  So, as you can see in the title, I had a problem recently where an application on my Macbook brand new exit. The window disappears, but the icon of the application does not close on my dock.   Just to be on the safe side and avoid any corruption of the disk, whenever I had to make a hard stop, I reboot in Recovery Mode and make a record of first aid with disk on the device and volume utility.

  If you are using a version of OS X prior to El Capitan, it is called repair disc and repair disk permissions.
