My mouse freezes as soon as I connect a flash drive for my USB XP

My mouse freezed up as soon as I connect the flash drive to my USB key.  I then get a message that says: "power surge on Hub Port, a USB device has exceeded the limits of its hub port power.  Help solve this problem click this message. "Which of course, I can't because the mouse is stuck to the top.  I then turn off the computer by the turn button and reboot.  It is then very well until I have plug the flash drive and then I get the same thing again.  I have several flashdrives and it does the same thing with each of them.  I tried to take to another computer and they worked very well.  I scanned the virus and they were clear.  I also scanned my computer for viruses and it was clear.  My mouse is not a USB mouse.  It's an old computer and caches at the back of the tower.  The only other USB device I have is my scanner and it works fine.  And I get the same thing, even when the scanner is disconnected.   I am confused because I can't save or retrieve information from my flashdrives.  My daughter says my windows is confused and thinks I have too many devices plugged in at the same time when I'm not.   I have Windows XP.   How can I solve this problem?

This is the result of not not more likely USB ports. You can try to update the drivers of usb device, but if the problem there is not a lot you can do otherwise than to buy an expansion usb card. You can disable usb error reports to stop seeing the error.

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/329632

1. open Device Manager

2 expand the Bus USB controllers section. Are looking for, then
Double-click a host controller that has either the word "Universal" or
'Open' in the title.

3. in the Properties dialog box, click the Advanced tab, and then select the checkbox 'don't tell me about USB errors ".
Note: If you deselect this option, all other USB error messages will also die.

Check the BIOS for hard drive setting.

Make sure that you do not connect the drive to a SATA/RAID port.

Old IDE drives - check the jumper on the drive (use "Cable Select" as a starting point), the BIOS must also be set in legacy/compatibility/IDE mode. Note: If you currently use the AHCI mode, then switch to IDE mode may cause Windows to boot.

    Hi jaglaser,

Perform the following troubleshooting steps and check if it helps.

    • Unplug the book digital computer drive and close the drive software. Once disconnected, remove all memory cards that may have installed in your player.

    • Reconnect the drive and test it for proper functioning. If you still experience the problem, proceed to the next step.

    • Unplug the book digital computer drive and the internal format of the memory of the digital book reader.

    • If the problem is still happening, turn off your digital book reader and do a Hard Reset (https://us.en.kb.sony.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/31628/c/65%2C66/kw/31628). After doing a Hard Reset, it will be necessary to authorize the device again.

    • If possible, install the drive on a different computer software to test.

If my post answered your question, please mark it as an "accepted Solution".

  • Time Machine: If I connect a new drive for a backup off site, can I go back to my old drive?

Time machine will lose all memory of my previous backups so I redirect temporarily Time Machine on a fresh hard drive, backup the entire disk for storage off-site and then reconnect the original hard drive? Obviously, this isn't something I can just 'try' and risk losing the value of a year of backups. Please tell me if this can be done safely. Thanks in advance.

I do it on 2 computers on a regular basis to have off-site backups and have never had any problem when to return for the local backup drives.

  • Keyboard and mouse freeze on Satellite L355

Occasionally, immediately after startup or the awakening of the day before, the keyboard and the mouse freezes as soon as the keyboard is used.
The mouse works before the Frost, but will stop as soon as the keyboard is used. For example, the computer works fine and I can launch a program, download email etc, but as soon as I use the keyboard then it freezes.

A USB or wireless mouse works in this mode, but not the mouse computer. On-screen keyboard also works with the external mouse. Unfortunately, I don't have a USB keyboard to see if it will work also.

    Any ideas?

In my view, this problem could be linked to the question in your other thread:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums//message.jspa?MessageID=172295

Maybe all these laptop strange behaviors are related to the question of the motherboard
Therefore, as suggested in the other thread:
Get back in touch with the guys from the ASP. They replaced the mobo twice
Maybe it was not good enough.

  • The mouse freezes at startup properly off. Mouse only thaws and works correctly when I hold the power button to stop and turn back.

I just got a new Inspiron 1545 computer 2 weeks ago and it works fine but I got a problem for the last two days where my mouse will freeze after that I stopped it using the stop option. When my computer starts you can move the mouse, but after a few seconds, it freezes, and you can't move the mouse but the keyboard works. I try to restart the computer with the option to reboot from the start menu and when it starts up to the top of the mouse freezes still. No matter how many times I try to stop or restart properly mouse unlock not. It only works if I stopped it by pressing the power and then switch on again. Any ideas as to what I could do to fix this?

The sad truth is that the mouse freeze problem is back. I searched the forum for other solutions, but so far without success.

I am currently using MS Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500 and just to make sure that the problem is with the mouse, I inverted this mouse on my other laptop which works also on Windows 7. Mouse freeze problem is replicated, which never happened before for my other laptop.
Conclusion, until Microsoft is able to solve this problem, I opted for Logitech. I bought a Logitech M235 wireless mouse last night and keep your fingers crossed that the mouse freeze problem will disappear.
Life is too short to be stressed more mouse freeze problem.

  • keyboard and mouse freeze, hang, do not work

again, the question was better but once again tonight.

I have windows xp pro, acer power non-portable pc, ps2 requires laser (not wireless) mouse.

at random times and programs, they will work and the mouse may hang and then keyboard. Sometimes I can take the mouse out of the back and use it in another form. Sometimes he stop and go in that direction or not responded on the card, even if the light is on. I heard today 3 beeps of the tower and the keyboard and the mouse has frozen.  If the keyboard is blocked so the only thing I can do is turn it off and restart. I don't think not that it's too hot because the problem may start immediately or later. the Device Manager in the Control Panel indicates these 2 works correctly and I can't find a place to make sure market. I clean the heat sink.  I'm not real smart but suggestions. What do the beeps mean.

  • Thouch Tablet mouse freeze ONLY into account Admin

I have a new laptop LG with Windows Vista. When I want in my administrator account my mouse works for a few seconds while loading, but as soon as he's done loading it will freeze. But when I connect to my account of comments it works fine. What continues?

    Hello Confussedgirl,

    Thank you for posting.

We will try to restart you PC in safe mode, and then try to connect to your admin account to see if your touchpad works.  If it works in safe mode then a program that you have installed under your admin profile is the problem.  Then, you can use safe mode to remove the last program that was installed before you start to have problems.  These are just suggestions on how to narrow the problem.

Here are the steps to start your computer in safe mode.

Safe mode is useful for troubleshooting problems with programs and drivers that might not start correctly, or that might prevent Windows from starting correctly. If a problem does not reappear when you start in safe mode, you can eliminate the default settings and basic as possible cause device drivers. If a program recently installed, device, or driver prevents Windows from running correctly, you can start your computer in safe mode, and then remove the program that is causing the problem.

    1. Remove all floppy disks, CDs and DVDs from your computer and restart your computer.

Click the button start , click the arrow next to the button lock , then click on restart.

    2. Do one of the following:

      • If your computer has a single operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you need to try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then stop and restart your computer.

      • If your computer has more than one operating system, use the arrow keys to select the operating system you want to start in safe mode, and then press F8.

    3. In the display Advanced Startup Options, use the arrow keys to select the option of safe mode you want and press ENTER. For more information about the options, see startup options (including safe mode).

    4. Log your computer with a user account with administrator rights.

When your computer is in safe mode, you will see marked Safe Mode in the corners of the screen. To leave safe mode, restart your computer and let Windows start normally.

Please let me now if this helps you.

Please I need your help. Another thing that I've been using Microsoft product for as long as I can remember I have never met a poor quality as windows OS 8. • RADIUS 12 satellite - mouse freezes

    Hello
I checked the faq and the "knowledge base" and looked for similar topics in the forum, but the system tells me that it is the first application of its kind despite the web is full of comment.

I have an i7 RADIUS sat 12 win 10, 2 days and the mouse pointer has started to stick, freezing several seconds each time for no reason to re-registration that I can find. I checked the driver and it is up-to-date. I am of course not processes are disabled - in short, I'm stuck unless I have try some of the General google search tips as to disconnect the battery, Press f9 and f10 after start-up etc that I didn't not like make sense.

I wonder if anyone has had this experience and has some wise words please?

    Thank you
    Tom

    Hi Tom,

I think you mean the touchpad freeze... or you are using an external mouse. If this is the first then I had / have the same problem. I have to use an external mouse to solve this problem. I know this isn't good especially when you're on a train or a plane. I hope Toshiba bring out a W10 to the touchpad for this that will solve this problem. On my other laptop, Toshiba, I noticed that there is a separate Touchpad driver. (Actually I had the same problem with my Satellite C55, but it was solved when I loaded the driver for the Touchpad). I hope they release a Touchpad driver soon.

    See you soon,.

  • Intermittent USB mouse freeze

Problem: The mouse cursor freezes intermittently for 3 to 8 seconds or more.  This happens usually when I click on a web link while I'm browsing the internet, but it can happen also when I am with other applications (or just in the background) at random times.  I use WiFi for my internet connection, and my WiFi connection is often flakey, frequently disconnect and reconnect.  The keyboard and touchpad work very well during these gels.  I've owned my system for 11 months, but this problem only is surface a few months ago.  These gels seem to occur just before that I was notified of a low battery level.

Hardware: Wireless mouse from Logitech G7, Sager NP9262 for laptop, Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 processor clocked at 2.66 GHz, dual Nvidia GeForce 8800 M GTX in SLI, 4 GB memory DDR2/800, Intel PRO/Wireless 4965 802.11a/g/n wireless Bluetooth, 3 hard disks, etc.

Software: Logitech SetPoint Control Center 4.72.40 (same driver version), Windows Vista Ultimate 6.0.6001 (64-bit) build 6001 SP1 and all current updates, ZoneAlarm Firewall 8.0.298, AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 8.5.339, Open Office, Firefox 3.0.11, process Explorer 11.33 3.1.0 SeaMonkey 1.1.16, Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0.2 Nero Home Essentials SE, Spybot Search & Destroy 1.6.2.0 Quicken 2006 Basic version R3 , iTunes 8.2, Left 4 Dead and many other things.

    Tried patches:
    (1) I bought and started using fresh batteries in my mouse G7.  This reduces the number of low battery status notifications, but it has not ruled out all other freezes.
    (2) I found that a lot of reports of similar mouse freezes on the web (for example, http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistahardware/thread/99e3491c-9b60-4cd8-8113-90775600b9a8).  I did find that the bug reports which would be applicable to me.
    (3) a tech suggested I unload the Logitech software and try to run the default Vista drivers.  This did not help.
    (4) I downloaded and installed the latest drivers from the Logitech website.  This did not help either.
    (5) the technology suggests then download the latest driver wireless http://downloadmirror.intel.com/17525/eng/ICS_Dv32.exe, I did.  I ran it, but it doesn't have me showed no results.  I rebooted and found that I still had some freezes.
    (6) I then did a clean boot by following the instructions at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/929135.  I got a lot of strange things happen (Firefox does not, for example), but I could up IE7 and through a few web pages.  I've lived several mouse freezes.  Probably, this eliminates outside Vista software as a source of freeze.

Notes: I think that these gels are caused by WiFi, hardware or software (drivers) activity.  Because this problem is surface recently, I doubt that it's a hardware problem.  Find it me more likely that it was caused by a software update, but I don't know exactly when this problem started, or what update could have caused it.

    AlanD2,
Your wireless mouse works on the 2.4 GHz frequency, as do almost all electronic wireless.  It can experience interference of a large number of devices: your LAN card wireless, wireless router, a wireless phone 2.4 GHz, a baby monitor, security camera, a microwave oven, etc.  The list is almost endless.  When you went to the library have not experienced you the problem is probably due to interference with a new device in your House that you can not even be aware has a wireless component or may not be thought of as a possible source of interference.  Do some detective - start noticing exactly when frost occur, how minutes apart, how long it lasts, what time of day, etc.  You should start to see a pattern.  I had people know that similar problems have occurred only when the phone rang or only when the wireless router has been updated of DHCP addresses or only when someone was doing some popcorn for microwave.  I know that sounds crazy, but I ran a business wireless for many years and saw some very strange issues caused by interference.  You said your local wifi has been offline for two days and you haven't seen any interference.  You have a connection WiFi - are you running without wire from your House to a tower that provides your Internet service?  If so, your mouse is getting interference with your wireless radio that communicates with the tower.  And your mouse interferes with your radio, which is causing your wifi service to be flaky.  As I said, I ran an service provider wireless for years and have seen it happen several times.  You will not be able to use a wireless mouse if you use Internet wireless.
