My computer broken repair shop!

News of the computer: HP G62X - 400 CTO

Operating system: Win7 (64 bit)

Story: For several months, my computer had display problems. He left that anytime I moved the monitor, the screen would flicker on during a few seconds. After a few months, it would display only if the monitor has been completely opened. I disassembled the computer several times, and reconnect the monitor cable to the socket on the motherboard. This should solve the problem for a few days at a time, but the problem came back every time. I finally decided to take the computer in a store when he so the screen shows nothing. Specifically, the backlight was on but there is no content that is displayed. The shop told me they would set probably later that day, maybe the next. After three days, I called them and they said they fixed the monitor but couldn't get the computer to boot and suspect that they damaged the power button. I was told that it would be more than a few days.  9 days, zero calls explaining the delay and a complaint with the BBB, I finally just went and got my computer from them. The tech/owner told me that they had obtained the new button / this morning and installed, but still could not the computer to boot. I told him I was taking it, how much he complained that I had not given a chance to fix it. Keep in mind, they had 12 days to solve a problem, I was told would take less than a day to be fixed at this stage. I took at another store recommended for me and technology, he has tried to turn on and told me that there is a motherboard error and the lights are give me a code. I thanked and it took a third shop (reputable BBB certified) to confirm. This store also said that there is a mistake on the motherboard.

When I push the button of power, power, WiFi/F12 and tray dvd light that all simultaneously Flash once, pause for 10 seconds, then all three flashing. I interpret this as a code flash flash, repeated every 10 seconds approximately. My research for HP codes flash leads me to believe that this is the code for a CPU failure. Can someone in the know please confirm this for me? I need to have my facts straight when I say the store owner that he owes me a new computer.

Also, how can I retrieve my equipment Sheet? The HP site says that since it's a CTO model number they do not follow the recordings of it (which I find impossible to believe). I have no reason to assume the disc is not intact, is there a file I can pull up on it to see the exact specifications of my computer? The reason I ask is that I paid extra for the enhanced graphics, etc.. I'm not going to accept a replacement of the bottom line for my computer.

The a blink code indicates he can not read the processor correctly. However, it could be a CPU socket on the motherboard failure, a faulty processor or a FSB failed depending on the architecture. There is no way to say 100% with blink code, but it's usually the processor in my experience.

  • A computer repair shop can install windows on someones computer off a 'set of generic disks' if the computer has the right to this type of windows via a PIN single/code/serialnumber?

    A few years back, I took a computer to a repair shop and had not the discs, the repair guy said that they could legally restore the computer and load it on a wide a copy of a random/generic windows (the same computer had the right of)

    is it legitimate?

    Seems like it would be, I mean if the computer has the right to this title, but I don't know if you're telling me.

    Thank you

    If the Windows license is an OEM license (ie. the computer was purchased from a company like Dell, HP, etc. with pre-installed Windows), then the license is bound to the machine.  Each manufacturer has a way to check their OEM license is valid.  One method is for the manufacturer to place a code in the BIOS of the motherboard that validates the copy of XP, when installed with a floppy disk to install from the same manufacturer.  So it should be perfectly legitimate to restore license OEM to the originating from a floppy to install OEM computer.

  • What type of license a repair shop must use to install windows on the computer of the customer

    PC repair shop

    I want to open the computer repair workshop, what license type should I buy to install windows to my clients, or should be with the new copy of Microsoft Windows

    If you are computer repair, your customers must already have their own Windows licenses. Simply put a warning that your customers must provide their relocation drive and would put their owners manual when they send their computers for repair.

    If you build computers for resale, you should look into OEM System Builder licenses.

  • Repair shop wiped the hard drive and gave the wrong version of XP

    I have an Acer Aspire one model ZG5, which came with XP home. While still under warranty, the pad has stopped working and would then start is more upward. I sent it in for repair, they wiped the hard drive and fixed my problems. Except, instead of reinstalling XP Home Edition, XP Professional installed. I can't use my computer without first professional activator, which I just can't do it, and I don't have a version of the House that I can install myself. I wouldn't rather to pirate a copy, but I'm not sure how to get a copy of the House, I already bought once and do not feel that I should buy it a second time. How could I go solve this?

    Back to whom you have sent your computer for repair and request that they make good (on) copy of Windows back or give you a license key valid for the version that they installed.

  • How to check if a repair shop swapped parts on my computer?

    I had a virus on my desktop, so I've taken to a place of repair & paid $109 for the (much longer than the original quote of $29) abduction, anyway... I'll be back it & it doesn't even seem the same computer I took repair. It sounds old (like this noise gargle 1995 computer), the graphics look shit & it runs much more slowly than before. I used to be able to open my photos & now they take minutes to load of pop. I wonder if I was somehow scammed... as perhaps the place of repair took advantage of my lack of knowledge & exchanged out of somewhere or something? My computer is a little over a year old, but it works like an old machine. Help, please! Any advice?

    Go to the Dell website, where they have an option to display the original configuration of your device when you buy. It simply enter the "Service Tag" of your device, you can find it at the back of your office. Look for a white sticker that is labeled as numero number series, enter the tag to the link below and it will list down the information on your computer.

  • JUST BOUGHT A COMPUTER TO PAWN SHOP CAN NOT ENTER IN MICROSOFT VISTA

    I BOUGHT A COMPUTER FROM A PAWN SHOP THAT RUNS WINDOWS VISTA, AND I CAN ONLY LOGIN AS GUEST.  I DON'T WANT TO LOOSE WINDOWS VISTA BUT I DON'T WANT TO BECOME AN ADMIN ON THE SYSTEM.  ANY HELP PLEASE?

    Reinstall Vista:

    Vista recovery media obtain and/or use the Partition Recovery Vista on your computer to the factory settings .

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
    See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
    Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
    Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

    They will tell you how to do this.

    Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, Acer, recovery disk/s etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.
    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
  • Better to buy a new computer to repair?
    I am a disabled veteran and needed something to keep my mind and body busy.  Her husband is also a disabled veteran, but he doesn't have an interest in computers and games. He of more the kind of fishing.  We have been able to buy two computers on a year and a half after a tornado struck us, and our House was classified as a total loss.  Unfortunately, as much... we were underinsured and couldn't buy a new House so we worked on the reconstruction of our mobile home ourselves and made a few purchases like computers.  The computer that I had at that time there was shattered, and nothing has been left to work on. I've always used games and computers to deal with my disability so became quite nervous about not having a.  Yep, I'm an old lady, playing games.  However, we had another tornado hit close last week, but not directly.  A lot of lightning and power exploded about a day and a half.  When I was able to again turn on, the computer sounded like he was taking off.  I rebooted and the noise subsided, but I could tell that something was wrong.  I found the small device of 'hot spot', that I use to access the internet had come close to exploding.  Looks like the lightning entered the outlit, crossed this device, through the computer, then back to the zone reactive. Fortunately, another hotbox and another computer so I went online to do some research.  I have this one fed up to see exactly what he was doing.  It is not nearly the speed he was seized, and when I go to a gambling site, I can't get the load pump took.  He behaves as if there is not enough memory.  I disassembled the computer but nothing fixed on what the problem was.  I think it's something in the motherboard or possibly the CPU? I could not find anyone who wanted to work on a whole in a touch that was almost all integrated on the motherboard.   I looked for a restart but just do not see.  I used to build computers, but stopped when the technology was faster than my ability to learn. I take a person who manufactures computers, but said, that he would not be worth the cost of replacing motherboard and need to replace.   He said something that I've heard of a few others that I wasn't going to find an easy fix for this and the cost is probably higher to repair and replace, but to buy a new one that was technically up-to-date than my Aspire is.  I checked out the website and see that there is a computer is more oriented game than this particular model and when I add the cost of a monitor, it is still not as much as I paid for it!  My insurance company told to get some quotes for repair and they would cover the cost, but I wonder if it would be better to go there and to opt for the next model upward?  I know that I have a little time to get the information that them... and do not know what I have to do.  Someone had their computers break down and the cost of repairs is more than buying a newer version? I guess it would be better if I tell you what computer I have.  It is and ACER Aspire Z3101U4062, 1 TB hard drive, 4 GB of DDR3 memory, Windows 7 Home premium, AMD Athlon IIX2 240th double heart proc., NVIDIA GeForce 9200 graphics, DVD Super Muilti one Multi card reader drive, Lan integrated 10/100/1000 & wireless network, has no upgrade to Windows 8, but had the ability to do it since I bought the right to the computer before winning 8 came out.  I added more memory and had didled to the registry to speed it up and was looking to upgrade the hard drive and thought I'd go with a quad core, but when I checked the stats, all the rest will need to be upgraded too.  In any case, I use my HP lap top that well with the game but I preferred the desk top.  Oh the monitor is a 21 1/2 inch touchscreen multimedia Full HD 1080 p.  I was also wondering if there was a trade in the program but I couldn't find anyone who would make up a trade.  Geeze, I reread and it looks like I'm babbling! I'm going through the forums and do research more.
    Thank you to have an answer so quickly.  But, alas... I guess that just, it wasn't meant to be.  I did a recovery without success.  Fortunately for backup... discs would have taken to always for some applications load again.  Has chosen to not load at all since she had no adverse effects or positively.  I have a laptop that is more suited for games with its i7 2 TB HD, 8 GB memory and so on so forth.  I would have liked to try a water cooled computer, but right now it would be just something I'm going to dream.  At the time wherever I can afford something like Alienware, my grandchildren have grandchildren.  I went with one of the techs that I showed earlier computer showed me a game that really made me drool and I can build myself.  Oh sure... When my ship comes and checks in the mail and it won't hurt a lot and I'll be back in a few minutes and I'm sure that I turned on the stove top until I leave the House... all is proving to be the reality instead of... Oh nvm... you know what I mean.  After making a recovery here made me realize that I have to clean the lap top and make new spiffy as.  I usually do this once a year and clean it like we did in MID.  Yes... I know.. military intelligence... I have to go to work on the car with my husband right now, but will be back to read some more of the forums.  There will are much smarter that I am and I see so many good advice... but I must read more.  Thanks again
  • Suddenly can't play Champions online after the computer in the shop
    Friday, I had my computer after a week in the shop for a major overhaul.  (still do not know what version of Windows XP I have now - hard to find the specs.)  Was one of the first things I reinstalled my software for Champions online, a MMPORG I played for two years and have a subscription to life for her.  It installs all right, but when I try to play, it hangs when it tries to load the patch that keeps the game to date.
    Also, when I have loaded, I get a security warning saying "revocation information for the security for this site certificate not available.  Do you want to continue? "I have install the certificate and then click 'Yes', but the patch does not always load.  Can anyone suggest what I need to do to fix this problem?
  • I crushed my desktop under Vista SP2 and the repair shop transformed old files by (.old) and reinstalled the operating system.
    I crushed my desktop under Vista SP2 really bad and couldn't get it to work again. I took it to the repair guy and they converted all the files (.old) and then reinstalled the operating system that has recovered the old files and got the computer running again. All the old files use about half of the hard drive and I want that space back. Is it safe to uninstall the old files? Thanks for any help and suggestions.
  • BlackBerry Smartphones Blackberry crushed by Minibus... repair shop need help in the NY area
    More strange, it happened the year last December. (see the title)
    My Blackberry Curve 8310 always does exactly what I want; except display an image on the internal screen is obviously broken.
    Tried the local mechanics & had them change the screen, no joy, but he did show a white screen picture all that does not change. (no icon)
    A partner is on the way to NY and I was looking for advice on if I should use this curve damaged parts for the expectation of new Blackberry Curve to NY or try to get it fixed.
    All my information as well as the SD card are safe, because the damaged aircraft can always synchronize with Outlook and Windows after his accident.
    For those of you are wondering, how is it, it is possible...
    I used a cheap, horizontal carrying case which had a belt clip curved on black plastic covered back metal that flaked.
    In my view, that the case against unity being reduced to several parts.
    Indeed, if the bus had not run over 2 times (front & rear wheel) and then stopped on the unit with the rear wheel... I probably still would be to see the screen.
    anyway... supposed to use for parts or repair?
    Kind regards
    212131berry.
    Thanks for the pointer to the JSanders Web site.
    Reflection on the hourly rate for the repair plus the cost of parts, suggesting I could buy lots of accessories and 3rd party software for the new curve... vs .epairing the damaged.
    Considering also that my data is safe, it seems best to pack the damaged aircraft suite and get ready to have new happy memories with his replacement.
    Thank you for helping me to come to the right decision for me.
    Kind regards
