  Nothing happened to your files. The association for PDF files is messed up, or is the icon cache.

  1. Click round Windows logo in the taskbar and choose default programs.
  2. Click "associate any type of file or Protocol with a program.
  3. Select PDF from the list, then click on change program button.
  4. Choose the program that you want to manage PDF files. By clicking on the files PDF in Windows Explorer or the desktop then open them in this application.

  As far as I know, Firefox does not have PDF files somehow. There is a proposal to associate files PDF in Firefox when they are not already associated with an application, but has not been implemented to date (bug 787674).

  These games is managed inside of Internet Explorer? If this isn't the case, then I suggest contacting the manufacturer of your computer for the latest pgrahics drivers. If installation of those who does not resolve the problem, then try to change your resolution to one of the following values (depending on the size of your screen):

  1024 x 768
  1280 x 800 (wide, common form for laptops)
  1280 x 1024
  1680 x 1050 (widescreen)

  To change your resolution:

  1. click on START
  2. click on "Control Panel."
  3. double click on "display".
  4. click on the tab "settings".
  5. change the resolution on your cursor tab and then click on 'Apply' at the bottom right

  Thanks for posting on the Microsoft Answers forum.  We cannot guide you more precisely by changing the BIOS settings that the BIOS settings are specific to your motherboard.  However, most (if not all) parameters of the BIOS have an option to restore the default BIOS (sometimes called "default opitimized").  It may be an option in the menu that you highlight, then press enter or it can be assigned to an F key and States at the bottom of the screen, press F? for the default settings.  I hope this helps.  If you are still not able to reset, check with the manufacturer of PC for more information about the BIOS.   You have an another "Black Screen of Death" problem on Vista 64-bit.  I downloaded and burned the CD to repair, and it loads fine.  However, whenever I go into the options, it is not read my C: drive.  It will not restore the system, it cannot run a "Startup Repair" and if I go in the "Command Prompt" and type "C:", it says that the device is not ready, so I can't change the registry to attempt to repair.  Am I missing something that I need to do first in "Setup"?  Note that without the disc, I go straight to the black screen with cursor.  I can't go in Mode safe, I can't perform sticky keys, and I can't do anything else.

  Most likely, the images are 16-bit/channel.

  Go to Image > Mode and click on 8-bit/channel and see if that solves the problem.
