multiple paths to the same file come in research

When I search for a file, I get the multiple as paths:

C:\Users\Bill\My Documents\... file

and

C:\Documents and Settings\Bill\My Documents\ drop...

The "Documents and Settings" folder contains a shortcut arrow.  There is only one folder for each of the folders in the path starting with 'Bill', that is, they are the same file in two ways.  That is this folder shortcut to, do I need, can I get rid of him and still have my files?  Have no idea how it got there.

This is the direct download link to the usefulness of the junction box , wait approximately 5 seconds or more for the dialog "Save file" to appear, the name of the file is Junction100.zip (622 KB).  This kind of utilities are sometimes reported as virus by AV software, as long as you know the origin of the file and understand what the utility is supposed to do you will be sure to run the file, what is mentioned on the web site of the author:

Note that this utility has undergone some fake antivirus alerts, including Norton and McAfee. The Manager of coding point of view there is nothing much that we can do about it, it seems as if some suppliers of software antivirus today write code if the trigger-happy it signals to ANY program that makes the fundamental system changes (which this must do, or it would be of no use!) as potential malware. Especially, the best AV products don't produce any these false alerts.

Otherwise I have no way of knowing what permissions have been changed on your machine and that I have to post a playfile SubInACL to restore the permissions... believe me, the utility from the link above is much easier to use!

  • Is it possible to have multiple windows of the same file open?

    Hello

I was wondering if it is possible to have multiple windows of the same file open at the same time in Windows XP?

    Thank you!

    Dave

You're welcome, Dave. If you click directly on a file, it will be open only once.  That's why I gave an example of starting with work stations and by navigating to the folder (open indirectly).  You can access a the desktop folder in C:\Documents and Settings\\Desktop.

  • How can we prevent the Explorer of research according to the records of multiple copies of the same file?

Several slightly different copies of the same file, but subfolders will appear in Windows 7 when you perform a global search for files with specific attributes (e.g., size, date, extension).  If you delete a file, you really are by deleting all the files reported.  What are the steps to perform a search and don't report the real file rather than multiple versions of shadow or shortcut of the file?

    Example:
Research on all files on the C drive beyond 1 GB, I receive a report in which there are 4 files
    games_file. ISO 7,084,400,688 1/1/2011 12:00 am a C:\Documents and settings\COMPUTER\Documents\Stuff\Apps
    games_file. ISO 7,084,400,688 1/1/2011 12:00 am a C:\Documents and settings\COMPUTER\My Documents\Stuff\Apps
    games_file. ISO 7,084,400,688 1/1/2011 12:00 am by C:\Users\COMPUTER\Documents\Stuff\Apps
    games_file. ISO 7,084,400,688 1/1/2011 12:00 am has C:\Users\COMPUTER\My Documents\Stuff\Apps

WOW - I can save 21 GB deleting 3 files, right?  Nope, it's all the same physical file.  It should be reported as such.

    Hello

I suggest to check indexed locations and make sure that duplicate records are not explicitly added. If they do, delete or rebuild the search index and check if the problem is still there

    Change advanced indexing options

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/change-advanced-indexing-options

If the problem persists, then create a new user account and verify.

    Create a user account

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/create-a-user-account

Create a test file in the same location, and check if the same file is returned multiple times.

If this isn't the case, then follow the steps mentioned in the link to transfer data from the old user account for the new user account.

How can I scan multiple pages on the same computer file on my HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus?  Currently, it will scan each page to a separate computer file only.  Scan a document and then when asked if I want to scan another page I say Yes and the scanner.  However, they still attend separate computer files.

  • Multiple copies of the same file

I don't know it is a simple question, but can I, or rather, how I can have multiple copies of the same pdf file open?  I want to be able to compare pages, for example looking at a figure by reading the description in the text.  I tried the obvious way to open the file again, but it bounced just to the already open window.  Thanks for any help.

Or try the menu option: window > Split - it will allow you to see the two views of the same document.

  • Multiple images with the same file name no doubt prevent export

iMac running OS X El Capitan v10.11.6; Photos 1.5

I'm trying to export approximately 331 images and I get an error report saying that only 169 of the exported images due to the inability to create files for 159 of the images.  Then the report gives me the names of files of the first 100 images for which files were not created.  After looking at many images that would not create a file, I realized that, in any case, there was at least one, if not several, other images with the SAME EXACT FILE name as the image in question.  I can't change the names of files by right click on "info".  I tried to export the images and change the names of files to export using the sequential option and the option of album name - always having exactly the same problem.  I even tried not to export an image at once and change the name of the file individually or no available. Is there a work around that? I desperately need to export those specific images. I am trying to create a photo album for shown to mothers who choose a family with which you want to place their child/ren for adoption. I'm at my wit's end.  The kicker is I'm moving towards trying to export all my pictures, and that's going to be a HUGE problem in course for me, so I really hope that there is a way around this question somewhat simply. I am a hobby photographer and use the computer for businesses and crafts.  I've seen a few posts that included answers referencing "AppleScript" - I have no idea how to do something like that.

From here on I will DEFINITELY ensure that my Canon continually numbers the names of image files and automatically resets.  For the other photos other than Canon, is possible to rename images during the import of the lot?

All advice and help will be GREATLY appreciated!

Finder has the ability to rename files with various models of lot.  Simply select all the files to rename, right-click one of the selected files, choose 'Rename X points... '. ", and then set the options and click on the button"Rename ".

  • IMac is not able to share multimedia files with multiple users on the same computer.

We just bought a new IMac that we were very excited.  We have phones Apple and iPads, replacement and ten year with a new Mac old PC made since.

Now, the trouble begins. For more than ten years Windows had several usernames on the same machine and have been able to have a shared folder only for music, pictures and video that my iTunes program and others could acsess and share from several user names. This kept all in one place for new photos families by me or my wife and our 30 gigabytes of music that comes from our CDs was available at bolt of us. Now in train to implement on IMac should be easy but is impossible.  after transferring the music to my login information, it cannot acsess all files on my login. I am not even able to share or provide his acsess. I can move the iTunes folder to my shared folder. She can get acsess now but iTunes says that the library file is locked. I worked with care from Apple on the phone for that sold, but they believe it will not be possible without creating two copies of the 30 gigabytes of music for each of us. who would take more hard drive when it failed too.  Sharing is not any help. These files were before iTunes. I'm not pay 30 dollars a month to store in icloudcor use a google reader slow to the Internet connection when everything's fine here. Apparently Applow programmers do not believe in sharing of multimedia files between two users on the same device, even if a PC does that very well. My choice here is so far have duplicates of all the photos, music and videos loaded on the disc for me and my wife, charge all the media for an external hard drive which for some reason any all Apple programs will share, or return the mac to another PC that will be able to make several connections with sharing music and photos. Apple if you are reading this you are 10 years behind on that. Not everyone is born in the last five years and bought their music on iTunes to be able to use home sharing. Home sharing cannot help this. your applications should be able to be told to use the media files shared without import copies to readers of the user. I am very disappointed. Someone else has any ideas for that?  I have pictures, not iPhoto. I have a week more to be able to return it. I'm not interested in making a fake account that is always connected to share or maintaining of me constantly connected. It should have been easy, I had to be happy to play with new software.

Photos, iPhoto and iTunes libraries must appear on an external hard drive that is formatted as shown below to be used by multiple users on the same Mac:

So get a properly formatted external HD and move your iPhoto/pictures of her as well as your iTunes library.  This way all your iMac users can access and use both libraries.

An alternative to the external HD method is to partition your internal hard drive into two partitions, one for libraries.  It is formatted as shown above and be large enough to contain the libraries and allow the expansion of libraries.

  • I use Thunderbird on multiple computers to the same gmail account but I have a laptop with little memory, so I need this laptop only to download a few files

I use Thunderbird on multiple computers to the same gmail account. I have a small laptop with very little memory and it runs out of disk space when it downloads all my folders. I would only download some of my file on the laptop, but keep all the folder on my other computers because they do not have problems with disk space. When I unsubscribe records in 'manage folder subscriptions' then he cancels his subscription on all my computers, not just the laptop. When I go to 'Properties' on the folder and sets 'retention individual police' these settings are not applied at all. What can I do?

All of the messages in each folder will appear in your message list. But this does not mean all the bodies of messages are downloaded, if you have properly configured the parameters of the disk. If what I described above stuck in your settings then Message body should be downloaded only 'on demand' when you click on each message.

To confirm this install the addon glodaquilla, which has a column "on the disk" that indicates if a message is on the disk. If you want, after you have installed the addon set Thunderbird to work offline, so it does not download message body when you click in the list of messages.

  • Mac on Windows SMB shares - IDLK files that allows multiple users to access the same file endangered

    Hello

We have an agreement with Adobe volume licensing and have about 16 licenses Adobe CS6 all used on Mac computers. The network focuses on Windows servers and actions that Macs connect to the through an SMB connection on the server. The question we have is that when you open an InDesign file, sometimes it will not create an IDLK file (or sometimes it will create one, but it will disappear a few seconds later) and it allows several people to view the same file at the same time. Of course two or more people working on the same file can, will and caused problems with crash documents without knowledge to do so.

Someone else has experienced this or have any ideas as to what might help us solve this problem?

    Thank you

There will be no file locking for an earlier version, until it is saved as a

    CS6 file.

For the rest, this looks like a problem with permissions on the server.

  • Is it possible to set up for multiple users on the same computer to avoid entering the e-mail and the password

    Original title: Multi users

Is it possible to set up for multiple users on the same computer to avoid entering the email and password every time that a new user want to check emails?

    Hello

Welcome to the community forums of Microsoft and thanks for posting the question. According to the description, you need help in the creation of multiple user accounts. I've surely you will help find a solution on the issue.

What is the operating system installed on the computer?

User accounts, several people can easily share a single computer. Each person can have a separate user account with unique settings and preferences, such as a screen saver or desktop background. User accounts control files and programs users can access and what types of changes users can make to the computer. As a general rule, you'll want to create standard accounts for most computer users.

If you use Windows Vista or Windows 7, see the article below:

    64 GB RAM (dif mobo) or 6 core i7 - 39 * 0 K CPU would make a difference?

Independent - when I pan at the bottom right of the image there is a mismatch in the display. Maximum of 20 s, regardless of the video settings.

Is there an easy way to calculate the needs of video ram based on the size of the image? Prefer the ATI - wanted to try v9800 4 GB.

    Tried NVIDIA QUADRO 6000 6 PCI-E GB-looks no better.

I remember reading that with SSDS, having separated for OS, TMP, CD readers is more adventageous... True or false?

I'm grabbing at straws to figure out what that are my bottlenecks and how to eliminate the.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions or advice.

I can't thank you enough for this screenshot of your settings.

It was the "preview image" that cost me all the extra gain time.

I've changed that 'Never save' and the same file saves in 62 seconds.

Curiously, this setting also reduces the time to open the file of 25% (65sec.).

Because not even Photoshop seems to be able to display said preview image, no loss at all.

It is ok! 40,000 x 40 000 picture - here come me!   HA

  • Flash Player playing multiple tones at the same time... even when the browser is closed

I recently updated my Flash drive to 11.3 (latest version). When I go to a site that uses Flash (YouTube, for example), I'll start the video and then 10 seconds later, I get multiple tones at the same time. They all look like advertising, or TV stations. Even when I close my browser, the sound continues. When I opened my sound mixer, it is a "program" listed in "winrscmde", who plays both audio channels. When I go to the Task Manager, "winrscmde" presents itself as a svchost.exe * 32. When I stop this service the sound stops. It will resume again when I access a flash site. When I uninstall Flash Player 11.3, it stops.

I am running Windows 7-64 bit with latest updates. THAT IS TO SAY 9.0.8112.16421

    Any help would be appreciated.

Well, I think I solved the problem.

    I found this topic:

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic442928.html

On the second post down, the poster recommended download killer TDS winrscmde.exe is disquised as svchhost.exe in the \windows\system32 folder (you click on 'Properties', then the 'Détails' tab and check the original file name... If it is false, it will say winrscmde.exe under the original name).

I also ran the program aswMBR as well as FixTDSS (http://www.symantec.com/content/en/us/global/removal_tool/threat_writeups/FixTDSS.exe).

That seems to fix the problem. Just reinstalled Flash and do not get the same questions. The svchost.exe in the \windows\system32 folder is legitimate!

Hope this helps someone else with the same problem.

  • Multiple copies of the same mail and "unresponsive".

I have fought with Thunderbird for about a week now and have had no chance to solve my problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I tried all the suggestions on the FAQ page.

    Here are my symptoms:
-Make multiple copies of the same email with the same time stamp.
    -Not pulling new e-mail messages.
-Whenever I try to navigate upwards or downwards in the Inbox or open an email TB will does not.
-J' got warnings from the following script:
    Script: resource://gre/modules/XPCOMUtils.jsm:323
    Script: chrome://messenger/content/mailWindow.js:179

    Here is what I tried:
-J' completely removed and reinstalled TB (and recovered my profile).
    -J' have compressed files.
    -J' rebuilt the database world.
-From TB in safe mode does not seem to make a big difference.

Fortunately, I have access to webmail via my ISP and it works fine.

    Thank you!

McAfee has released a faulty update, please contact them for support on changing the setting to something that actually works.

I saw a poster here today who used their support chat and they 'fixed a few adjustment' and now all is good.

  • [Q] can Vision track multiple objects in the same area - objects that might cross?

    Hello

Sorry for this long title, but this is my question.

Can Vision track multiple objects in the same area - objects that could cross?

Because I'm able to do, extraction of XY, but it seems that "IMAQ County objects ' don't follow framework after but framework opposed, but extract the coordinates XY always in the same way, as for example from top and whenever he sees an object, it retrieves the XY, but if the objects pass through (then it will extract XY without worrying that the objects was the earlier but just based on"scan from top to bottom").

That's why I open this topic in the forum of Vision no part: http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/Sort-XY-by-closest/td-p/2440428

    Thank you

    Sébastien

    Thank you for your response.

My problem is that we work with very small insects and the shape/color is the same for all.

Then the solution is: Let's wait for "IMAQ County objects 3 ' then .

    Thank you
