What is the best heatsink for dell dimension 2400 that someone know cause I'm going to update my CPU and I want my new processor to stay cool to operate smoothly, which means upgrading the heat settle to the and I am at a point when I need help

    lovers of the computer

The heat sink of the Dell Dimension 2400 OEM, is a unit of owner, there's no details available unit, see page 21 in the maintenance manual.

    FTP.Dell.com/.../dimension-2400_service%20manual_en-US.pdf

There should be no need to modernize the heatsink by default, as the motherboard OEM 2400 only supports processors core Socket 487.

The Dimension 2400 can use 400 MHz or 533 MHz, Socket 478, P - 4 Northwood or Celeron processor with a 512 k or more small cache.

The maximum size of the processor is a Socket 478 Northwood P4 3.06 GHz, 533 MHz FSB processor.

The 2400 will not take Prescott processors [1 MB cache].

Before upgrading the processor, make sure that the latest version of the BIOS is installed with BIOS version A03, CPU microcode update has been added in support of the latest processors.

My CD drive on my Dell 2400 appears disabled (on Admin Managemnt yellow exclamation point) as this is my plugin dvd recordr/cd player recorder. How can I fix? Thank you

Locate your CD drive integrated in the device list manager.

Do a right click on it, it should appear a window with "Disable"... 'Enable '.

    Click Activate.

It is a possibility, the other is...

The fact that you are also using EXTERNAL units could be the 'reason' why one integrated disabled to start with.

The USB in the BIOS setting must be wrong... to do this.

In addition, the "HALT ON...» ' Command, in the BIOS, will not. (It is possible that the "Halt" command is... ON "ALL ERRORS").

    Assign to this... "WITHOUT ERRORS".

This should cure the problem of USB connection (for external use) disable your "built-in" CD player

    Hello

    ·        Have you tried to update the drivers for the graphics card?

You must install the drivers for its display, currently functioning in VGA mode, that after having installed the drivers you will be allowed to change the resolution.

Download the correct display, your computer's video card drivers.

  • Upgrade Dell 2400

My Parents Dell Dimension 2400 must be almost 10 years. I told them I want to get a new computer, but faced a lot of resistance. Seems that once you're lucky enough to live into your 80s, you like these things that are familiar to you.

So, I'm looking for advice on upgrading their capacity of memory and processor. They did not much more that some light internet browsing, playing music from their iTunes library large enough and how to send photos of the grandchildren. Some years, I transferred a large part of it on a 500 Gig external hard drive. Now MOM has started a new hobby of the genealogy of the family and complained about how slow loading pages.

I opened the side panel on the tower and can guess (with certainty) that I am tha first to do so since he had left the manufacter factory. Need a cleaning before, during and after the upgrade. I invite all advice on how and when to clean up.

It's all the original components: Intel Celeron 2.40 GHZ

    256 MB OF RAM

    INTEL 82845 G/GL/GE/PE/GV (I guess it's the video card)

    running 2002 Windows XP HOME 32-bit EDITION w / SP3

I would like to get Windows and on Unbuntu, but have no knowledge of how, or if, it would have an impact on the choice of new components.

The research I did lead me to think than a new processor 2.8 GHZ with 2 GB of RAM (2 STICKS of I Gig each) would give Mommy all the speed it needs. But, again, don't know what are the components are compatible, or even if these choices are the ones she needs. What you'all think?

    Thanks, Tmoose

You need a Northwood Pentium 4 Socket 478

    P4 2.8 GHz 400 Mhz FSB SL7EY

And the low density DDR 400 Non buffered ECC INTEL compatible ram. You must update the BIOS using XP or DOS before attempting to change the CPU.   12.04.5 of UBUNTU LTS and most will install side by side with the XP that is already there on an NTFS partition.

RAM DDR 400 will be hard to find, but you want it max to 4 gigs.

You need not what anyone else.

    Ubuntu - 12.04.5 - dvd - i386.iso

It resizes your NTFS partition and install UBuntu in its own partition EFS.  When you restart, you can choose Linux or XP.

I do not recommend remove XP but rather to install Ubuntu with XP.

    Install Ubuntu after Windows

A Windows operating system must be installed first, because its bootloader is very particular and the installer tends to replace all of the hard drive, erasing all data stored on it. If Windows is not already installed, install it first.

    Install Ubuntu

    • Download a Ubuntu LiveCD image (.iso) and burn it to a disk

    • Insert the LiveCD in your CD-ROM drive and restart your PC.
    • If the computer does not start on the CD (for example Windows starts again at the place), reboot and check your BIOS settings by pressing F2, F12, DEL or ESC. Select "boot from CD".
    • Proceed with the installation until you are asked this question: "how you want to partition the drive.
    • Choose the next steps.

    Automatic partition resizing (recommended)

    • Choose the first option, which should say 'Install side by side, choosing between them each startup'.
    • Specify the size of the new partition by dragging the slider at the bottom of the window.
    • Click "next".
    • Continue until Complete Installation Ubuntu

  • HD 6570 1 GB ddr5/2 GB ddr3 in dell 5150 dimension

    Hi all

I have a dell dimension 5150 with 3.5 GB of ram, intel pentium d 802 at 2.66 ghz and a radeon x 300 / x 550 / x 1050 gpu. My diet is 305 w. I want to upgrade my gpu Radeon HD 6570 (2 GB dd3 or 1 GB ddr5 not sure yet) my dell support because he said he needs a minimum 400W PSU. I really want to upgrade my gpu and not my diet. My options are:

    HD5450

    HD6570

    HD5570

    Gt210

    Gt610

    Gt630

I would prefer much the Hd6570 but my pc will support it? I also want to upgrade my cpu because I think it will be my gpu bottleneck. What is the fastest processor compatitible? I want to upgrade to Intel pentium D945. What do you think? I really need help! THANKS IN ADVANCE!

P.S - what is a 1 GB ddr5 hd6570 will work? All ddr5 will work and do my core 2 duo motherboard (0hj054) support?

PPS what pcie version should I? My gpu - z says I 1.0 but game - debate.com said 2.0. I also read that a pcie x 16 can play 5450 which is a pcie v2. While one is?

    The GT210, 610, 630 are horrible cards.

Below, I recommend in this area would be specific ASUS GT740-2GD3-CSM which is a single slot.

    http://www.Amazon.com/GeForce-graphic-express-DirectX-product/DP/B00V5HBXBW

5450 and 6450 are easy to find.

6570 and 6670 will be hard to find.

    http://www.Amazon.com/GP/offer-listing/B0052C4QDS

The R5 and R7 series cards may not work because of need for the UEFI bios.

    ASUS Silent HD6450.

The HJ054 card mother IS NOT support Core or Core2 anything.  Max CPU with heatsink brass is Pentium D 945 and only after the bios update.  It will not publish without updating the bios.  DDR2 or DDR3 or GDDR5 memory on the video card is not in any way related to the living memory of the system.  In general, you want minimum of GDDR3 and GDDR5, if you can get it because its 30-40% faster.

The Dimension 5150/E510 (DM051) does not support the Core 2 processors.   SL7PU is the maximum that supports the e510. BX80547PG3000ET (sSpec Pentium D 945 SL9QQ works with the A07 bios) but it will take F1 to press every time (according to the motherboard you have)

  • Upgrade my dell 3000 dimension to an SSD.

Hello, I have an old dell dimension 3000 and I want to increase the overall speed and performance of the computer. I have already contributed to the maximum to the computer (2 GB) ram, but I don't want to stop there. I was wondering if I could pass the internal hard drive of the computer to an SSD. I won't use a lot of memory, so a large drive is not necessary, but my main problem is the speed. If I can go to a SSD then please inform me on other products that I have to buy and how to add them to my computer to get my computer working. I'm kind of a rookie in mechanics of the computer, but I'm up to the task. It is the SSD, I'm looking at:

    https://www.Google.com/shopping/product/13942855697713868392?q=SSD&hl=en&BAV=on.2, or.r_qf & biw = 1366 & bih = 667 & his = X & ei = BO9AUa7fGuyAygGJhIC4Cg & ved = 0CH4Q8wIwAA

    Thank you

The hard drive is a major bottleneck to speed. Upgrading to an SSD it eliminates and is thus the largest performance gain unique you'll get before upgrading your motherboard.

  • Dell 2300 dimension

What size hard disk can fit in the reference dell dimension 2300. ?  I thought using internal western digital 500 GB or 1 T drive.

    Uncle buck 7

    What is the operating system?

The Dimension 2300 only supports IDE hard drives, any size up to 750 GB should be fine.

Verify that the BIOS version A02 is installed, which for large hard drives and IDE UDMA support was added.

SATA drives are not compatible, unless you install a PCI SATA controller card.

Note: There is very little interest in the upgrade of a machine, as old as the Dimension 2300.

  • Reference Dell 2400 will start when the power cord connected to the mains, or after restoring power. Is the result of a setting on the computer?

The computer is turned off.  If the electricity is off, the computer will automatically start once power is restored.

I guess it's a desktop pc that is a few years old and yes some early atx power supplies will do it, creepy when there was an interruption of the power supply when you are out and go home to find the pc on.

  • should what software I reinstall my msidcrl 40. DLL

First of all, make sure that your machine is virus/parasite free, run a Malwarebytes scan on the machine.

Where do you get this error message saying that the file is missing?  Have you successfully uninstall Windows Live?

  • Will not be put into service, but going through post-test and shuts down again.

I have a Dell 2400 Dimension that I am having trouble with. I just clean with a can of air that own security that is supposed to be a dust collection system free of moisture. I don't know what happened, but I unplugged the power supply before as I have even try to clean it up. I put back together and he started upward, but the only thing it will do is to start up and go through the post test and fill the bar at the dell logo screen and then power that is auto off, but that's all I can get it to do.

I don't know even where to start start troubleshooting, but it does not work with Vista and it's 32-bit, but for this, it's all I know about it right now. especially sense I can't turn it on.

    Quantum K

You will need to test the connection (hard disk, RAM, graphics, connectors, etc.) in your Machine to make sure they are all secure.

Working in here can get accidentally flipped a connection or a card and it loosened.

    See you soon.

  • What's Dell Dimension 2400 desktop computer capable of capturing a wireless signal? Should this function be switched?

Dell dimension 2400 desktop computer was plugged into the wireless router we have. We got a new computer and moved the old desktop (Dell 2400) in another room. It is not picking up, or even searching for a wireless signal. She still has this ability? How can we it give this ability?

The Dimension 2400 is not normally a built-in wireless networking capability.  To view, go to the Control Panel > Classic view > System > hardware > Device Manager and double-click network adapters .

If that doesn't show wireless network card, you can add it by buying a USB wireless network adapter or a Wireless PCI adapter card .
