My original laptop crashed (hard), using my fathers laptop and used my upgrade to Vista but it won't let me activate it... can how I get my activation reset if I can use it on my new to me computer?

Hello

1. what happens when you try to activate Windows?

2. do you get any error code or error message?

You will not be able to activate the Windows operating system using the Windows Upgrade DVD. You must have a full version of DVD to perform activation.

I suggest you to consult the following Microsoft article and check if it helps.
