  • Create your first website tutorial files missing and questions

    I'm working on this tutorial: http://www.Adobe.com/devnet/Dreamweaver/articles/first_website_pt3.html (With the help of Dreamweaver CC)

    I'm toward the end of part 3 of this tutorial (the part where you work with the footer) and notice that my page does not match the tutorial info. The sign of copyright is absent for one (I KNOW I put it there yesterday, but now it has disappeared).

    I tried to download the sample file first_website pt2_end.zip so that I can compare the source code and see what I've done wrong, but the file links lead me to 404 pages. http://download.Macromedia.com/pub/developer/Dreamweaver/creating-your-first-website/first _website%20pt2_end.zip

    Since I have no code to compare with, I'll probably start the tutorial all over again, just so that I can ensure that I followed all the steps correctly. * Sigh * but I thought I would ask here first.

    So my questions:

    (1) no idea what could have my copyright symbol disappear?

    (2) in this part:

    1. In the page layout section, set the clear property to left. The <footer> moves to the bottom of the page.
    2. Scroll the Document window as far as possible. You should see a light blue band below the <footer> . It's the same problem caused by the top margin on the main entry. Browsers apply top and bottom margins by default on the paragraphs, and bottom of the paragraph margin combined with zero lower margin of the <footer> and the wrapper <div> , pushing the wrapper <div> away the bottom of the page. In the section layout, the upper and lower value padding of 2px. The gap disappears (you need to scroll to the bottom of the Document window to confirm that).
    3. To align the text in the <footer> with the main <article> , set the left padding to 2

    The footer refuses to move from the sidebar box, no matter what I do. In part 2 of the tutorial he told me NOT to give the footer of ID. What might be the problem? When I create a section to make a footer, I need to create as "footer" as opposed to "#footer"? (Will try this - just think about it as I was typing this)

    Thanks for your help!

    I wrote this tutorial, but is not a control on the Web site on which it is hosted. Adobe in North America is on vacation this week, so there is no one that I can contact to fix the missing files. However, I downloaded my own versions of the files in the Dropbox:

  • Error following tutorial to create your first website - part 2: creating the page layout

    I'm trying to go through the tutorial Create your first website - part 2: creating the page layout I got to the part where I'm sizing columns with the command:

    #left_column, #center_column, #right_column {width: 316px ;}}

    Simply stated ony the Central column and the right column are shorted to the 316px.  I tried to change the code as follows

    left-column {width: 316pk} #, # center_column, #right column {width: 316px :} and it does the same thing.}

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Earl Kurburski

    The CSS rules all use the selectors ID.

    Thus, as a result of the tutorial, change

    class ="left_column" > content of class "left_column" goes here

    TO

    ID ="left_column" > content of class "left_column" goes here

  • At the first Pro CC, need, are unable to Premiere Pro CS6

    I had subscription CS6, upgraded to CC earlier. Until that one year ago, I had not downloaded Premiere Pro because I usually don't do this kind of video editing. Now I have a video project for my family (many older people these) I've finally finished. I know I'm supposed to download Premiere Pro CS6 to get even, but when I followed the instructions to download the previous version, Premiere Pro is not in the list in my product manager to the title of "Finding new applications." So I can't even download an older version. I got get this movie on DVD because most of the people the consultation will not be able to download it.

    There is another link in the forums that takes you to a site where you can download all previous versions known to humanity Adobe products. Does not work for me. Go to my downloads folder and it's there.

    Please, someone tell me what to do now? I hit at the height of frustration.

    Thank you.

    Oh my god. I thought about it. For anyone having the same problem, it was really so simple I'm kicking myself. I forgot that I had an account CC freebie for personal use, as well as paid for professional use. 2 email addresses for you to connect. I connect with the free one. You must have a paid account of CC to access the download of Premiere Pro CS6 of your CC App Manager. I logged in with my other email address and bang, he was there.

    Just for your own information, Mr. Waller, when a woman arrives and asks a question she has probably already is aware of the requirements, etc. You did answer the question. If you had fully read my question you would have noticed, I have already downloaded first Pro CC, so telling me to ensure that my machine meets the system requirements is a waste of breath. What you did is called "mansplaining." It is the equivalent of caress me on my small head of a woman and send me on my way to let the big boys do all Geek stuff. You have no idea of my experience with the technology. Mansplaining is neither justified nor acceptable. Even if you think you have been helpful, even if you knew not what you were doing, is nothing less sexist and insulting.

  • I am a newbie. When I buy items from the first, do I need to buy a license too?

    I need help

    When you buy Premiere Elements you purchase the license to use the software.  Adobe remains the owner of the software.

  • Question about CSS styles in the tutorial on creating your first website part 2

    Hello

    I am currently on the tutorial on creating your first Web site 2 part. http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/dw_html5_pt2.html . I am creating a new CSS style for #logo h1, h2 #logo. My text does not move off the screen and the Citrus coffee still has the text header in front of him. The instructions are not very clear. Can someone please explain what I'm doing wrong?

    Thank you

    Alexisonsmith3

    Another thing you can try to do is to change the case of your CSS tags:

    #logo hgroup {}

    position: absolute;

    top:-500px;

    }

    Definition above can be:

    #Logo hgroup {}

    position: absolute;

    top:-500px;

    }

    It is also recommended to always use lowercase letters to set all your CSS rules.

    I don't know if it will really work - but just a thought

  • Create your first website - part 3: adding content to pages - inserting/formatting...

    text split view and if you type in a statement by the head of Mac OS x after the end of the text you want to make a header to not create one end of paragraph in the code view for me. It creates a CR LF in the code view, but not a paragraph end tag (< /p >).

    I had to go into the design of the text to create an endpoint in code view.

    Placing the cursor on the position "inside Tesla Motors" and clicking on heading 2 in the list format of properties also create a < h2 > < / h2 > line just below the text in Design view, there are at least two additional lines created. None of this happens as your tutorial said.DreamweaverCodeTextProblems.jpg

    Any ideas?

    Dave C.

    Looks like you do this in Code view. You must be in design mode (or the right side of the mode split).

    None of this happens as your tutorial said.

    You realize that you are this announcement to an end-user forum Adobe? We are all Adobe customers like you.

    David Powers has written the tutorial. It stops here, here and here but no guarantee on the time.

  • First time user needs help

    I'm new to Flash and works through the Adobe CS3 Classroom in a Book. After one of the lessons, my rectangles are now appearing with rounded edges and I can't understand how to recover a regular rectangle without making a primitive rectangle.

    Any ideas? I hope it's just a "duh" on my part, but please help if you can.

    on the one hand, you use a border and its set to display the rounded... so either take off the border (click on your rectangle, look in the properties panel, there will be a small pencil with a box next to it, click on the box and then on the top right click on the red X)... or you can set the border to have a place or not Cape... even proceeded on the same line as the pencil, look to the right, you will see "Cap"...

  • Complete noob needing help on the website portfolio online.

    Hello world!

    So I'm a 3D artist seeking to make a Web site that appears in most browsers, I currently use a flash model that is not so good that it does not work on my iphone (which is also something I need).
    I followed some tutorials and have a basis for my site but do you have a problem. Currently I use tables and an iframe to have all my pages open under my header/navigation bar which seemed to work until when I want a different size page to open in the iframe.

    I have a portfolio/gallery with many miniatures section which should link to another page with pics and info of this particular piece of superior resolution, the problem is that I get this horrible scroll bar if I put scrolling iframe on but if I don't have the full Web page after clicking on a thumbnail gets cut. Also I really don't want a scroll anyway I want to click on a thumbnail and then page down extend when the new page is loaded.

    I don't really know other ways to do what I'm a noob at coding etc so any suggestions on how to get this to work or links to tutorials would be great.

    Here is the test www.benoldfield.com/Website_test Web site, please click on the first thumbnail/image to see what I mean, the others are not configured and excuse long time loading and general design, not been worrisome in this regard.

    Thanks for any help!

    In a Word, start your project with a development shaped predefined CSS (preferably one that has been tested to run on all browsers).

    http://ALT-Web.com/templates/basic-1-Col-fixed.html

    Add content wide header and footer of the site.  Save it as a template (.dwt file) DW.  Add editable regions to the content model that will change the page.  Save again.  Close.

    File > new Page > model.  Insert thumbnail images.  Save as page index.html (your home page).

    File > new Page > model.  Insert images in real size and text descriptions. Save as Page2.html (or anything that is appropriate). Repeat for other pages of the site until you are finished.

    Open index.html page.  Each thumbnail link to its corresponding page of the site. Site Preview in browsers.  When you're happy, upload to your web server.

  • Building websites for large state bureaucracies

    I just got a message from the Department of mental health on the creation of a Web site. Of course, the site has a lot of content and I noticed it seems rather dated and is not a delicate design.

    What are your feelings to get involved this kind of projects? I generally prefer small business websites because owners know exactly what they want and they do usually not long at all to build. I can imagine a horrible situation with endless meetings, several people chime on insignificant details, of the conflicting opinions and the process for months and months.

    Anyone with this experience?

    First, you will need to answer a number of questions about what it is asking you to do.

    It would be very unusual for you to "just got a message" ask you to build a website, but you may have been invited to bid for the project. You have applied for a web designer/developer job?

    Also remember, that the site you can see on the web, may or may not be the real Web site that they speak, as many Government or large companies have completely different for the employees of the company sites (or other users), that the public site may actually see.

    If you are invited to bid, and then ask the design and development, in short, to give you more information on what is required, (a link should be provided in the message).

    If it comes to an interview, then I would recommend that you know what position it is for and at least know as much as possible for this function (if you fail to show at least a reasonable knowledge of the requirements, then that's it for years).

    And before ask you, I was up at 2 years, so I retreated, I would have been one of the types of people who would have decided if you where appropriate on such an interview.

  • Peck of the list not the same thing as in tutorial 'first site '.

    Hi, in the tutorial found here: https://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/how-to/first-website-part4.html , down in the section 'dealing with older browsers", number 10 / (in the Panel code fragments, expand the folder for comments and select less than or equal to IE 7 conditional comment (it's the last item in the file).)

    I don't find this line of code in the Panel Snipets.

    Which is no longer necessary for older browsers? Is it put there another way? Should I just copy the code and he put it there myself?

    Should I ignore that any part of the tutorial and not even put in the code < script type = "text/javascript" src = "js/html5shiv.js" > < / script >

    Can I skip this entire section?

    Do you need to understand what I'm trying to request more information?

    You don't have to worry about IE8 and lower. Their market share in specialized but very specific sites will be in the low 0-1% range.

    Your version of the program is more recent than the tutorial you use no doubt and it seems that the clips you're looking for are either moved or gone.

  • Try to upload my website using godaddy

    As this is my first website that will be published please to cut myself a little slack.

    I am trying to download my Web site for dad and I don't know what my file names should be or when they need to do, any help would be great, also when I move my site gets all files blurred as she can no longer locate some files (because I just moved their) what should I do to get this site going. ?

    First of all, if you want to move the files autour, you MUST use the Panel for DW files do. When you do so, DW will manage all of your links to prevent them from breaking.

    Second, the structure of folders in the Web site should be a mirror of your local site folder structure. When you upload a local file to the remote site, DW will put it in the same remote folder hierarchy that it occupies in the local site. The trick here is that, sometimes, the ROOT of the remote hosting account is * not * the ROOT of the remote Web site, it is in a folder subordinate, often called "www" or "public_html" or "htdocs" or any number of other similar names. If this is the case, you must configure your remote site definition (in the site definition, you have already created) to use named folder under the root of the remote site.

    If you do this, your site will function as desired locally and remotely.
