My Sony A55 died at 50K shutter count.

My Sony A55 produces dark images once, but subsequent shots are fine, but died later during the shooting. Now no power. Any advice? Shutter count is only about 5 +, checked with exif tools. I browse the web and looks like it's shutter problem. Not sure if it's under warranty because it is well below its expected life span. Thanks in advance.

I bought a Sony A55 in August 2011. He has completely stopped working in July 2012. I had used for a short period, and I pushed the button to take a picture and heard only a "click" instead of two. It is under warranty, Sony replaces the load components MB module. Last week, exactly the same thing happened. I took several photos, the battery was above 90%, and I heard the same noise - one click instead of two. Now Sony wants to charge me $250 for repair this problem. I found many other reports of the same problem in client different forums, and I believe that this problem is a defect of manufacturing/design flaw and should be treated as such - is not only the case of a sticky button or a piece of plastic - the camera is completely dead in the water. At this rate, it seems that I have to pay $250 annually to keep this machine running.

How to determine the number of shutter of my canon 50 d?

The official way is to send your camera in to Canon service, and they will tell you.  There is no menu, etc that you can display on your own for this information directly on the camera, or any of the supplied Canon utilties.

However, there are some third parties who have written utilities.

Large Studio has a utility called "Shutter Count" (be careful because "shutter count" is a common name and there are many things that do not actually work.)  You can get on their Web site (the 'App Store' Mac or, if you own a Mac).  It's pretty cheap (under $ 5).   These utilities do not necessarily work to each camera model, but the 50 d is on their list that they have tested and certified as work.

  • How can I find the 5 d 2 shutter count

Can what reliable software I use to fine the shutter on a 2 5 count?

Nothing in the camera or a utility provided by Canon that reveals this.  But there are a handful of utilities that claim to be able to get this info from the camera.  I think I found more functional for Windows - but I have a Mac.

So I found a utility called "Shutter Count" (oddly).  Not free... but it's cheap.  I see that it is currently $2,99 (I think it may have been $1.99 when I bought it).  I does not work with the 5 d II.

  • Sony A55 vs Device Stage via USB, not enough of work

Sony A55 digital camera (or more correctly the SLT-A55V United States w / GPS) has two modes of operation for its USB connection: PTP and mass storage.  This question is about its use in mode PTP with Device Stage.  Compatibility Center lists the A55, sustained.

(Device Stage does NOT recognize the device when the mass storage mode value.)  On the other hand, Sony software only works with the USB to the camera in mass storage mode.  This question is NOT on the use of the camera with Sony software.  In fact, the real point of the question is: how best to use this device with Win7 * without * Sony bundled software.)

Two problems noticed so far, when you use the mode USB PTP of A55 w / Device Stage:

    (1) the "erase after importing" does not work, images remain on the camera independently checked/unchecked (minor annoyance)

    (2) all of the videos on the camera (uses his MP4 format) are not transferred (important deal breaker)

Device Stage has no such problems with several other cameras that we have (mainly Point & Shoot varieties, for the most part, the Canon), where it clears after import and transfers all media so always correctly or video.   The problematic behavior seems to be unique to the A55.

The A55 is the latest version of the firmware (2.0), and behavior of Device Stage is unchanged if Sony beam is installed (i.e. the bundle Sony doesn't seem to install anything that creates OR that corrects the problem)

For example, q: is there something that can be fact/configured for Device Stage (or the A55 himself?) to solve these problems?

    TIA

    Hi davbol.

You will need to contact Sony support for firmware\driver was last updated for the necessary changes.

  • Sony A55 extension tubes

Can someone tell me how to make my Sony A55 to recognize a set of extension tubes please. I get the message ' devil of the lens attachment. If the goal is not supported you can authorize the use of the lens in the custom menu ' extension tubes are 'extension tube set macro A900 DSLR digital cameras', which he says were compatible with the A55. Thank you

I think this is the option of "Liberation without goal.

1 gear, put it on active and which should allow you to take photos with extension tubes, or less, it works for me.

  • Sony Cyber - shot DSC - H2 shutter button

The shutter button was broken and fell out. How can I replace it? Thank you.

The DSC - H2 and H5 have a serious design flaw, shutter button positions are about 1/32 of an inch thick and break ALL THE TIME. Don't waste your money buy another one from Sony for $25 + because it will break again.

You want an aluminum pole so that it will NEVER break again! Sony does not sell them, and won't admit that there is a problem with the design of the camera. They will charge you $171 to fix the camera if you want to send to them well! Not a very good deal if you ask me.

The only place to get a position of massive aluminium shutter release button comes from the Darntoothysam.com and the full package of repair is only $70 if you want to send in for repair.

$25 for the same position in plastic that has already erupted, or $25 for a solid aluminium with a lifetime warranty that it will never break again?

  • Shutter on DCS-HX200V count

Could someone please instruct me on how to find the shutter of a camera DCS-HX200V count?

    Thank you

Extremely unlikely that this information is available. In addition, the normal reasons for wanting to know the shutter count (estimated mechanical wear, etc.) do not apply to the HX200 because it doesn't have a mechanical shutter, only an electronic, that the sensor is simply reset to zero at the beginning and the end of a capture.

    Hi Bob

Please don t get me wrong, but described issue has nothing to do with Toshiba directly. I hope that someone here will be able to help, but I think you should contact technical support Microsoft or Sony to check what they say on this subject.

I put t know what external Sony legacy that you use but Sony usually offers additional software for the own products.

Very interesting article on Sony ARW files you can find HERE

  • HVL-F43M connect to SLT-A55V

    How can I connect a new flash HVL-F43M SLT-A55V (Alpha 55) camera?

The Flash has a shoe of Multi Interface and the Sony A55 doesn't.  What alternatives are there if I don't want feature drop? What adapter would be the right pair?

The adapter ADP - WADA can be fixed on the hotshoe accessory of your SLT-A55V self-locking door and you can then attach accessories multi-interface shoe to the camera, like the HVL-F43M. No functionality will be lost with the use of this adapter.

Please note that there may be third-party adapters available, but we have not tested them and we cannot guarantee full functionality.

  • Lightroom has encountered a problem of reading of this photo

Lightroom 4.4, Photoshop CS6, Win7.  I have imported the three pictures of my Sony a55 in LR, converted the RAW files to DNG, each of approximately 17 MB.  I selected all three then choose Edit in > Merge to HDR Pro.  After they merged I changed it to 32 bit and selected OK.  Save the file, then went back to LR.  I saw the PSD but she had this error, "Lightroom has encountered a problem of reading of this photo."  However, if I save the file in TIFF format, then import the file I can change all that I want.

The PSD and TIFF are 166MB.

Why do I get this error with the PSD in LR, but not TIFF?  The colors with the TIFF seem far away, fake, it doesn't seem real.

I recently came across this problem. The solution was pretty easy.  I chose the images of problem, click the Remove button to remove them from the catalog, BUT DO NOT REMOVE THE FROM THE HARD DISK.  Then, of in Lightroom with the right button on the folder and select the folder to synchronize... This brings back the images in Lightroom and then the thumbnails displayed as expected
