My new windows 7 upgrade, but love...

I have to admit, this is the first platform of windows, that I liked.  Especially the snap function!  This has made my life so much easier.  But I am disappointed with just one thing, I often flit between a browser window and the windows of two snap-in.  And I'm surprised it isn't a function to return to the display of the two.  Or is it?  If this isn't the case, I wish they would understand that in an update.  As for the moment I click on each windows wink in turn to take that point of view.  And it's a pain!  Maybe if they had this option on the right click menu of the view on the program in the taskbar.

I am on a site I visit every day, Facebook, for example. It has a link to a story or perhaps an invitation for something I want to know more. I did not have this problem with the previous version.

  • I bought the Windows Anytime Upgrade, but the software will not be installed.

Help... I bought the Windows Anytime Upgrade on Microsoft Office software to my Vista laptop, but the software will not be installed. Operation message is not supported on this platform. How to get around the facility? I have the product key number, but can not get so far to enter.

I think that you bought the right product. Updates at any time are for the upgrade edition of Windows 7 to a more expensive edition. This isn't what you need to upgrade a Vista system to Windows 7. While Vista upgrades are no longer available from the Microsoft Store.

I suggest that you return to the Microsoft Store site and use the contact methods to discuss your problem with an agent.

  • folder opens in a new window after update, but the options are correct

    Hello!

After a few updates to Vista in the past two days, each folder now opens in a new window.

The problem is: the folder options are correct. They are set to "open each folder in the same window. So I guess this is a new bug in Vista.

You can try to restore Windows back to a previous working state, and then disabling the updates so that it works this way.

Step 1: To restore Windows to a previous state (before defective updates):

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/what-is-system-restore (open the link and follow the instructions).

Step 2: To disable the automatic updates (so the update defective will not be reinstalled):

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/turn-automatic-updating-on-or-off (in step 3, select 'Off').

WARNING: It is not recommended and sometimes even dangerous to disable automatic updates, because they improve the security and reliability of Windows. If the procedures above solves your problem, this means that an update was the likely cause.

Please report back with your results. Then we can reactivate the automatic updates, but block the update that causes this problem.

  • Windows 7 Upgrade but the display is all wrong

I have a Dell PC with an Intel Pentium 4 processor 2.20 GHz, 2 GB of DDR SDRAM 333 MHz and an integrated Intel 3D AGP graphics card.  After upgrading Windows XP to Windows 7, the view is terrible.  Background is blurry, icons are huge, and pop-up windows extend beyond the screen.  In Control Panel, appearance and personalization, the screen resolution set, the only option of 'Display' is "E1909W (Analog) from Dell on the Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" and "Resolution" drop-down list is locked at 640 x 480 (i.e., no other resolution options are able to be selected).  I'm afraid that my system is not capable of supporting Windows 7 but am not sure if any help or advice is appreciated.

    Hello

You must visit the Dell Support Web site.

    http://www.Dell.com/support/home/us/en/04?c=&l=&s=BSD?c=us

Enter your Service tag number to find your product

    * How to find the service tag locate the label service

Once your product is check in drivers & downloads, if any display driver for Windows 7 is available.

If so, update the driver and check if you are able to change the resolution or not.

If no display driver is available, then your machine is not compatible for Windows 7 Upgrade.

In addition, you can share your Dell service here number & I'll check the rest for you.

Kind of feeding from my XP computer died a few weeks ago so I got a new computer. Just replace the power supply in the old PC to get my old files. I tried to backup my Firefox profile from my old computer to the new computer Windows 7, I had Firefox running for about a week. When I loaded my supported by profile and restarted Firefox, it seems back in the style of the old Firefox, or at least the current version that was running on my XP computer. • The benefits of the Windows 7 Home Premium to Professional Upgrade will be lost to the new Windows 8 Upgrade?

I ordered the 7 Home Premium to Professional Upgrade when I ordered my new HP computer, I picked up today. (for which I paid $65,00)
It also suggested me the upgrade of Windows 8 when it comes out @ 15.00.
If I lose all the benefits of the first upgrade to install Windows 8, I want to go back to the first upgrade unopened.
They allow only a few days to do this.
    Thanks for your help

The base provided with your computer (Windows 7 Home Premium) license will already be a license of qualification. An Express (Windows 7 Home Premium to professional) upgrade may not be an eligible license because its an upgrade. To use the Windows Pro 8 upgrade, the base provided with the computer license will be it.

So, Yes, you could return the Anytime Upgrade If you wish.

  • Cannot open a new window of an existing window since the last update.

The shortcut on the desktop no longer works, it won't launch in my Start menu, from my quick launch area or in the program file itself. Since I already have a browser window open I am able to open a new window in the menu browser & in opening a new tab & "moving" towards a new window... but if I always close all the windows browser (as for a reboot) I'll be screwed.

Firefox is my main browser if it would be great if it could be repaired.

    Hello

Some Firefox problems can be solved by performing a clean reinstall. This means that you remove Firefox program files, and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:

Note: You can print these steps or consult them in another browser.

    1. Download the latest version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org office and save the installer to your computer.
    2. Once the download is complete, close all Firefox Windows (click on quit in the file menu or Firefox).
    3. Remove the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
      • Windows:

        • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
        • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla Firefox
      • Mac: Delete Firefox in the Applications folder.
      • Linux: If you have installed Firefox with the distribution-based package manager, you must use the same way to uninstall: see Install Firefox on Linux. If you have downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
    4. Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
      1. Double-click on the downloaded Setup file and go through the steps in the installation wizard.
      2. Once the wizard is completed, click to open Firefox directly after clicking the Finish button.

More information on the resettlement of Firefox can be found here.

WARNING: Uninstaller or the use of Firefox and not run a third remover as part of this process, because who could permanently delete your Firefox data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and passwords saved. These can be recovered, unless they have been backed up on an external device!

Please report back to see if this helped you!

    Thank you.

  • 'New window' does work well across multiple screens

    OS X 10.11.3 (15 D 21)

I have two monitors connected to my rMBP with Thunderbolt ports.

To facilitate the description, I want hereby the two views under A and b.

Assuming an application (for example, chrome, finder) window was launched in A display. So I want to open another window display B. I right click the icon in the Dock on display B and click on 'new window '.

What I expected, it's a new window opens in view B because I clicked on 'new window' display B, but the reality is a new window always opens in display has.

On the other side, the same operation between different spaces (desktops) has no such situation. New windows are open correctly in places where they are "printing".

Is there a bug in 'new window' between multiple screens?

    Hello is.

I understand that you are wanting to open new windows of applications on the screen that you are working on. It is perhaps because of the way in which several screens are managed. Revisit some information to get this working for you.

When you open a new window of an application, it will open in the active view. Even if you have the dock on the other screen, look at your taskbar to see if it is translucent. If this is the case, then it is not your main screen and your applications will be opened on the main screen. See the image below for what I will speak about reference.

Take a look at the article below for more information on the use of several screens. I know the article refers to the Mavericks, but the information extends to OS X El Capitan as features are concerned.

OS X El Capitan: connect multiple monitors to your Mac

  • Windows Vista Upgrade shut down my computer at 03:00 and 7 hours disappeared

After working on an Excel 2003 worksheet for seven hours on my computer (Windows Vista) most recent. A box suddenely appears asking if I wanted to save the spreadsheet I was working on that. Just as I clicked on save the computer automatically stop apparently down to install the updates, it had downloaded earlier (every day at 03:00 I see). My spreadsheet now appears as it did seven hours before. Is there a way to recover my work? Left on file temp perhaps, hidden away somewhere.

I can't believe this kind of programmed computer crash is the parameter defaoult for Windows Vista upgrades, but it seems that to be this way.

For future use, in addition to change the settings for upgrade by default to ask before downloading anything, as I do, is it possible (as it was years ago) to set up a recording every few minutes in Office 2003 automatic? If so, how should I do that.

    Hi ttam24,

    Thanks for posting answers.microsoft.com

If you wish, you can set your updates to install only if you are recommending.

    Here are the steps;

    1. Open Windows Update (click on the Start button, click all programsand then click Windows Update).

    2. Select change settings and choose how you want Windows to install updates.

For Microsoft Office you can post your question on the forum of Microsoft Office.
