  If you haven't run a complete diagnosis of the hardware, F12 repeatedly at startup will help you do.  You can also watch to see if you have crash dump files (WhoCrashed is a good utility for their sight-reading).

  If you are still under warranty, your battery will be covered by the warranty on the equipment you bought your computer.
