  I'd do a power reset to see if that will solve the problem.   The backlight on the keyboard is automatic and the sensitivity does not always fire when you would like to.  But, if you are in low light and keyboard backlight does not instantly, place your hand on the keyboard and he rip off and the light.  If the sensor captures a bit of light, albeit indirect, it turns off the backlight.
