My magic mouse 2 will not scroll vertically

I have a new Magic Mouse 2 and paired with my Macbook Pro running Yosemite.  I can click and physically move the mouse around the page, but I can't scroll vertically or horizontally using my index finger on the mouse.

Hi, tlutzy1.

Please visit Apple support communities.

I understand that the multi touch gestures and scrolling do not work with your new Magic Mouse 2.  So that the gestures and the scrolling to work as expected with the Magic Mouse 2, you must update your MacBook Pro to El Capitan.

Magic Mouse 2

  • Lightning connector, built-in battery
  • Requires OS X v10.11 or later version

  • Magic Mouse 2 will not scroll

I just bought a new mouse Magic Mouse, this one is 2 mm.

It took some doing to connect, but I can't scroll. In the mouse system prefs, I followed the speed and double-click speed, but no display option to put in place the scroll feature that I had in my old mouse Magic (from to 2014).

Under Bluetooth in my control over the office bar, it says my mouse is connected, but the icon looks like my old wired mouse with little follow-up of the button. (Screenshot attached) Note that I had to use in the last days (the former wired one) because I'm working on my desktop computer and without the new 2 MM working group, I had to have a way of preferences and restart, etc.

Now to the preferences of the mouse... If I'm in the mouse preferences and click Set Up mouse Bluetooth, the screen following search search and no indication 'no mouse found.' (Screen attached)

Either way, I use OS 10.10.4. I saw a few notes that the 2 MM needs El Capitan to work properly online. But I dare not updated to El Capitan because I am owner of a graphic design company and I've seen too many indications that my InDesign CC will be a lot of conflicts with El Capitan, or doesn't work at all.

Very frustrating. Please note I've owned Macs since 1991 and I have never come across anything quite like this. I would have my ability to scroll back!

    Thank you all,

    Susan

Susan, I hate to say this, but Magic Mouse 2 is for the El Capitan.  It says so on the box.   It will only work as designed when using this OS.   If you need to put away until you can use the £l Capitan and buy one of the MM! mouse or other mark to meet your current needs.     I don't know how you must feel, but the BONE El Capitan is far ahead of his predecessors and is almost certainly intended to define the style in a certain way in the future.  This is why it was necessary to design a mouse to meet some of the unique qualities of El Capitan in preparing for subsequent updates.   He had to go back some time.

  • Magic Mouse 2 is not scrolling

I just bought a Magic Mouse 2, and when I drag my fingers on it as indicated to scroll, it does not scroll vertically or horizontally. I read the instructions, watched videos... nothing. Check the settings and everything. Please help me fix it!

    Hi there sepowers51409,

Looks like your Magic Mouse 2 is not all scrolling when you drag a single finger upwards or downwards at the top of the mouse. First, I would check to see if, perhaps, the scrolling speed is set at a minimum, which could make it appear as if the scrolling does not work.

Change the way your mouse works

You have another computer to test with to help us to isolate and fix the problem? Don't forget to UN-pair he from the current computer if you do, so that it didn't is no complications when you test.

If you want to remove (désapparier) a device from the list of devices on your Mac, follow these steps:

    1. Choose the Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Bluetooth.
    2. Place the pointer on the device you want to remove, and then click the button which appears next to the device name.

From: using a Bluetooth mouse, keyboard or trackpad with your Mac

If you do not have another Mac to test this then I would be:

1 UN-pair the mouse with the above steps

    2 remove the batteries

3 reset the PRAM on your computer

    4. replace the batteries in the mouse

5 pairing and testing new scrolling.

If the problem persists can create a new admin user or test this point to another user, you may have on the computer?

  • Problem with Microsoft wireless mobile mouse 4000 scroll will not scroll on any computer?

My mouse does not scroll vertically, but it scrolls horizontally. I tried different mouse on this computer and they are all scroll very well and I tested this mouse on different computers and it won't yet scroll. I followed through all the utilities provided on this site (checking the HID, reinstalling the software, verification of parasitic programs, etc.) and nothing has worked. Is there something else I'm missing?

    Hi Vjenkins,

As the mouse does not work on different computers and other mice work on this computer, it seems that there is a problem with the mouse itself.

Sinceyou have followed the steps mentioned in article to resolve problems with the mouse button or scroll the parameters, I would suggest that you contact Microsoft hardware support for further assistance.

  • VerticalFieldManager will not scroll long LabelField?

    Hello

I have a VerticalFieldManager. I add a LabelField unique to it. His text is long, so it spills over the bottom of the screen. My application shows that there is more text with the vertical scroll arrows. However, it will not scroll down. The same layout with a bunch of buttons works fine, scrolling works without problem.

Is there something special we have to do for long LabelFields, for its parent VerticalFieldManager to scroll?

    Thank you

Substituting LabelField RichTextField, that's what I need.

    Thank you

  • Installed Firefox 3.6.10 now my mouse wheel does not scroll

I just installed FF 3.6.10 update, and now my mouse wheel does not scroll. I checked my settings of the mouse, and everything is OK. Mouse wheel scrolls in applications non-Firefox, including offline and IE records online. The mouse wheel has worked well with the latest version of FF. Also tried to plug in a different mouse, (mechanical an old man to whom), same problem. If this cannot be corrected, how to uninstall the last update and revert to the previous version?

Please read this article to see if it helps:

  • Wireless Notebook Presenter Mouse 8000 will not enter pairing mode (part 2)

I tried the fix in this issue here:

and it does not solve my problem - however the described issue is identical.
My Presenter Mouse 8000 has a permanent green light on the bottom, pressing the button on the dongle (receiver) lance the pairing wizard who tells to press me the button of the mouse for 5 seconds - I followed these instructions and the unit is not pair.  I think (I remember) which she flashed red and green when it is matching, however in my case, the Green led is permanently on and not blinking.
I changed the batteries for new ones - that has not fixed my problem
I tried on another computer matching - this does not solve my problem
I tried to install 3 different versions of the software (versions 8.0.25, the version on the CD that came with the mouse and the plus up to version 8.2 of the date), this does not solve my problem.
This mouse has worked in the past-, so I do not understand why it would stop working now after a battery change?
I'm on Windows 7 x 64 both computers, with that I tried to use the mouse.
Are there measures other that I can take to solve this problem?
Thanks in advance for your answer

    Hello

    Method 1:

I suggest that you try to do a system restore and check whether the problem is resolved.

    In Windows 7 system restore

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/products/features/system-restore

    Method 2:

I suggest you update Bluetooth drivers on the computer and check:

Updated a hardware driver that is not working properly

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/update-a-driver-for-hardware-that-isn ' t-work correctly

If it still does not work, then it may be due to a defective material.

  • Last Magic Mouse 2 is not compatible with the Mavericks 10.95 - and that stinks

It is not so much a question as an expression of stunned disappointment.  My old mouse Magic went kablooey, and so I got a new.  Unfortunately when I the paired with my MacPro 2012, running the Mavericks 10.95 (sorry Apple, you have not matched the Mavericks speed and performance with Yosemite and El Capitan) I discovered that features the touch like scrolling and swiping has not worked.

After an hour to read the little booklet that comes with the mouse, zap the PRAM, reset the SMC and usually ask myself? *  I watched the Magic Mouse box and found the answer in 3 grey dots on white type: requires OS 10,11 or higher.  All right.  Mea culpa, caveat emptor, blah blah.  I should have read through the entire page of the Magic Mouse on the Apple Store Web site, but I already have the product so don't figure there were many new take into account.

However, it seems strange to me that a completely necessary peripherals does not work with a BONE from a few years ago.

There are loyal customers (30 years of computer science and I have never used or owned a PC) who use your products as professional (I'm a sales manager of creation) and, for reasons that go beyond taste, prefer your earlier and faster OS.  Apple wants to move the herd along for many understandable reasons.  I do advertising.  I get it.  Offers new features and the "improvements" that Miss on users who refuse to put up-to-date is perfectly logical.  But prevents them from having a functional Apple mouse goes too far.  It will encourage strong armament and it stinks.

In light of Apple's strategy, it seems pretty ironic that the same company that once derided the PC world as thinkers authoritarian group straight out of Orwell is curve at this level to get its users to conform to his version of the future.  What the * happened to "Think Different"?

Good question, I guess, and I can only opine; as you know, we are here just volunteers.

The question is... when a company changes its products.   As I see it, different operating systems have developed over the years at a huge pace, such that cannot not could be foreseen four years ago.   So the Magic Mouse 1 was fine for the moment but did not have the ability to adapt to meet the current needs.     So what does Apple?   It must be a new mouse that will respond to current needs and anticipate the needs for some time in the future.

You can still buy the old MM1, although you might have to go hunting.   And of course, you can take the old one back if it was purchased less than 14 days ago in most countries and 28 days ago in the United Kingdom and most European countries, I believe.

I hope you get over your troubles.

  • APPLE MAGIC MOUSE - THIS WILL WORK ON WINDOWS?

I'm running Windows 7 on two different computers and would like to buy the Apple Magic Mouse (wireless).  It will work with Windows if I install the drivers from third party sites, I see online?
I like to hear from anyone who tried.  Some reviews say it works... Some say it is not.
Given that some Apple systems have installed MAC and Windows systems... I don't understand why Apple does not only provide drivers for this mouse works with both.

    Greg

    Hello Greg,.

Apple magic mouse won't work with Windows 7 or else no matter what Windows operating system. It is specially designed for Mac users and not users of Windows.

The requirements for the magic mouse from Apple has been considered by the Apple site

    The system configuration required

    * Computer Mac with Bluetooth wireless technology
    * Mac OS X 10.5.8 or later with Wireless Mouse Software Update 1.0* or Mac OS X v10.6.1 or later with Wireless Mouse Software Update 1.0
    * Existing keyboard and mouse for the installation
    * Two AA batteries (included)

  • Magic mouse 2 does not

Write to help someone of another encounter the problem that I solved it simply.

I bought a Magic Mouse 2 to use with my MacBook Pro running the El Capitan Beta

The computer recognizes left clicks and clicks and moving as on a conventional mouse, but wouldn't recognize gestures. It wouldn't scroll, zoom or browse... I tried to unplug and reconnect, reboot the computer, plug the mouse temporarily...

This problem has been fixed as soon as I lowered the rating of the Beta to the public version. Wish I didn't have to do it though. Really, you should be set!

  • The mouse pointer will not appear during the games full screen

Hi, I'm runnding windows 7 Home premium 64-bit and for some reason my pionter mouse will not be displayed in full screen games. I thought it was the gambling problem, but my brother happened to want to play a game as to my account on the computer rather than its, and the mouse poitner don't appear.

This is why it must be some sort of setting. I can't do the mouse disappear or invisible during games or anything like that, and I tried all means to make the mouse appear in the options of the pointer mouse.

    Any idea?

When this happened to me, I turned off in the options of mouse pointer trails and that solved
