My hp dv7 lasts 30 minutes to start.

When I hit the power button, the hp logo appears... for 30 minutes that's all that happens.

Hello

Yes it is possible, that is what causes the slow start.  Try to restart again (always with nothing else connected).  If it starts normally, you're probably right

Best wishes

About two weeks ago, I buy a laptop pavilion dv7-4165dx because I really like the features of the laptop. I got at best buy because I thought it was a faulty hard drive, because any given work very well, at best buy told me that the laptop was fine and had no problems. But I still have the same problem because take laptop about 3 to 4 minutes at the start he crashes in the welcome message, after I typed my password. I have already updated all drivers and BIOS, can someone help me.

    Hello

I would get Best Buy to replace the notebook that you really shouldn't have these kinds of issues with a whole new machine.  It could be that the Windows image is bad, or some other hardware related issue.  I would definetely get that he replaced however.

    All the best,

  • 64-bit Windows 7 system takes 10-15 minutes to start

I had the same install of Windows 7 on my desktop since 2009. The Office has faced a lot of hardware upgrades. I replaced the video card three times, the main hard drive once and last year updated card motherboard and CPU. That the last change in particular has many victims, adding 3 or 4 minutes to start time.  I'm looking for more than 10 minutes when I hit the power button when the Office has completely loaded and the system is usable.

A few months ago, I reduced my startup time of 15 minutes to 9 minutes to uninstall Avast (that I replaced with Windows Defender). However, it has been creeping upward again. In recent days I uninstalled a lot of old software, cleaned my temporary files, used CC Cleaner to solve some problems of register and clean unnecessary files more and used the Autoruns utility to eliminate many services and drivers that I need not running when you start Windows. I did not notice an improvement in startup time; in fact, it seems slightly less good, but maybe it's my imagination. In general, it takes about 6 minutes to get to the deskop visible mission and another + 5 minutes for desktop computer to be fully charged and all usable.

I have a software minimum run at startup: Windows Defender, DataColor SpyderUtility and Realtek HD Audio manager.

This is my work computer and I can't save 40 hours or more, he would have to reformat the hard drive, reinstall Windows, download all updates for Windows, download and install Adobe Creative Suite, Studio Android, Android SDK, Git, Mercurial, FlashDevelop, the AIR SDK, Eclipse, MAGIX Music Maker and many other utilities.

I can provide the newspapers that might help troubleshoot the root cause of the problem, let me know which. Since the upgrade to a Gigabyte P55M-UD2 and i7 - 860 a MSI Z97 - G45 and i7 - 4770 k triggered my startup time of 4-5 minutes, I feel like it would be a good place to focus first. I imagine that there is some driver issue or a similar problem, but have been unable to diagnose on mine.

  • Pavillion g6 takes 3-5 minutes to start

I'm very unhappy hp time start for my new Pavilion g6. MAIL takes 25 seconds until it reaches "Starting Windows". Then another 50 seconds before the start of the MS Windows logo, which takes 25 seconds to climb laboriously. Then 93 seconds until the login screen. = 03:13 minutes to start. And that's one of his best results - if you disable the stuff it takes even more.

Back with my Compaq CQ43, I remember regretting bitterly apply a BIOS update, because not only Windows 7 then take 3 minutes to start, but has so Ubuntu and I wasn't able to retreat to the bios earlier. However, as long as I just do a restart, it would re - start pretty quickly, so I lived with her (restarts leaves a somewhat more susceptible to rootkits, but whatever.)

With my new hp Pavilion g6, when I first turned on, it took painful 30 seconds for the pixels of the Windows logo to merge to a galacial of the PACE. Apply all patches does not help, and using msconfig to get out non-essential (e.g. HP bloatware) slowed at the next restart of 4.5 minutes!

I'm sick to death of hp trying to remove bloatware in my throat and when I disable the bloatware, then startup gets even more time. I paid a lot of money to support and Windows 7. The attempts of HP is a mini - me provider s/w are counterproductive and smelly. For example why hell HP insists it on give me an extra set of callbacks to make backups? I wouldn't mind so much if HP has actually paid support useful for their own attempts to increase in MS, but given that their own attempts to generate more stuffing things up, and they don't tell you how to fix what they broke up, and they do all this neo-Gothic white on a black background...

I'm switching this on whirlpool.net.au, because my previous requests for assistance via the forums, product hp zip.

Problem solved. I have connect a conventional keyboard and a typical mouse from Dell via a 4-way splitter non powered usb - separator has probably no electronic - it's probably just a mechanical joint of the son. If I plug the keyboard and mouse directly into the usb ports on the notebook, then Win 7 taks 38 seconds on the login screen. But if I plug them through the derivation, Win 7 takes more than 5 minutes.

I wonder if this is what was wrong with my compaq? I'll try it later.

Thank you for taking the time to make this post very informative, excellent. Without the machine test myself that I can't be sure, but based on the age of the computer and what you wrote I suspect for lack of material. It could be something simple like the hard drive or RAM or something more serious like the motherboard. I wouldn't recommend replacing any material on such an old laptop.

As long as the hard disk has been physically, you can recover your data easily. If the hard drive has failed, then you will need to send the drive to a professional drive savers data recovery company. It is quite expensive ($500-3700), but they can usually recover your data. Some insurance policies cover also, professional data recovery in order to check with yours. But let's be optimistic. ;-)

IMPORTANT - If there is no question that the drive is at fault - there are noises, for example - and the data is crucial NOTHING else ON THE DISC. Whenever launch you this player you can destroy data. If this is the case, send the drive to a professional data recovery company.

I'll give you the information on how to test the hard drive to see if it's good physically and how to recover data when you can't in Windows but in doing these things requires a certain level of computer skills. You know yourself the best and that it would be better to take the laptop to a competent local professional. If you do this, do not use a type of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad of the place. Get recommendations from family, friends and colleagues.

    A. test equipment

Test the hard drive with a diagnostic utility downloaded from site of the disc mftr. or use SeaTools for BACK of Seagate. You create a bootable CD with the files you download. You will need a third party burning software to do as the free ImgBurn, Nero or Roxio. Burn as an image, not in the form of data.

    http://www.ImgBurn.com

    http://www.Seagate.com/www/en-us/support/downloads/SeaTools/seatooldreg
    http://Seagate.custkb.com/Seagate/CRM/selfservice/search.jsp?docid=201271 (how-to)

Boot with the CD that you have done and do a full test of the reader. You will probably need to change the boot order. Your Dell can give you a temporary boot menu if you press F12 as the computer starts. If so, use your arrow key to select the CD drive. Otherwise, press F2 to enter in Setup (BIOS) and change the order of boot on the CD drive first. If the disk fails all physical tests, it must be replaced. Although readers of the laptop cost around $60, you should really consider if it is to put money in such an old machine. You can replace the disk, but the laptop is definitely at the end of its normal life and something else is doomed to failure.

There is information about the RAM test and other materials here:

    http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Hardware_Tshoot

    B. retrieve data detach a healthy disk when you are unable to Windows

1 remove the drive and put it in a box of USB drive or use a USB adapter. Attach it to a computer that is running a working XP/Vista/Windows7 installation. Use the work of Windows Explorer to copy the data to the hard drive of the system to the rescue and burn data on cd or dvd.

    2. you can start the target computer with a Bart PE (if you use XP) or a Linux live CD like Knoppix and retrieve the data in this way. General information about the use of Knoppix for this are:

You will need a computer with two cd records, which is an engraver of CD/DVD OR a USB stick with a capacity to hold your data OR an external USB hard disk formatted FAT32 (not NTFS) *. Download Knoppix .iso image file and create your bootable CD. If you do this in a previous (XP or Vista) operating system, you will need the third burning like Nero, Roxio or the free ImgBurn software (Windows 7 can burn .isos natively). Burn as an image, not in the form of data. Then boot with the CD that you created, and Knoppix will be able to see the files in Windows. If you use the USB key or an external hard disk, right-click on its icon (on the desktop) to get its properties and uncheck "read only". Then click on it to open it. Note that the mouse action by default in the window manager used by Knoppix (KDE) is a simple click to open instead of double-click traditional MS Windows. If you want to burn CD/DVDs, use the K3b program.

    * My understanding is that you can now write on NTFS from Linux partition. If you wish to do this, Google for instructions on the use of the NTFS driver.

The files you have downloaded show a transitional situation. The system could not connect properly to download Windows Update, but something happened to eliminate this problem. More recently, you've managed to download and install some updates and there are updates downloaded and ready to be installed after 03:00 this morning. I can't immediately see if the SP1 update is among these updates. You could take control of the update process by changing the automatic installation to one by which you download and install manually. This could reduce the time needed to complete what may be a lengthy process.

    Hi Gerry

After receiving your message, I installed Avast. The computer has improved and the next day he was back to being so very slow. Took 45 minutes to start!

Wake up BSOD a few minutes after starting.  Then I start and it's OK.  Then when I go into IE I get a new one.  Then, everything is OK for a long time (often for the rest of the day).  Trouble started when I downloaded Firefox, while IE was found to have a big security problem.  Download problems.  Tried to go back to the previous state good.  Still getting BSOD.  Then I backed up all personal files, reinstalled windows 3 times!  Still no luck.  Updates seem to work.  I have no material on it, more just printer, keyboard, mouse and speakers.  Something about a Bad pool caller and something on a manually initiated crash appear to be the most common BSOD.  Anyway, I don't understand all this.  I tried to talk with Microsoft technical support, but they could not help and indicate that it could be the hard drive itself.

You probably highlighted the problem: Norton.

Get rid of Norton. Anything and everything that made by Norton.

Regarding AntiVirus - free are very good: Avira, AVG, Avast

You could spend ~ 60USD during two years of eSET NOD32 AntiVirus (not more - just product AntiVirus) and which would be more worthwhile.

In your case, here is what I propose...

Choose one product other than Norton or McAfee. Get it.

Uninstall the Norton stuff (use their removal there tool.)

After a reboot - install your new product and update after the installation.

Run a full scan with it.

Then - just to make sure you started on the right foot...

    Search for malware:
Download, install, execute, update and perform analyses complete system with the two following applications:

Remove anything they find. Reboot when necessary. (You can uninstall one or both when finished.)

Search online with eSet Online Scanner. Remove everything it finds.

    Reset.
