  Close Thunderbird

  In windows Explorer, select all and copy.
  just stick on a thumb or other portable media to read/write (not the CD or the DVD)

  I hope the music in your iTunes library and is not in the cloud, you should be able to sync with the iPod nano, which remains compatible with iTunes iOS.

  However, in my last laptop I only used photos - and had files separated inside the photos section.

  I've never used iPhoto and am not eager to try to learn something completely different.

  iPhoto has been replaced by the Photos app, and I suggest you give it a go because it is very easy to use. It would be a good idea because Google retire at Picasa, so you will have to change eventually.

  You can use the screenshot Image of Application, included with OS X, import you the photos to the location you want (Pictures folder). It is also possible, in the Image Capture, so put the connected device (e.g. SD card) don't use Photos (or iPhoto) to import images. It is also possible to put Photos or iPhoto not to import images into the library.

  There is no need to delete the Photos or iPhoto.
