my lan adapter fried by lightning?

Here's my problem. I have a hp compaq cq45 laptop with Vista Home Basic. the other day there was a thunderstorm, but I left the lan cable plugged into the laptop. the next day, I found that there is no connection to the local network more, it shows that the cable is disconnected. now I tried to reboot the system and the same problem persists. is it possible that the lightning fried the laptop lan port? or is it something wrong with the cable? I also tried to uninstall and reinstall the driver for the ethernet port (Realtek) and it has been a success. If the adapter is really fried not the computer would be able to find the material? is there anything else I can do to check on it?

When you plug the cable on the computer, you see the two lights on the NIC?

Also, it should not be completely fried for not working.  He can still recognize the card but not a cable.

  • Equium M70 LAN adapter - it tells me to check the cable connections.

When I connect a cable to the LAN adapter to the back of the laptop, how can the status LEDs should he show.
I have only one view. Does that mean I have a problem.
I am trying to connect to my ISP using an ethernet cable. He always says check cable connections.

Near the port of LAN, there are two LEDs available: orange and green. When the LAN cable is OK and connection is where the Green led is permanent. The orange LED blinks when data transfer is available. Please check it carefully.

If the Green LED is not on after connecting the cable LAN there are three possibilities:
    The LAN cable is defective
Your router settings are bad (MAC settings or IP address)
Or in the worst cases the LAN card on your laptop is defective (check in the Device Manager)

  • Satellite L505 - 10J W - Lan Adapter missing

    Hello

the W-Lan-adapter to my laptop (Satellite L505-10J PSLS3E) suddenly disappeared yesterday during normal use; shortly before the Wi - Fi connection still worked. The adapter is no more displayed in the Device Manager of the first operating system (Windows 7 Professional 64 bit); the second one (Ubuntu 10.4) does not either - it's as if the laptop has simply not provided with an adapter.
I have no idea what to do - is the broken WiFi adapter or someone knows how to solve the problem?

    Hello

The laptop really support a wireless network card!
It must be equipped with a Wlan RTL8191SE Realtek 802.11bgn chip.

You see some unknown devices in device-> network cards Manager?
If Yes, then this might be a wireless network card!

In this case, you must download the WLan driver again and should install it.
Please download the Wlan driver from this page:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/WLAN/

If it does not, access to the BIOS, set it to default settings, restart the machine and try again Wlan driver!

I guess you have an intel lan card, so it would be useful to install the latest software proset intel, which must be downloaded on the website of intel.

    Hello

I guess that you have a laptop, if your copy of Windows was preinstalled on it there is a big chance that the driver is built into your computer. To check, click Start > double click on C: > double-click the files to program files > (locate) double-click the folder of the cabins. From there, you can install your wireless driver.

However, if the instructions above does not work, then download the driver from the website of the manufacturer of your computer, they should have ALL the drivers for your computer. :-)

Use a wired connection or download driver WiFi like below on another computer and transfer
it to this computer on a removable media such as a CD, DVD or USB card or stick.

Panel - device - network - WiFi note the check mark and all the info on the model Manager-
Double-click - writing Drivers version tab - click the driver update (this can do nothing as)
MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right click on the device - UNINSTALL - REBOOT -.
This will refresh the driver stack.

Go to system Maker and search for the WiFi Driver updated - download - SAVE - go where you put it.
Top - right click RUN AS ADMIN - REBOOT

Then go to the site of the manufacturer of the device and get even more recent (Realtek, Intel, or one that makes the device) and
    try to install again.

Download - SAVE - go to where you put it-click on - RUN AS ADMIN.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

  • LAN adapter is not available. Pavilion 15 P032ND

    Dear HP,

I recently bought this laptop and it has been amazing so far. However the ethernet LAN card is showing is only the network WIFI works fine but the LAN adapter is not available. Even in Device Manager is not there. I installed an SSD, so I'm on a new install with no HP Recovery Manager but the LAN has been working well for 2 weeks before he disappeared.

There are a few features unknown in my device manager that can be. When I install the LAN drivers from the HP site but it says that no adapters were found.

What would be the best course of action to get this feature. I can't go without the LAN because I use this laptop as my office with the lid closed. And the WIFI does not work when the lid is closed.

Of course, this is very strange!

Just for fun, remove the Intel wireless card and see if the ethernet adapter shows.

If not, I would say that you had a fortuitous failure of integrated network interface, and you should contact HP for technical support under the warranty.

  • The setting of file sharing and printer in my LAN adapter is being turned off when I reboot. Why? What could be responsible for this?

I put the file and printer for Microsoft Networks share on IT in my LAN adapter properties. When I reboot it has itself turned off.

My PC running Windows 7 64 bit.
With leader & Printer Sharing, I am able to access the files on another PC 32 bit Windows 7 and the PC can access mine. After a reboot of my PC is possible - file & print sharing has set itself off the power in the properties of the adapter on my PC (the other PC is still OK).

In Control Panel / advanced sharing settings I also file and the specified printer sharing option - and which remains lit on a restart. But it seems that it is not enough to allow these two PC to see each other.

When I turn on sharing in the properties of the adapter to the printer & file, the two computers can then see each other (restart is not required).

On the other PC, file & printer sharing survives through a reboot without reinitialization.

I removed the two PCs of our homegroup yesterday evening to try to identify where the rub.
My PC is to use the standard Windows Firewall current t.

It is an aspect of various strange problems, I was 'enjoying' with Windows 7.  Following suggestions of the other forums, I turned off of packages jiumbo and created a connectionid identical on both systems. The Intel web site confirms that I have the Intel network adapter driver.

It's very strange. Any suggestion will be highly appreciated.

I think that I found the cause of the problem.
It is a Lenovo Thinkpad and it comes with 'Logins', software to help manage network connections.
Buried deep in the settings is a security option disable file and printer sharing.  I disabled that and will test by restarting later.

  • Problem: Screen resolution & Lan adapt.

    Problem 1: Screen Resolution.
First of all start, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Second boot, Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit. Then I didn't work as it used to be. Now using, Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit. After this install and reinstall, I was confused and didn't know what was my original using bits. : S (supposed to be 32-bit)

Okay, so I was trying to backup D: drive and tries to start and do a clean install from disk wins7. But unfortunately, I had my iso installed with Windows7 Home Premium 64 - bit. FYI, I didn't know what Wins7 bit iso has been in the cd, so I just started it and installed with this 64-bit cd.

Then I tried to change my screen resolution. There were two options: 800 x 600 and 1024 x 768. I changed it to 1024 x 768, but it will not work. It's weird. I went to Device Manager and checked on the Image adapter: Standard VGA graphics adapters.
    Problem 2: The Lan adapter.
Cable connected to the modem, it flashes. but I could not simply go online, and I didn't know why. Is it lack of the new wins7? Or my adapter lan was broken?
Don't let some answers, thanks in advance.
