My windows XP user name change?

Just go on windows,

Now, for some unknown reason, he wants to ask me a username and password. I know how to change my password, but I don't know how to reset my username. I have not used the username for so long I forgot.

Hi VanScott7,

Usually your home screen will tell you the names of users, if you get a welcome screen, press CTRL ALT DEL, try twice on the Welcome screen, it will give you the classic line. Try to login as admin without password and see if you are able to connect.

If you are already on classic screen, type the user name as administrator with the password empty and see if it works.

Once loggedin as an administrator, you can navigate to the user and passwords (click on start-> settings-> Control Panel-> users and passwords) to check your real username.

I hope this helps.

  • The Windows 7 user name length

I want to share a folder on a windows 7 Home premium PC with a specific user on a pc windows 8.1 at home. To do this, I'm trying to create the same user name (my outlook account) on the pc windows 7, but the field of name on windows 7 will not take the ID complete, I want to create. Is there a way to get around this. I can share the file okay if I use it all, but I want to be specific.

    From:

    (that applies to Windows 7)

A user name cannot be identical to any other user name or group name on the computer that is being administered. The user name can contain up to 20 uppercase characters or lowercase, with the exception of the following:

    " / \ [ ] : ; | = , + * ? <> @

A user name cannot consist only of periods (.) or spaces.

Given that the '@' character is not allowed, an email address cannot be used as user name.

  • How to rename the user (user name change) in the view 4.5?

I have so-and-so user with username jdoe.

When I change username in jdoe to us AD will tell jdoe123 everything works fine (the user can connect to the office), except that view admin (inventory tab) still shows usernam jdoe instead of jdoe123.
Also if I manually assign the user to a new order desk more > assign here, I can find oly his old username instead of new.

I thought that view gets AD user names, but it seems that some caching or something.  So how to solve this problem, I already looked into ADAM db on view server but I can't find where this former username is stored?

    Best regards.

Go to the tab "Users and groups" in the Admin UI and click on "update user General."

  • Cannot get past windows security user name and password request window to access messages

    Windows Vista - outlook express.

Can not access my e-mail because of the pop-up page without acknowledging my username or password security?

See www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 of many antivirus programs are not compatible with Windows Mail in Vista.  Try may try to remove your antivirus program, and then close Windows Mail and compact and repair the database (see www.oehelp.com/WMUTil/).  Then add your account to mail back again and make sure that the credentials are correct.  If they are not correct, change them via Tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties and not when you get prompted for the password again, as all changes made during this prompt stick not (bug).

    See if that helps.

    Hello

    1. what happens when you enter your user name and password?

    2. you receive messages or error codes?

You can try the next step and check.

Step 1: Try to start in safe mode. Check if you can login as administrator.

Step 2: If you are able to connect then try to change the password. Restart the computer in normal mode to see if you can connect.

    Buna,

You will need to read the list of spaces to live in and use the e-mail inbound and outbound RoadRunner server settings that belong to you and to your living space.

  • Account name My Vista "a name of the user [name] account log does not exist on Windows Home Server" is not, despite the change.

My Windows Home Server (WHS) prefer the same name of user account on all computers that I use - for the connection and easier access to the files. So to my Vista computer, I changed my account [ancien_nom] name [name]. Vista indicates the name of the new account everywhere but the server after a while (!) stopped recognizing my account and complains about "a name of the user [name] account log does not exist on Windows Home Server" suggesting I should change the name of the account on the ESM. Since I have other computers where I can't change the name of the account (work computer), for this purpose I changed the name of the account on my Vista computer.

The reason why the WHS could work properly at the beginning maybe I can connect to the WHS folders in a separate process by using the new account name. Choose to save the password - which might have worked for a while, but no more. I also tried to connect as a network device, but I do not correctly reconnect with the identification information data (and saved).

1 is the name of initial account stored anywhere even if I changed and the reason why it can pop as in this case?

    2. any ideas on how to solve this problem?

    3. or is the problem only on the side WHS - then I might have to turn to a WHS forum

  • How to change the user name in windows 7 Professional?

I recently installed windows 7 Professional and by chance I typed my user name and the computer when it prompted me to type it in. When I had typed the wrong characters in and click on 'Next', he wouldn't let me go back and change it, so I was stuck with an unwanted user/computer name. I managed to change the name of the computer for the word you want, but I didn't always know how to change my username.

I went to user accounts, and there was an option to change the name of the account, so I did.
However, none of my directories has changed its name, and all processes in the Task Manager were still running under the same previous user name, which I did not want it to be.

Is there a way to change the username of an account so it affects all the directories, files, folders, etc. without creating a new account with that name? Or, if possible, copy all the files and preferences of the current account to another account with this name?

    Any help is appreciated.

You cannot change a user account by changing just the name. Simply by changing the name will do a cosmetic change only and does not affect the underlying files/folders in the profile.

    1. from an account with administrator privileges, go to control panel > user accounts and to create the new user account named Standard the way you want to and at least one additional administrator account. Call the last 'CompAdmin' or 'Tech' or similar.
2 log in to the new Standard user account once if the profile of the files/folders are created and then connect to CompAdmin.
    3. now go to control panel > system > advanced > user profile > settings
    4. you will see where you can copy user accounts. Copy the old account to the new from there. Use her browse to select your new account (C:\Users\newaccount).
5 log in to the new account correctly named and make sure all your stuff is here and it works as you want. When you are satisfied, you can log on and CompAdmin and remove the old account from the control panel > user accounts.

If you want to access your account again, it is corrected automatically, follow these steps:

Start Orb > Search box > type: netplwiz [Enter]
Click continue (or provide an administrator password) when you are prompted by UAC

Uncheck "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Select a user account to connect automatically by clicking on the account you want to highlight and press OK. Enter the password for this user account (when it exists) when you are prompted. Leave blank if there is no password (null).

General recommendations for the establishment of user accounts

You absolutely don't want to have only one user account. Like XP, Vista and all the other modern operating systems, Windows 7 is an OS multi-user with integrated system of accounts such as administrator, by default, all users invited. These accounts should be left alone because they are part of the structure of the operating system.

In particular, you do not want account only one user with administrative privileges on Windows 7 because the administrator account integrated (normally only used in emergencies) is disabled by default. If you use as an administrator for your daily work, and this account is corrupt, things will be difficult. It is not impossible to activate the built-in administrator to rescue things, but it will take third-party tools and work outside the operating system.

The user account that is for your daily work must be a Standard user, with the extra administrative user (call it something like 'CompAdmin' or 'Tech' or similar) only it for elevation purposes. After you have created "CompAdmin", connect to it and change your normal user account Standard. Then log on to your regular account.

If you want to go directly to the desktop and ignore the Welcome screen with the icons of the user accounts, you can do this by following the instructions written in the first part of this post.

  • Change of user name in windows 7

How can I change my USER NAME in windows 7? IM using Windows 7 Home Premium in my DELL laptop. I've successfully changed in "Control Panel > user accounts. I also changed in "my computer (right click) > change settings" and changed the name of the computer, the description of full computer name and computer. After this step, right click in 'My Computer' watch my desired username, but using the "information for Windows > operating system" it shows again my old username IE Dell. Another example of username is not changed is the performance of games like EA Hot Pursuit, it shows my user name as DELL. I tried to change "regedit" too. Anyone?

As you said, you tried regedit. Have you tried changing RegisteredOwner and RegisteredOrganization keys in the following key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion
