mSATA SSD with Ispiron 15 3521

Hello

Is it possible to put additional mSATA in the laptop mentioned SSDS? Tech specifications confirm that the system has 3 SATA controllers, so the answer would be Yes. I would of course difficult.

If so, are there any additional requirement for the drive to work with the laptop?

Just for the record, I would use an SSD of 32 or 64 GB for the system partition and keep the 500 GB HARD drive for the home partition, so the card mSATA.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi mat_eu,

I don't think that the model supports a mSATA drive.

  • X 230 mSATA SSD with possible edge to 3 G?

I want to upgrade my x 230 with an SSD. My model is the NZD79MS with integrated 3 G WWAN and a 500 GB HARD drive. I wonder if I can add an mSATA SSD to use as system disk and keep the HARD disk provided as secondary data drive, or if the mSATA space is occupied with the WWAN module. I really don't want to lose the functionality of 3G or use an external dongle for 3G connectivity, so sacrificing the WWAN module is not an option. I was not able to find this information: can I WWAN and mSATA SSD at the same time on my x 230?

In general, the WWAN card and mSATA card must be in the same housing at the same time, which is not possible.

  • Can I use mSATA SSD with E120?

It's my first day here and I am here you ask for your help.

I have an E120 (3043-RV1; those with Pentium 967 inside) and I want to know if I can use WWAN slot to install an mSATA SSD or not.
In fact, I spoke with a Lenovo technician on the phone today and he said "It is available" and in fact, he proved E320 to work.
However, I found someone thread in another forum, that showed me that the person has no function Nocti OCZ 64 GB in sound.
This uncertainty makes me hesitate to buy an mSATA SSD (I'll buy MyDigitalSSD from abroad).

Could someone please help me figure it out?

It's actually the opposite, if E120 does not mention the mSATA function, then it is not there. and I don't see all the documents mention the mSATA feature the E120.

  • Can I use any mSata SSD with ExpressCache?

    Hello

I'm buying a X230i and I want to increase the performance with a SSD cache drive, as I have on my desk.

I've been watching this disc; Kingston SSDNow v + 30 GB mS200 (http://www.kingston.com/en/ssd/s#sms200s3), that seems advantageous, that need to be or I might as well buy an SSD 'normal '...

But it'll work in a X230i and I can use the ExpressCache software with it?

    Best regards

    Morten

    Hello

I do not have a X230i, but I have a 220 X, and I successfully running Windows 7 and Windows an mSATA 120 GB SSD and Windows 8.0 8.0 and 8.1 of a 240 GB inside mSATA.  So I think that these drives would work in the most recent series of X230i thus, as long as it wasn't anything physically blocking a mSATA card installation.

  • HP Pavilion DM4 - 3002TX Beats Edition supports mSata SSD 128 GB?

    Hello

I want to install a SSD 128 GB mSata in my HP Pavilion DM4 with 1 TB of HDD.

I already read the document "HP Pavilion dm4 Entertainment PC Maintenance and Service Guide"

It is said 'Supports a 32 GB mSATA SSD' and «a 20 GB mSATA SSD»

and when I read on combination mSata SSD with HDD.

"Support either a 750 GB, 5400 RPM, 9.5 mm hard drive + 20 GB mSATA SSD drive
configuration combination or a 500 GB, hard drive 7200 RPM, 9.5 mm + 20 GB mSATA solidstate
    combination drive configuration "

the document does not mix with 1 TB HARD drive.

The laptop supports SSDS this size and combination with 1 TB of HARD drive?

    Thank you

Yes it supports. See page 44 of this manual:

    Repair manuals

Check the service bay to be sure, you have the slot depicted on page 44.

The usefulness of the drive cache mSATA also depends on how much RAM you have, but I guess you have the 4 original concerts or at least no more than 8. Buy a 32 gig WSSD and install it. Restart the computer and let Windows load a driver. Now open the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Console. Go to the performance tab and activate the acceleration. You will be able to choose how many the mSATA to use for acceleration and you can so use it all because that anything left over will not do much good. Restart once or twice to leave the files to migrate the mSATA reader, you should notice a lot, a lot more quick time startup and better performance in general. There is no other practical use for the reader of the WSSD as an accelration cache. It is not really possible to use it as a boot drive, but install the accelerator cache is well worth.

Where do you live? All over the country. We can help you find the drive of the WSSD.

    Thank you.

Now that I have a drive high speed there is no advantage in order to maintain the 16 GB mSATA SSD disk cache?

Answer: IMO, cache ssd is no longer since you already have an equal or faster ssd drive.

I need to remove the cache of 16 GB mSATA SSD drive after the instalation of the 240GB SSD 2.5 "?

Answer: You can deleted or you can format and use it as a data disc.

  • ProBook 6450 b (ATI): the upgrade of my Probook with mSATA SSD

Hello! ProBook 6450 b. I want to upgrade my computer with mSATA SSD drive. I've got slot free mini-PCIE (what is expected for the WWAN card). The problem is that I don't know if this Probook (updated of course!) BIOS supports modyfications like this. Can anyone help?

    Kind regards!

I happen to be sitting here with his cousin the 6530 b working on it for a friend and I can tell you that it is earlier than mSATA WSSD readers. The crack is only for a WWAN card. If you put a disc mSATA in it the computer does not respond.

On the product site, they say that the product is "guaranteed compatible with the Dell XPS One 2720" (http://www.crucial.com/eu/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=13987035A5CA7304).

    Hi pyurik,

Yes, you can do it. I highly recommend that you first create a set of recovery DVD disc or a flash drive.

  • I want to install a second hard drive in my laptop (mSata SSD), so do I create a system dual boot with the same license Windows on each disc.

    Original title: Dual Boot Laptop

I want to install a second hard drive in my laptop (mSata SSD), I have two programs to install that "do not receive the", so I can create a system dual boot with the same license Windows on each disc. I can run only one at a time, and it's the same pc/laptop.

No, you can't, a second facility would be like installing on a second computer, you will need to purchase a second license.

  • X 220 with USB3.0, not possible mSata SSD?

    Hello Board,

We have a few i7 based X 220 Notebooks here, equipped with built-in USB3.0 controller. While we have upgraded successfully variants smaller x 220 with mSATA SSDS from Intel, they are not recognized in i7 Configurations.

We tried it with several SSD Drives and several notebooks, so I do not think that we are talking here, of the defective units, this seems to be a general problem. We also tried versions of different bios, up 1.16

    Anyone else had similar experiences?

My simple hypothesis is the following: all WWAN cards that share the same socket are peripheral based USB, while SSDS mSATA Based PCI Express. My first guess is that the PCI Express Lane connected to Express Mini card making in smaller configurations is cable to the USB 3.0 controller chip. If this is right, I guess there is no solution to our problem.

    Any input appreciated.

    Greetings!

  • EliteBook 8760w: can I put my EliteBook 8760w with an mSATA SSD hard drive using the slot mSATA

I wonder if it should be possible to use an mSATA SSD by installing it in the slot mSATA?

    Product number: LG673EA #AK8 (EliteBook 8760w)

I inserted an mSATA SSD and it fits, but after booting, the computer gives the following message:

    No wireless module supported

The system has detected the wireless installed in the system module is not supported and disabled.

    WWAN Module ID (703)

    I hope it's just a matter of configuration/drivers, etc...

No, it's a physical barrier. Is the accommodation that you turn the player mSATA in p.50 indicated on the manual here? :

    Repair manuals

This port is a card WWAN (cellular modem) only. Your laptop is the Intel Core 2d era generation and utilization of disks mSATA even for cache acceleration did not really catch up to the 3rd generation. The circuits to see and make use of the mSATA drive is simply not present in this laptop. I'm sorry.

  • Satellite M60-139 - upgrade to mSATA SSD via an IDE adapter

    Nice day

more capacity disc having, on the occasion of the passage of Win 7 I've tried alternatives to 80 GB built-in HARD drive.
Use an mSATA to IDE adapter and an mSATA SSD 250GB.
Install Win 7, system drivers, function ok.

Because I don't know if the types of other manufacturers may be mentioned in this forum, I did not provide all the details on this subject, but you give information that Config. with me is running...

  • Portege R930 - upgrade the mSATA SSD succssfull

Just briefly, I wanted to report an SSD upgrade.

When I got my Portege R930 (PT331E, i7) two years ago, I changed the HD to a PRO 840 Samsung SSD 512 GB (big improvement). Now, this SSD is too small (photos!) and I wanted to increase the capacity up to 1 TB.

But instead of a new SATA, I decided to go for an mSATA + adapter SATA I felt an mSATA unit would be more "evolutionary" - next update of the laptop for me would be a Portege Z, who use mSATA.

So I bought a Samsung 850 EVO 1 TB with a Delock adapter/converter mSATA SSD, made a clone of the Apricorn cable and the software switched the SSD and everything works fine (actually a little faster )! At first I tried to use the clone with software from Samsungs migration but this didn t work, maybe I didn t the right version.

-Now I have a lager SSD that will live longer than my R930. Please note that I'm not an expert with computers - just a happy user Toshiba! Thanks for a good forum with my good ideas!

    Concerning
    / Anders

So, I bought a Samsung SSD 850 EVO mSATA 1 TB whole with a converter/adapter Delock...
    .. .and everything works fine

    Good news Lao!
Thanks a lot for the comments...

I also upgraded my laptop with a 250 GB SSD drive and now I think of a larger SSD... I should consider your solution now...

  • mSATA SSD + 2.5 "HD on Tecra Z40 - B - 12 p

    Hello

soon I'll be getting a laptop Toshiba Tecra Z40 - B - 12 p, reference PT45GE-06S03F7J, it comes with a 250GB SSD mSATA. I want to know if it is possible to install a second hard disk 2.5 "additional or I have to choose between having a regular vs 2.5 mSATA SSD" HD.

    Thank you.

Well, some models are equipped with an mSATA SSD instead of a hard drive.
But there is only one place to connect the hard drive SSD SSD/HDD or mSATA.

In the case of mSATA SSD drive, there is a special mSATA HOLDER that lets connect you the mSATA SSD to a 2.5 SATA controller ".
