of these folders on the disk "D"?
I'm not sure that there are actually two discs or if there is a drive that is partitioned into two drives.  How can I tell?
One of them is called Acer (c) and a Data (d :)).  Either way, it's for Windows Vista.

http://www.vista4beginners.com/move-user-files-folders-to-another-partition

Above is a good tutorial on what you want to do.

ACERS have a hard, divided into 2 Partitions.

You can also consider doing this with an Acer:

Make a record of large size.
Data on D: before deleting.

See you soon.

    Hello

Another possible option is to try the following.

Click the Start Menu, click your username at the top right.  Right-click on the Documents folder, and then select Properties.  Click on the "Previous Versions" tab and give it time to load (this can take a few minutes).  If you get a list of the previous versions, left-click one of the mentions just to highlight and open - if you see your files listed, close the list and then click on the option 'Restore' in the Properties window.  If no file is listed, try to open another entrance.

Repeat this for your photos, music, video files, etc.

  • Why I can not open My Documents, pictures, music files and video in my libraries

Hello. I just formatted my laptop in an hour ago, and now I can't open all the folders inside the library. I try to Double click on the Documents folder, I hear the sounds by clicking but nothing happens. No error at all. Don't just open. Help, please. I am running Windows 7 32 bit by the way.

In fact, I am referring to your user name folders which are the same as your lists of library / or should be.

You have changed the menu Favorites and probably libraries by default,

Right click the libraries list and click on restore default libraries.

Right-click on Favorites list and click Restore favorite links.

  • Windows Search is no longer class files in Documents/music etc

I have an SSD as my main system drive and a normal player as my data disc for music, etc.  I have My Document / my music, etc. files installs on the data disk using the location of the folders tab to help relocate them on my data disc.  I rechecked my library all point to the correct locations, BUT when I use search programs and files in the start bar, nothing is never categorized in Documents/music etc all I see is the Panel of configuration/programs and files. Files lists some of what I have in My Documents etc.  It's like Windows search completely ignores everything I put in place in libraries today.  I tried various things, reconstruction of my index finger, to transfer my Documents etc back to my SSD.  Microsoft Search seems to just ignore everything now in my library?  Any thoughts?

  • All My Documents, pictures, videos and music files are does not

All My Documents, pictures, videos and music files are does not and I can't access the files and I did nothing to them but when I try and click on it, it says "music.library - ms no longer works, the library can be removed safely from your computer.» Records that have been added will not be affected. I understand that they won't be affected, but how am I supposed to recover all my files?

    Hey Kwame,

I understand that you receive an error saying music.library - ms no longer works.

    Please answer:

    (1) did you do changes on the computer before the show?

In the libraries folder, you will notice that the icons of the folders have changed to something else. This clearly indicates that Windows 8 libraries are no more work and corrupted.

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

    (a) press Windows + E to open Windows Explorer, and then click library.

(b), select all the libraries with which you are faced with a question and select Delete.

    (c) click Yes to confirm.

    (d) after the deletion, right-click on the icon libraries in the left navigation pane and click on restore default libraries.

    (e) in the first attempt, default icons have been restored but if you are unable to access the libraries of Windows 8, delete and restore again to go back to work.

Note: Deleting of a library does not delete the contents of the included folders. However, you need to add or include your folders manually, if necessary.

  • can I back up all my documents, pictures

Hi, I'm gradually moving to Apple, but uses a desktop PC as my main device, I will in time buy an iMac but already use an iPhone, iPad & MacBook. I have the storage free iCloud (5 GB). I have about 600 GB of documents, photos & music that is stored on another cloud, know-how. If I pay for 1 TB, I guess I could download it all to iCloud.

I will be able to access iCloud since all devices?

Second question is; I have a library on the Kindle, is it possible that I can read my eBooks Kindle of the iCloud.

Bravo and thank you for your time and knowledge.

    Tim

Yes, you can access iCloud from any device.

    iOS: built in app iCloud

OS x: open iCloud in preferences

PC: access to your documents and photos uploaded to iCloud on icloud.com

As for your second question, I don't think you can transfer kindle on iCloud books, but there are kindle apps available for download on all kinds of devices.

Love, Cathy

    Hello cathygrasso,

To have a windows.old folder you made a custom at one time Setup.

The windows.old folder contains Photos, music, etc. from the previous installation.

After a Custom Installation, you will need to copy your data.

You don't say if you're worried about losing your data from your current Installation or from the windows.old folder.

Here's how to recover data that is located in the windows.old folder:

"How to restore your personal files after performing an installation of Windows Vista or Windows 7"

This should help you with Vista:

    "Delete files using Disk Cleanup"

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/delete-files-using-disk-cleanup

Read all the options are on the deletion of the temporary Internet files, temporary files, etc. and programs that you do not use and also to delete System Restore Points non-essential, leaving only the last.

I am the administrator of my new computers.  I just upgraded from XP to Windows 7.  Why don't I have access to all parts of my computer?  i.e. folders in documents and settings, etc.  How can I change this?

    Hello

Since Windows XP, in the last several versions of Windows, there are many changes for the names and locations of some Windows system folders .

To ensure compatibility with older programs, these older cases have been replaced by The junction Points. A junction Point is designed to redirect programs more alumni who are hard coded to look for the former name of folder for the new file name and the location in Windows.

An example is the C:\Documents and Settings folder. The new name and the location of this folder is C:\Users. In Windows 8, you will see a folder C:\Documents and Settings , but it should be noted that this record contains a shortcut arrow on the folder icon. He identifies it as a junction.

Junction points all than its guarantee of value everyone = access denied.

Note: Do not attempt to modify the security settings on a junction. This can cause programs to stop work and possibly corrupt the file system.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

    Concerning

  • cannot access the folders of hidden files "Application Data", "My Documents", "Local Settings" etc..

I have a few hidden items in the directory to my windows user account which look like shortcuts, but are of type folder and are named 'Application Data', 'My Documents', 'Local Settings' etc.

If I try to access the folder, it says:

    C:\Users\xx\My Documents\ is not accessible.

    Access denied

Where he comes from and can remove the?

It is, in addition to user accounts by default Windows, single user account on this system, which is of course also an administrator account.

... I also get the same message when I try to access the Documents and Settigs on my C drive...

A clarification would be much appreciated!

These elements are not records - what are the Points of junction. They are there to allow legacy applications to use the new Vista/Windows 7 file structure.

Here is a list of all junction points and Windows 7 files, what they point out:

    C:\Documents and Settings - C:\Users\{user name} \Documents
    Application Data - C:\Users\{user name} \AppData\Roaming
    Cookies - name C:\Users\{user} \AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies
    History - name C:\Users\{user} \AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\History
    Locale - name C:\Users\{user} \AppData\Local
    NetHood - C:\Users\{user name} \AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Network shortcuts
    Print neighborhood - C:\Users\{user name} \AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Printer shortcuts
    {Recent - name C:\Users\{user} \AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Recent
    SendTo - name C:\Users\{user} \AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\SendTo
    Start Menu - C:\Users\{user name} \AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu
    Models - C:\Users\{user name} \AppData\Roaming

    =====================================
MP3 files can be problematic in Movie Maker...
Best bet would be to convert the files to the. WMA
format before you import into Movie Maker.

There are many converters available on the net... the
the following link is an example:

(FWIW... it's always a good idea to create a system)
Restore point before installing software or updates)

    Format Factory (freeware)
    http://www.videohelp.com/tools/Format_Factory
    (the 'direct link' is faster)
(the file you want to download is: > FFSetup295.zip<>
    (FWIW... installation..., you can uncheck
('all' boxes on the last screen)
    (Windows XP / Vista / 7)

First... after the download and installation of Format
Factory... you can open the program and
left click on the toolbar, the "Option" button and
"Select an output folder to" / apply / OK.
(this is where you find your files after they)
    are converted)

Drag and drop your music files on the main screen...

    Select "while"WMA"/ OK...

Click on... Beginning... in the toolbar...

    That should do it...

I have accidenally moved my documents to a flash drive and then deleted from the flash drive. Are they in my computer somewhere?

You may be able to recover from the computer or the flash drive using a program like Recuva file recovery.  For the best chance, do it immediately, before doing anything else on the computer.

  • Once we are on Microsoft 10 all our documents, saved emails, etc. will be at our disposal?

    * O.T. > Windows 10

Once we are on Microsoft 10 all our documents, saved emails, etc. will be at our disposal?

They must be and have been for the most part. That said, some have lost personal data. I strongly suggest that you not only back up everything first, but always backup. Many things can cause loss of data such as a hard disk failure. Do not drive a car with no spare tire.
