  Have you installed the OS of the window using the Toshiba Recovery disk or have you installed a clean Windows operating system using Microsoft disk?

  You n t need any driver, and there is no drivers for an external USB HDD.

  The USB driver is part of the Windows OS and it s already installed.
  The USB HDD must be fitted with a plug & play device which means that should be recognized automatically after you connect to the laptop USB port.

  You can not replace the HARD disk controller.
  The HARD disk controller is part of the motherboard and if it works badly then you would to replace the whole motherboard.

  But are you sure you bought a good HDD?
  Where the HARD drive is not visible; in the BIOS or operating system?

  Yes, you need an external hard drive to back up your Mac.  iCloud or iCloud library reader are not a backup of your data and documents.  Are the copy job. Get a new external drive with enough storage - Lear three times the size of the internal drive of your Mac and then set up Time Machine.

  I suggest that you visit the gigabyte website for your region (and/or the site global http://www.gigabyte.com/?f=g ) and check your motherboard for compatibility with Windows 7.

  The problem you are experiencing would imply that Windows 7 has no native driver support for your disk controller, so if Gigabyte don't have drivers that you are locked unless you buy a discreet disk controller that is compatible Windows 7.

  On the other hand, you have this posted in a forum of Windows XP when it is really a problem of Windows 7.

  Help, please. I have Toshiba Satellite L350 - 12 c and it s a German model. My hard drive has failed.
  The local repair center Toshiba says they can replace the hard drive, but without the disc they can t restore in working condition.
  Worse, it is its still under warranty but Toshiba refuses to help me. The only place where I can order discs is Europe who won t accept American credit card and mailing address that kills me because I have another laptop of Germany and they sent me the discs without problem.

  The local store even contacted the local representative and it was no help. Help the frustrated customer of Toshiba.

  If you are not in Europe the whole situation can be a bit tricky, but for every problem there is a reasonable solution.

  Looks like your HARD drive is locked using a HARD drive password.
  I put t know why this password is necessary but if you don t know this password, then your HARD drive is no longer available and you will need to buy a new one.

  Eventually it s simply a matter of HARD drive and, therefore, the laptop crashed before this HARD drive password appeared so I think that you need a new HARD drive.

  I use partition magic to create and manage new partitions. In my opinion it of the best tool if you want to work with partitions.
  I have 2 partitions on my unit. C for OS and D for the 3rd of data and files. In this case if I recover my unit only the first C partition will be formatted.
