  Your office is frozen?   If not, stop or reboot can wait for something to finish - you close all open applications?   Allow you your system to connect to the internet (these pesky background downloads or you are not always aware of synchronization)

  As for hard shutdown - with button / stop

  Have you held in the power button for about 15 seconds to stop hard - otherwise he's asleep.

  AHA!  I also noticed you are using a D-Link Extender, which indicates that you don't have a router.  According to your description of your Internet configuration, the device emitting IP (DHCP server) addresses is likely on a device outside your home.

  If this is the case, this device is likey to not allow devices to "talk" to each other on his network.

  Sorry to hear that. If you do not have a backup you should stop trying to fix it now. You may lose all your data. Take it for a free trial at any Apple store.

• iMac will not print correctly to Photosmart 2610xi

  I am running Snow Leopard and tried to install the original software using the CD for the printer so I can use the scan features. That did not work, so I went and downloaded the latest software suite on the site of HP for Snow Leopard. The printer responds, but the stalls and then prints a line of nonsense, then keeps continuous and ongoing. I have to stop the print job to stop smoking. Other computers on my home network print on the printer fine (Windows machines).

  I also tried the uninstall of the software suite, remove the printer and add it again. Nothing has worked. I get an error when you install the printer on the iMac that some of the software of the printer is missing and it may not work. Available at HP software installation does not solve anything.

  The software from the remnants of left of CD in your system that the standard uninstall program did not remove.  Reinstall the software from the CD, and then remove it with the option "scrubber":

  Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard / click Uninstall HP
  Click on continue
  Highlight your device in the left pane
  Hold down the Ctrl and Opt Cmd and click on uninstall
  There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall all hp software. (At this point, if you continue, all HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
  Click on continue and let it finish

  Restart your Mac

  Now run a software update.

  Then, remove and reinstall the printer in System Preferences, Print & Fax.

  You do not have the software now since Snow Leopard as well print & scan drivers built-in. scan from Preview apps or Image Capture. Scan from the front panel of the printer does not work yet.
