My C4485 All in One Printer displays "incompatible print cartridge".

My C4485 all in a poster "Incompatible print cartridge" against a half used, 351XL real color cartridge. If I run the 'diagnostic print page', it runs and print in color! and will sometimes print normally for a short period. Have tried cleaning the contacts, etc..  My system is Windows XP SP3, the printer serial number is TH86BD216F. On the point of... Start > control > events overview > System... Watch "HP Cue device not started" can anyone advise if the problem is probably caused by... My computer, the printer, or the cartridge? Would be grateful for any help.

Brian-E-G

Hi Rudy.

The problem is now resolved, but in an unexpected way. Make your answer that there is no "quick fix" decided the glance to the software via... Windows Explorer > My Computer > c drive > programs > HP and everything by browsing files spotted a title 'Chrome', remembering that, among other things, I had recently uninstalled Google Chrome, reinstalled it and WOW! the printer now works thanks for that it was your interaction that led this research. However, it raises another question - how can I remove Chrome and does not affect the printer?

Thanks a lot Brian-E-G.

Sorry to hear that you are having problems with the printer and ink cartridges.  I have found a document that will resolve this problem. Please note that the title of the document does not list the error you have however it will solve the problem at hand.

Please click on the following link that deals with a "missing cartridge", 'cartridge problem,' or "not compatible ink cartridges" Error Message is displayed on the control panel.

I suggest also that if you have the printer power cable connected to a bar/power strip, please remove and connect it directly to a wall outlet. Here is a document that explains the problems when connected to an uninterruptible power supply/Strip/surge protector power.  This document is generally for HP products even if a LaserJet printer for example the cottage.

  • OfficeJet J6450 All in One printer cartridge wrong cartridge, but it is not

I have an Officejet J6450 All in One Printer.  I only use the new HP cartridges (not renovated, manual not refilling).  I installed a 74XL into the printer about a month with expiration of 02/11/2014.  It is still more than 1/2 full and very well printed yesterday.  Today, without apparent reason, the printer is saying that the ink cartridge is not supported by my printer... it is evil.  I tried a reset (3 and the # and when it does not 6 and the #) unplug him and by plugging it in.  I also removed the cartridge and tried both resets and then put it back in and still got the same error message.    I cleaned the print heads with a coffee filter and distilled water and tried the reset with unplugging and plugging back.  That didn't fix it.  Also, I deleted all of the permits from the hard drive and reinstalled the drivers and all updates (which I am automatically in any case, if the printer was already updated yesterday).  That didn't fix it.  I have tried everything and can't get this stupid to work printer.  I spent hours and hours on this.  I put in a new cartridge and it seems to work now, but I don't want to lose more than 1/2 full cartridge with no recourse.  I am a mother of 6 and the ink is very, very expensive, and what happens if this happens again?  Someone at - it ideas?  Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like the cartridge has failed, because its guarantee until 2014 I would contact HP telephone support. Can you please let us know how you get on?
    Thank you

  • HP C7280 All IN ONE PRINTER: Cartridges HP 02 introduction

The C7280 printer was given to me still in the box, but the HP 02 cartridges were missing. So I bought new cartridges and installed.

A message appears on the printer that the ' introductory cartridges provided with the printer must be installed. "

What is the difference and how do I get my new cartridges to work?

    Hi LGN1,

I think you need to contact HP support.  It seems to me that this printer has never been used, but somehow 02 original cartridges that came in the box have been separated from the printer.

02 original cartridges are slightly different from that of the cartridges that you buy in the stores because as when initalises it the printer for the first time, it uses ink to prepare the printer for this reason all the Starter supplies 02 have additional Ink in them to account for this so that it does not adversely affect the performance of the first cartridges used by a customer.

It may be possible to HP support to provide you with Starter cartridges.  Here is a link to contact HP.  Simply select your country.

  • 5610xi all in one printer cartridge won\ ' t align

"Alignment failed due to the incorrect page being in scanner." I tried several times with the same result.  If I can't fix it, I want to disable the alignment program and could use help with that, too.

I see that you have problems with misalignment. This happens usually when the print head needs to be cleaned or is bad. It may be that the ink cartridges need the same treatment.

Here is a link that will provide you help with this procedure.

  • Printer all-in-one screen display has changed from his usual display of a broader look "safe mode".

When I click on the all-in-one printer, it happens on my monitor screen different than what it allows.  Now, it seems that it is in "safe mode" and I'm not able to use its features as before.  Why is this happening and how can I get this back to its original state?

    Hi Doris Workman,.

    1. What is the brand and model of the printer?
    2. are you referring to the computer screen or the printer?
    3. what function you are trying to use?
    4. don't you make changes to the computer before the show?

If you are referring to the screen on the All in one printer, then I suggest you to contact the manufacture of the printer.

Provide more information to help you best.

    JMcKenzie2006,

    Welcome to the HP Forum.

The following workaround solution should correct the problem - basically how to turn off the sleep function.  It works when all other options have failed to solve the problem: assigning static IP, small insect sacrifice, swearing, all sorts of settings...

Be aware: I do not know the consequences - if any - turning off the sleep function.
