MY c DRIVE is nearly full. Can I use my external hard drive because it has a lot of space
My ' it shows only 123 MB available disc. I have a 500 GB external hard drive, but am not sure how to use it to free up space on my drive "C".
Any help would be much appreciated.Roy WarnerHi Roy,
Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.
The description of the problem you have provided, I understand that your C drive is full and trying to move some information on external hard drive.
I will certainly help you in this matter.
If you have data files in the C drive, you can go ahead and move them to the external hard drive. You will not be able to move the files to the program on the external hard drive.
In order to get the free space in C drive, you can go ahead and uninstall the software bit that you use it often.
See the link.

You can also delete files using disk cleanup, which would reduce the number of unnecessary files on your hard disk to free up disk space.

How can I move files on the D drive to free up space?
I have an acer laptop. Space on my hard C drive is full but my D drive is empty. I want to move the files to the hard disk so that I can free up space.
Are you sure drive D: is empty? This drive is usually the recovery partition. If it's around 10 GB he hid files restoring your computer, and you should not make changes to this.
Copy a file (and then delete the original):

How do I move files HD internal to external hard drive
My internal HD has about 21 remaining G that prevents me from creating a slide show with music. I anticipate the purchase of an external hard drive to free up space on my internal HD, which automatically backs up everything. I would also like to delete some of the files are no longer needed. I think that some of my iTune files have been left out due to lack of space. It seems that every time that I have access to my iTunes library that it backs up the session, and that means there are layers of libraries being backed up. I don't want to remove the original library and I noticed that there are layers of folders previous library, previous library eating. I do not know the importance of these and do not want to recover as much of my iTunes library I can.
Just drag and drop. Nothing more complex than that, of course, you will have to format the external hard drive first using disk utility. The Mac OS extended (journaled) format and then drag and drop.

How can I move files system recovery to the original location?
I use Windows 7 on a HP Pavilion P6000 series. I believe that the Recovery Manager created Windows System Recovery Files folder on the C: drive (from .wim files) created on an external drive, and I want to move them to the original location. Just copy or move everything to the C: drive, or is it an executable program that does this?
Found this previous post - I guess that's the solution...

The backup that is used to recover only restores the files in a folder, leaving the owner to move. I agree, not the application of backup more useful, but better than nothing I guess.

How can I move files and leave a shortcut.lnk pointing to the new location.
I'm trying to move only a TON of old files to a hard drive to free up space to backup. I can't empty just them, it's a working environment with integrated (and archaic) process. They must be able to find the new files without go hunting for them. How can I move all the files that has not been changed since 2 years and leaves a link behind that points to the new location?
I used successfully a utility call NoClone. The goal is to search for duplicate files, but it has a way to specify any search string (date function as you requested) and then move all files to a new location, leaving behind .lnk files
I used it to clear space on file shares, any movement toward a archive read-only stored on a NAS that gets backed up once per year. In this way, nothing changes on the NAS of the end user (no need to save often). If you need to edit the file, they copy him on its original location.
If you have a lot of files, download the business version.
In recent years I finally used, so I don't know if there is a newer version that might not work as did the old version.

How can I move files to the system folder?
Hi all
I was wondering how to move files to the system folder. With the update to El Capitan and the former program is no longer works and the developer suggests moving some files on the system folder that should fix it, but even if an administrator account I don't have write access to the system-> library folder where they need to go. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you!
Steve
In short: you do not have. The folder/System is only for Apple. The new protections in El Capitan make it impossible for you to place the files.
This is what the folder/library for: install additional components to the system, but keeping them separated from the basic installation.
What software are you trying to run? What files we told you to move? I'm curious to know what type of developer will tell you to put the files in / System.

MOV files will interrupt in Movie Maker... the best bet is to try and
convert to a format like WMV.The following freeware can convert:
(FWIW... it's always a good idea to create a system)
Restore point before installing software or updates)Format Factory
http://www.pcfreetime.com/
(FWIW... installation..., you can uncheck
('all' boxes on the last screen)First... after the download and installation of Format
Factory... you can open the program and
left click on the toolbar, the "Option" button and
"Select an output folder to" / apply / OK.
(this is where you find your files after they)
are converted)Drag and drop your clips video .mov on the
main screen...Select "all to WMV" / OK...
Click on... Beginning... in the toolbar...
That should do it...
Good luck...
