MSFT CA vs ASA CA integrated
I'm trying to VPN configuration to users authenticated with digital certificates for authentication factor 2. With a 5510 (upgraded to 5515) with access to Microsoft 2008r and 2012, which would be a better fit the Microsoft service or service built-in CA on the SAA? (required for users under 25 VPN but well Setup for growth).
Thank you
Jeremy
You want to get more benefits out of MS-backup CA., scale, management, flexibility to use for other purposes if necessary (without thread/dot1x for example) are some of the benefits. The local CA works however and is regarded as more cost-effective.

ASA SHA256 integrity for proposal of IPSEC IKEV2
Hi team,
I tried to configure SHA256 integrity for IPSEC IKEV2 and SHA256 proposal wasn't available, the version that we run is 9.0 (3). The model of the SAA is 5540 (Legacy). Could someone please help us identify if the same support in the firewall of the inheritance if we improve the IOS in 9.1 (6) as this is the last version available for the box.
ASA(config-IPSec-Proposal) # integrity Protocol esp?
Options/IPSec proposal mode controls:
MD5 md5 hash value

upgrade of firepower that run in asa integrated
I have a x-5506 running 9.5.1 asa and 5.4.1 sfr.
I have had't used for a while and ran the Manager of the sfr cmd line configuration command. I read that the DB variable for sfr consecutive in a 5506 may be damaged. It seems there because it will not register with my asa now.
If I go to configure > local > register he is stuck on waiting to record. Even on the sfr cmd line.
It is a device that I got through a course less than a year yet. Is that mean that one is not allowed forever to update or download the installation images? can I register to my account?
Hello
When you use Configuration manager to SFR, it expects to sign up to a power of fire aka Defense center management center.
See this article.
http://www.Cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/security/firesight-management-...
So once you configure the manager address at sfr, you must complete the registration process in separate Manager as well.
If you are not running a separate management centre, then I believe that you want to manage the ASA and SFR module using ASDM.
You can do this, but for this you don't need configuration manager. So if you do this, remove the handler by using the command "configure Manager delete" and make sure that the computer running ASDM can reach sfr module and vice versa.
See this article to make sure that you are running scenarios.
http://www.Cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/security/IPS-sensor-software-v...
See this article for more information on how you can use ASDM to fire module /SFR Power Manager

Integration of Websense with Cisco ASA
Hello guys,.
Little experience with a Cisco ASA so I want help from you.
I have in my network of Websense solution worked with ASA firewall. It works perfectly fine, most discover that the ASA when working with Websense it sends only HTTPS IPthis causes some trouble in the report generated by Websense contained only the IP addresses instead of the names of the sites.
Someone has already managed to integrate with Websense and did not go for it?
Thank you all
The reason why it only contains IP instead of the URL for the HTTPS traffic is that HTTPS is encrypted and the URL is in the encrypted session, so you see only IP instead of the URL.
If Websense support HTTPS decryption, you'd be able to see the actual URL.

Hi all
I try to incorporate some ASA (8,6) with ACS (5,7), here is the configuration of the SAA.
SH run | in aaa
RADIUS Protocol RADIUS AAA server
GANYMEDE + Protocol Ganymede + AAA-server
AAA-server GANYMEDE + (management) host 10.243.14.24
GANYMEDE + LOCAL console for AAA of http authentication
authentication AAA ssh console GANYMEDE + LOCAL
Console telnet authentication GANYMEDE + LOCAL AAA
AAA accounting console GANYMEDE + ssh
AAA accounting command 15 GANYMEDE privilege +.
Console telnet accounting AAA GANYMEDE +.
AAA authorization exec-authentication server
AAA authorization GANYMEDE + loCAL commandThe problem is that I can get connected to ASA, but I can't type all commands in the CLI, I get the error message "failure of command approval.
I have the same sets of commands and the shell profiles created for switches and it works perfectly.
This is the behavior of ACS journals
1. once I am having authenticated, I can see the logs in ACS with my username
2 but when I type any commnds, is put down my permission and I see in the newspapers of the authorization of the CSA that this username is "enable_15".Can someone help me identify what the problem is
Thank you
ReverchonThis happens when we have control permission enabled on ASA and try to run any command level 15 on SAA. To correct this problem you must check enable authentication of a user against GBA / GANYMEDE.
AAA authentication enable console LOCAL + GANYMEDE
After above listed licensing order, ASA will start to check the enable password against ACS/Ganymede and you use Ganymede activate the password that we can put on by user.

Hello
We currently have an ASA firewall, where users authenticate using RSA tokens. When we create a new user in LSF, the user name must match their user name of the AD. If the ASA use RSA for authentication radius server.
For our remote access VPN, we have several strategies Group on the ASA and ASA rights holders, the correct group policy based on the associated users in RSA RADIUS profile.
We would now abandon completely the RSA and use AD for authentication and an association of profiles. Can anyone tell if this would be simple. I want ASA to authenticate the VPN with AD users and assign a profile so that every user uses the appropriate group strategy
Thank you
Hello
It is possible to assign group policy with AD authentication for users in a particular group on AD. I guess it's good that AD you will mainly use LDAP for the same. Please go through the following links on more information:

Cisco ASA with Microsoft LDAP integration
Hello
I need to integrate a Cisco ASA 5510 version 8.3 with Microsoft LDAP to authenticate IPSEC VPN.
Following the procedures described in the documents below:
http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/customer/docs/security/ASA/asa83/configuration/guide/access_aaa.html
Does not. Turn on debugging ldap 255.
The result was that debugging is attached.
Try to connect using the softerra ldap browser and see if it works or not.
Kind regards

: endHello
There are some clear problems I see on a quick glance. These are not related to the actual VPN configuration but rather the NAT configurations.
All your configuration of NAT CLI format above are configured as manual NAT / double NAT in Section 1. This means that the appliance NAT configurations have been added to the same section of the NAT configurations and scheduling of the NAT inside this Section rules is the cause of the problem for the L2L VPN connection for some.
Here are a few suggestions on what to change
ASA1
Minimal changes
the object of the LAN network
192.168.10.0 subnet 255.255.255.0
being REMOTE-LAN network
255.255.255.0 subnet 192.168.100.0
NAT (inside, outside) 1 static source LAN LAN to static destination REMOTE - LAN LAN
no nat source (indoor, outdoor) public static NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.10.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.10.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.100.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.100.0_24 non-proxy-arp-search of route static destination
That means foregoing is first of all create 'object' that contain the local LAN and remote LANs. Then, it creates a NAT0 rule and adds to the top rules NAT. (number 1). It is essentially of at least one of the problems preventing the VPN operation or traffic that cross.
Finally, we remove the old rule that generated the ASDM. It would do the same thing if it has been moved to the top, but I generally find the creation of the 'object' with descriptive names easier on the eyes in the long term.
Other suggestions
These changes are not necessary with regard to the VPN L2L. Here are some suggestions how to clean a part of NAT configurations.
PAT-SOURCE network object-group
source networks internal PAT Description
object-network 192.168.10.0 255.255.255.0
object-network 192.168.20.0 255.255.255.0
object-network 192.168.40.0 255.255.255.0
NAT interface (it is, outside) the after-service automatic PAT-SOURCE dynamic source
No source (indoor, outdoor) nat Dynamics one interface
no nat (wireless, outdoors) source Dynamics one interface
no nat (servers, outside) no matter what source dynamic interface
The above configuration creates a "object-group" that lists all internal networks that you have dynamic PAT configured so far. It then uses the ' object-group ' in a command unique 'nat' to manage the dynamic PAT for all internal networks (with the exception of printers who had nothing at first). Then we remove the old PAT dynamic configurations.
Contains the command "nat" "car after" because it moving this "nat" configuration to the bottom of the NAT rules. For this reason its less likely to cause problems in the future.
network of the SERVERS object
subnet 192.168.20.0 255.255.255.0
network of the VPN-POOL object
192.168.50.0 subnet 255.255.255.0
NAT (servers, external) 2 static static source of destination of SERVERS SERVERS VPN-VPN-POOL
no nat (servers, external) static source NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.20.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.20.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.50.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.50.0_24 non-proxy-arp-search of route static destination
The above configuration is supposed to create a NAT0 configuration for traffic between the network and the pool of Client VPN server. To my knowledge the old configuration that remove us is not used because the traffic would have matched PAT rule dynamic server yet rather than this rule which is later in the NAT configurations and would not be addressed.
no nat source (indoor, outdoor) public static NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.10.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.10.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.1.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.1.0_24 non-proxy-arp-search of route static destination
It seems to me that network 192.168.1.0/24 is not configured from anywhere in your network. Therefore, the above 'nat' configuration seems useless, can be deleted. If I missed something and its use in then of course do not remove it.

NAT (inside, outside) 1 static source LAN LAN to static destination REMOTE - LAN LAN
no nat source (indoor, outdoor) public static NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.100.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.100.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.10.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.10.0_24 non-proxy-arp-search of route static destination
Other suggestions
PAT-SOURCE network object-group
object-network 192.168.100.0 255.255.255.0
NAT interface (it is, outside) the after-service automatic PAT-SOURCE dynamic source
No source (indoor, outdoor) nat Dynamics one interface
The above configuration is supposed to do the same thing with the other ASA. Although given that this network contains only a single subnet it cleans the "nat" configurations exist that much. But the order of the "nat" configurations is changed to avoid further problems with the NAT order.
no nat source (indoor, outdoor) public static NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.100.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.100.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.1.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.1.0_24 non-proxy-arp-search of route static destination
It seems to me that network 192.168.1.0/24 is not configured from anywhere in your network. Therefore, the above 'nat' configuration seems useless, can be deleted. If I missed something and its use in then of course do not remove it.
I suggest trying the changes related to VPN L2L first NAT0 configurations and test traffic. So who gets the work of connectivity, then you could consider changing other NAT configurations. There are other things that could be changed also in what concerns THAT static NAT servers but that probably better left for another time.
Hope this makes any sense and has helped

Custom sigs IPS on IPS solution will END (ASA - CX)?
Hi people,
I am trying to determine if it is possible to create custom sigs IPS on the ASA-CX module? Not ASA + SPI legacy combo, but the ASA + combo ASA-CX (Application detection, IPS, Web filtering).
I couldn't find anything in the doc that says that this is possible.
Thank you!
Neil
No, these features are not available with the EPI FINIRONT. Cisco currently recommended as the classic IPS (ASA autonomous device module) for customers who need this capability.
Expect this to change significantly in the coming year, although more the SourceFire as technology is integrated in the ASA product line.

ASA 5525 x, ASA CX filtering IPS 9.2
Hello
Recently, a customer migrated to ASA 5525 x, ASA OS 9.1 (1). The task now is to implement the prevention of intrusions and keep the module ASA CX. What I read do now two software modules integrated and CX can run simultaneously on an ASA, so my first question is "is it true?".
Also, I see that the ASA CX 9.2 (1.1) Build 48 is the first version that offers filtering IPS. Does anyone know how far is this real IPS module CX feature? I find nothing spesiffic about it. In the version "ASA CX and Cisco first 9.2 Security Manager", it is said: "next generation filtering IPS is a service allowed separately...» ». Is this means that if I upgrade from filtering ASA CX 9.2 the IPS will not be activated? What type of license is required if this is the case?
The question of the bottom line is if there is another way to keep the CX and IPS, other than running the ASA CX on the firewall and adding the separate network IPS device.
Thank you in advance.
Release notes for 9.2 enter features.
http://www.Cisco.com/c/en/us/TD/docs/security/asacx/roadmap/asacxprsm_new_features.html#wp43613
The datasheet shows you which refers to order:
I ordered L-ASA5525-AW5Y = previously and I wanted to add the piece of NG IPS to this. I was told to order L-ASA5525-IPS-SSP. It is NOT the correct part number pointing our CX and IPS modules cannot operate simultaneously.
Datasheet of STROKE and STROKE or WSE, WSE account, FPS. No individual licenses. So IF you have already ordered the STROKE and WSE that part I'm not sure what part number you need to order to only add the addresses IP, but the IPS NG will be on the CX module.
So yes you can run STROKE, WSE and IPS on the CX module without buying an extra IPS.

ASA with firepower and Licensing Service
Hello
If I buy an ASA with the power of Fire Service (e.g. 5516-X) should which licenses I buy?
I understand that I need to order a license for the Service of firepower. E.g. IPS, URLS, and AMP.
Should I order a license management FireSIGHT, too? The centre of mandatory FireSIGHT management? This license is necessary?
Concerning
You will need the license of control (CTRL). It is free and automatically included with any package of power of fire SKU (i.e. ASA5516-FPWR-K9).
Then you must add the IPS, URLS or AMP (or combination of both) services in term 1, 3 or 5 years.
FireSIGHT Management Center is not required for entry-level (5506, 5508 or 5516) models. It is optional on those you can use the entry firesight level integrated in ASDM for the model.
For all other models, it is necessary. If you manage more than a simple ASA (even an HA pair) it is recommended even for the entry level models that you will be so power sync policies through them all.

ASA 5505. VPN Site-to-Site does not connect!
Hello!
Already more than a week there, as we had a new channel of communication of MGTSa (Ontario terminal Sercomm RV6688BCM, who barely made in the 'bridge' - had to do the provider in order to receive our white Cisco Ip address), and now I train as well more that one week to raise between our IKEv1 IPsec Site-to-Site VPN tunnel closes offices.
Configurable and use the wizard in ASDM and handles in the CLI, the result of a year, the connection does not rise.
Cisco version 9.2 (2), the image of the Cisco asa922 - k8.bin, Security Plus license version, version 7.2 AMPS (2).
What I'll never know...
Debugging and complete configuration enclose below.
Help, which can follow any responses, please! I was completely exhausted!Config:
Output of the command: "sh run".

Please explain why it is that I don't want to work?Hello
When the IPSEC tunnel does not come to the top, the first thing comes to my mind is to run a tracer of package from the CLI and the phases in it. Please run this command from your firewall side and share the output. I've just compiled this command with the random ip address and ports of your given range.
Packet-trace entry inside tcp 10.1.72.2 1233 10.1.61.2 443 detailed
