How can I enable the Active Desktop on & off?
My old sytem had Windows ME who had an active office. Now I have Vista and I said you can enable active desktop on and outside, but so far I can not even find the active desktop anywhere on my PC even doing a search, you can see my problem by going to this web page... http://science.nasa.gov/realtime/JTrack/FAQ.html... about 1/4 way down the page you will see a button... Add to Active Desktop... when I click on it I get an error message and I am told that it is because my active Desktop is disabled and I need to start the first, but this seems to be much easier said than done! Dell Tech. chat support took control of my PC through Dell Connect and he couldn't understand either after telling me he could! Laughing out loud... Well... He gave the best move! Laughing out loud... I am open to any suggestions! lol good luck!

He was also included in Windows 98 and later Windows versions up toWindows Vista, where the service has been abandoned.

Background is now white screen "Active Desktop Recovery"
original title: white screen "Active Desktop Recovery".
My screen went WHITE with big letters proclaiming "Active desktop recovery." All my icons are still there and work very well. But when I try to click on restore Active Desktop button, nothing happens and there is a white screen with all the instructions, etc. I tried everything, including the 'Display' Panel and tried setting to the top of my new wallpaper, but no luck. I restarted the system several times, and when it loads the white screen is still there. Note: When I go to view, context parameters are NOT operational. The cursor won't move. It will allow me to set the color, but nothing makes a change. Everything works fine, but I can't seem to get rid of white screen and the words "ACTIVE DESKTOP RECOVERY more phrases sub on how to cure it... have nothing to this problem." Thank you, BobnKathyS. For the purpose of the email, I prefer to use the following: * e-mail address is removed from the privacy *.
-right click on the desktop > properties.
-Select the Desktop tab
-Customize Desktop button
-Select the Web tab
-Remove all the other current office links except for the "My homepage" link, so all the other links are listed (checkbox, then the button Delete)
This step is the clincher:
-Turn it off "my checkbox on the current home page.
-Click on apply
-Click OK
Office should return to normal.

Active Desktop Recovery appears all night - does not disappear.
Sometimes my computer switches to Active Desktop recovery, usually at night. It asks if I want to stop the execution of scripts, but no matter if I answer 'Yes' or 'No' - nothing happens. Sometimes I can fix by changing my desktop picture or screensaver, or by running the Search & Destroy from Spybot or Ad-Aware, but a few days later, it happens again! I use Windows XP Home Edition 2002 with SP2 on a PC clone computer. I don't have XP discs.
Todd.E.Pullen,
Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum. I suggest also run you antivirus software. The two you mention are especially designed for malware. If you do not have an antivirus program, then you can download a free here: http://www.microsoft.com/Security_essentials/I would also make sure that your computer is current with updates. Run the Windows update tool.
After doing these items, post back with results. Mike - Engineer Support Microsoft Answers

How to change the size of the active desktop to normal after changing the size of the icons
original title: active desktop size
I changed the size of my icons, and now I can't use the office as a whole.
I can't put icons on the third right and lower third of the screen. What can I do to fix this? Thanks, BeckySHHello
Because you say that what you've done, but not how you did, my suggestions are limited to...
- Cancel any changes that do
- If you remember what was the modified parameters: do a system restore to a point in time before things went wrong. Start - All Programs-Accessories-tools system restore. Choose an appropriate date and time and set the course of restoration. Be patient, it may take several minutes.

Help! Stuck on the activation screen
Hello
My grandmother recently asked me to 'fix' his iPad as he kept prompting you to enter the password of his apple whom she did not know ID. She is 75 years old and bought the iPad two years ago. The iPad uses a recent version of iOS (not sure it exactly, but certainly later than iOs 7).
When I went into the settings I saw that the Apple - ID for the purposes of this post "[email protected]" - has been used. Or my grandmother or I knew the password to this ID from apple. It hurts (and I appreciate this has been my big mistake) thought that the best way to solve this problem was to reset the iPad to its factory settings and then it let me enter a new Apple ID that I have created for her. Of course, it was the wrong thing to do, but I didn't know it at the time.
So I reset the iPad and then, when I started, I was introduced to the activation screen it says something in the sense of "this feature must be enabled using the apple"[email protected]"ID." My grandmother had only an e-mail address in his life, so it must be the identifier apple "[email protected]" that I mentioned above.
Thus, after a long effort, I managed to understand the email to the email account for the @bigpond.com of my grandmother, then joining I was able to change the password of the apple "[email protected]" by using the function "forgot my password" ID on the official website of apple.
Now that I had the password "[email protected]" I went back to the activation of the iPad screen and entered the Apple ID and password... only to be tackled with a pop-up message stating something along the lines of "iPad cannot be enabled with this account".
I don't know what to do now. My grandmother never had an e-mail address in his life, and the iPad tells me that it requires the ID "[email protected]" to activate it. It must be the ID '[email protected]' because she never had a single e-mail address and the clues given (for example, "[email protected]") corresponds to "[email protected]".
I'm completely at a loss what to do from here. My grandmother has no receipt when she bought the iPad and neither can afford to buy him a new one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you, Tom.
If I understand what you're saying correctly, and I think I do, just because you successfully reset the password for Apple ID your grandmother, does not mean that it was the e-mail address that was used to operate the device of origin. Is possible that someone else it enabled for sound using their Apple ID?
