  When you perform a clean installation of Windows (which is what I assume you are talking about "formatted my Dell Vostro), you must reinstall all hardware drivers.

  If you have used a method of restoration costs of factory Dell, then drivers for integrated hardware would have been included.

  So...

  If you used a CD to install Windows XP to do a clean install of windows AND your wifi adapter is built into your computer, go to the Dell Support, enter your Service tag, download drivers for your computer.  Note: you must proceed even if your wifi adapter is not integrated into your computer, because you must install drivers for other devices on your computer.

  If your wifi adapter is NOT integrated with your computer, visit the website of the manufacturer of the adapter, and download the appropriate driver.

  I recently bought a SD2008 (2008/11/28) to replace an older Linksys 10/100 switch for my home network. This switch connects to an ASA 5505 to go to the internet. I have improved since most of my pc have 10/100/1000 and the new NAS I purchased also connects to 1000 so I wanted to speed internally.

  Too bad. I found the answer on a completely different thread that actually worked. I've linked the SD2008 to the ASA 5505 with a crossover cable, set the port speed/duplex AUTO/AUTO, restarted the ASA, and everything was back to normal.

  So much for the detection of cut MDI/MDI-X auto...

  I bought a DELL Vostro 1520 in 2009.  Recently, I installed Linux on it and would like to reinstall Vista and my Win7 upgrade in a virtual machine.  The problem is that my Windows product key dissipated at the bottom of my laptop.  I have my upgrade product key Win7, but I can't use this disc to install Win7 without the first installation of Vista.  How can I do to get my key.

  I have a home network with only two devices (more the router) on this subject.  The first is a portable computer, the second is a desktop PC / multimedia.

  My problem is that when I try to transfer a file from one computer to another, the transfer is terribly slow (for example, a 200 MB file will take 30 minutes).  I know that we cannot wait to be as fast as advertised wireless transfer rates by the manufacturer, but 100 kb/s is just too slow - especially when you consider that I can download files from the internet (on the home network, through the same router) to > 600 kb / s.  So, while I am very confused of what could be the problem, I'm pretty of course it is not a question of signal strength (and leaning me more towards a PC issue rather than a router problem).
  I looked online and saw people suggests to disable remote differential Compression and WIndows meeting space (which I did on both computers) - but my problem persists.

  Someone at - it any other suggestions?

There are 5 other devices connected in wifi and the system is stable for days if my macbook is not connected. Other devices include iphone, android phone, kindle, another a little newer macbook pro. As soon as I start my wifi device on my mac pro book and log on to the network, the drops of internet connection to all devices on the network and I have to power cycle the router. The router is relatively new (less than a year). It's a TRENDnet TEW 812DRU. This problem moved not initially. My laptop works fine on all other wifi networks, that I connect.
