  If I read this correctly, you have a portable computer that do not have an operating system on it.  You try to install Vista and get the error.
  You've restarted the Vista installation?  So then you get the same error? If you have tried to install more than once and continue to receive this error, check that the laptop is capable of Vista?  You may need to check with the manufacturer of the laptop to see if it is able to support Vista.   If you have not saved the document before the reboot - and Windows always give a lot of warning before restarting automatically - while the file disappeared.  There is no way to recover; System Restore does apply to system files, not data.

  You did it any significant hardware or change software on the computer before this problem?

  Try the following steps to set the screensaver to default Windows logon.

  1. Click Start, type regedit in the start search and press ENTER.
  2. Browse to the location:
     HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\ LogonUI\Background
  3. On the right side, double-click the OEMBackgroundelement.
  4. Type 0 in the data of the value
  5. Click OK.
  6. Close the registry editor and restart the computer.

  You should now be able to see default logon screensaver.

  Warning: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.   I do not understand your question. If the laptop can run Windows Vista, it can probably run Windows 7 too.

  To run Windows 7 64-bit, the processor must be a minimum Core 2 Duo.

  * 1 gigabyte (GB) of RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)

  When I plug my new 6s more in iTunes, it says it cannot be used because it requires a newer version of iTunes. I just downloaded the updated version (11.4) and my OS X 10.6.8.

  I tried to reset my preferences, as well, and only two devices have linked to my iTunes account. Don't know what to do... can someone help?
