Mystery needs Solution! Drive hard dv6258se

Hello

I recently got an error #1-07 on my test diagnostic message and decided to replace my hardrive.  I checked the specs for my box and ordered a SSD drive suitable to replace the original disc.  Or at least I thought it was the original drive.  The form of State that my box comes with a SATA I drive, but the bios and Device Manager claim that the drive is SCSI.  My box has been recalled twice to correct the defects/factory model, pourrait HP replaced the SATA drive with SCSI drive during this time?  I check the model number two disks to check what they are, but that did not really help since the original Toshiba MK1234GSX both the new 830 SSD from Samsung come in SATA and SCSI.  I checked the Samsung is SATA, but cannot confirm the Toshiba.

I could format and restore the SSD from the restore disks, but restarting failed and the bios did not find the hard drive.  Subsequent attempts to restart grew up a NVIDIA, read error.  When I put the disc Toshiba back in it starts but is still VERY slow.  Click, wait 10 minutes, click, wait...

Everything I read on the State of the boards that the default value of the bios is SATA, but retoring bios factory settings has not solved the problem.

What is going on?  Please help and advise.

Thank you.

PS being new I accidentlally posted in the wrong place: you will find a more detailed description in the Desktop section, where I posted recently submitted: hp dv6258se drive hard toshiba appearing as SCSI but spec says SATA

Yes, him talking about HP guy to me and I even found many other complaints about the disks SATA is read as a SCSI, it was a common occurrence from 06-08 and then had no performance impact that is a possible reason why the SSD is not compatible in theory it should be.

.. .He explained that because player plugs directly into the motherboard and the chipset software is only formatted to read things a specific way that it will NEVER be read a SATA as a SATA, which might be why the dv6000 are not able to recognize any SSD.  I.E. HP dv6000 is capricious and has a few quirks, if SSD does not occur.

So I'm going to buy a traditional HD, a cert HP technician think I should be able to go as high as a 500 GB HD, but I really just to get my box of operation, so I agree with a 120 GB.

Thanks for your help solved mystery.

What you need is 2.5 SATA HDD caddy. You can buy it in any PC or order by eBay store.

A few months ago I bought one on eBay for incredible 5 euros only.

If you can't find, let me know and I'll put the link where you can order one.

I just created my recovery two DVDs for my new computer and I want to know if I still need my 113GB partition on my computer?

    Hmm.
The recovery disk would fix the laptop back to factory settings, this means that the recovery disk would be to format the whole HARD drive and would create the same partitions as the first day of purchase to create also the recovery of HARD drive partition too

So I think you could remove it if you n t want to have this partition on your HARD drive

I had to put a new hard drive in my laptop, after the failure of the original one.
I then reinstalled Vista using the recovery CD of product supplied with the laptop (not the recovery CD I did as it didn't work!)

Vista is now asking me to provide a product key that is incorrect.
I tried the button on the bottom of the laptop, but it does not work.

    I what to do?

    > . I tried the button on the bottom of the laptop, but it does not work

The Windows product key on the underside of your laptop is an OEM license key. This means that t can be used with other versions of Windows.

  • Portege 3500: Need a new HARD drive

    Hello

I bought a Portege 3500 and after a few weeks of use, the hard disk or fan (safe) started to make loud noises and now every time I turn on the laptop screens toshiba rises and it happens eventually to a screen I wrote what he said below.

I read somewhere that this means that my hard drive is over and I have to buy a new hard drive.
Is this true and if so anyone know where I can get a drive hard because the laptop is old?

The only one I've seen that is in stock is of about £230 and it's about the same price, I bought the laptop.
Or is there a solution ive tried going on in all modes but it just restarts and Ive also tried to reinstall the OS using the cd but I can't in the menu option to reinstall XP.

    Hello

AFAIK Portege 3500 was equipped with the 40 GB IDE HDD.
This is why you must use an IDE hard drives (not SATA).

    Now, it would be important to know what max HD size could be compatible;
If the laptop supports 40 GB I think a 60 GB HARD drive might work too.

I think that you should just google for some 40 GB, 60 GB hard drives, that supports the IDE!

    Hello

You can not replace the HARD disk controller.
The HARD disk controller is part of the motherboard and if it works badly then you would to replace the whole motherboard.

But are you sure you bought a good HDD?
Where the HARD drive is not visible; in the BIOS or operating system?

  • I need the driver for my external HARD disk drive

    Hi how are you?

Well, I would like to know I do an external drive using the portable hard drive whose name is "Toshiba MK8034GSX" which is with a capacity of 80 GB.
A few days back I plugged to the USB port with my pc but after that it says need driver and I n t have the HARD disk driver.

So kindly if anyone has the driver or know the link where I can find the driver then tell me I will be very grateful to you all.

    With regard to:

    Martine André

    Hello

    What is a USB HDD?
You n t need any driver, and there is no drivers for an external USB HDD.

The USB driver is part of the Windows OS and it s already installed.
The USB HDD must be fitted with a plug & play device which means that should be recognized automatically after you connect to the laptop USB port.

What OS you have and what laptop is it?
The operating system is up to date?
USB ports are correctly listed in the Device Manager?

  • Do I need an external hard drive if I use iCloud?

Do I need an external hard drive if I use iCloud?  I had used a Western Digital My Book Essential Edition, 500 GB, for the past 7 years.  It kept blinking and blinks so I unplugged probably too old.

Now, I'm wondering if I should get another external hard drive or if iCloud does automatic backups.  I'm not too knowledgeable on these things and would appreciate help.

I use a Mac Pro, OS X Yosemite.

    Thank you!

Yes, you need an external hard drive to back up your Mac.  iCloud or iCloud library reader are not a backup of your data and documents.  Are the copy job. Get a new external drive with enough storage - Lear three times the size of the internal drive of your Mac and then set up Time Machine.

  • I am trying to install Windows 7 on my hard drive, but the installer tells me that I need the driver "Promise Technology Inc. Ultra IDE Controller".

I'm trying to install Windows 7 on a (40.1 GB) partition on my hard drive, but the installer tells me that I need the driver (Promise Technology Inc. original title: installation of Windows 7

    Hey Joe,

I suggest that you visit the gigabyte website for your region (and/or the site global http://www.gigabyte.com/?f=g ) and check your motherboard for compatibility with Windows 7.

The problem you are experiencing would imply that Windows 7 has no native driver support for your disk controller, so if Gigabyte don't have drivers that you are locked unless you buy a discreet disk controller that is compatible Windows 7.

Please mark this as useful or response if applicable.

On the other hand, you have this posted in a forum of Windows XP when it is really a problem of Windows 7.

I need a driver for a Maxtor 3200 external hard drive compatible with windows 7

I just got a chat session with a Seagate tech (formerly Maxtor).  He said that the Maxtor 3200 s/n I made in 2006 don't is NOT supported by Win7 and never will be.  I just bought the year last from Radio Shack for about $80,00.  If anyone has any ideas, I'm open to try.  I read a blog by which this guy has followed this procedure and it worked, said: let HD; Start Win7; Turn on HD; restart the pc (NOT reboot).  Who has not worked for me.

  • Need to order hard drive

I need a hard drive for HP Pavilion dv2620us and perhaps new OS disk

I can't get my recovery disk to work, I test a hard drive and it failed.

I had vista can it be upgraded to 7?

Why is it so difficult to find what you need on this site. I've been going round in circles

here for hours and I'm quite tired.

All I want is a drive hard and perhaps new drive. I wouldn't have to register and ask in a forum

How to find what I need.

    Sorry, frustrated

    Thank you

    Dave

Sorry for your frustration. Frankly, you don't want to buy the CD of HP hard drive... the cost will be much above retail. Any standard laptop 2.5 inch wide SATA hard drive to work. I don't know where you are located, but assuming that it is in the United States, Frys and Best Buy sell them, and you can buy online at newegg.com or tigerdirect.com, among others. If you live elsewhere post back and we can help you find a source. This is a good drive from newegg:

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16822145455

You want a 7200 RPM drive at least, if it isn't a hybrid drive or even an SSD, but the cost increases with each step upward. If 320 gig is too small there are more fat. When you remove the old disk be sure to save the plastic connector piece that goes on the pins SATA to be reused.

You can learn in get a disc of recovery here:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/bph07143

There is a possibility to make a recovery disk, while the computer was working, and apparently you did that. These discs should work with a good hard drive, but if not you can order a factory HP above disc for fairly inexpensively. You are right that the recovery disc will be Vista and that it will be a few outdated software. You would be better with an installation of Windows 7 or even Windows 8. Your computer may operate either.

Post back if you need help most.
