  Just to add to this great post. The text-to-speech software is not included when you install Adobe Captivate 4. To install the text-to-speech engine, you must be:

  1. install the text-to-speech which is located in the folder Goodies of your Captivate installation CD

• Take a break after the speech synthesis

  Speech synthesis is one of the great features of Adobe Captivate.

  Once a character said his text, Captivate automatically adds a short pause at the end. I think the break takes half a second.

  Is it possible to indicate somewhere that this pause should always be longer, like a second or two seconds?

• Installation of Streets & Trips get message requires the installation of Microsoft speech synthesis devices. Failed to install these features.

  When I try to install Windows Street & Trips 2009 on laptop, I get the message that requires installation of Microsoft speech synthesis devices. When I select OK, I get a message that one of the required components failed to install. The installation program will now stop. How can I install S & T?

  Hi all...

  I'm planning a new type of application for people with a brain disease that needs some kind of speech synthesis.

  For example: I have an input field where a user can enter text with the upper keyboard of Q10 :-) and then the device "speaks" this text afer hitting a button...

  BB10 API/SDK it takes it out of the box or do I need some sort of 3rd party tools etc.etc. for this?

  If the API/SDK support this... What is the best platform for this? Native? WebWorks?

  You are right. Speech API are not currently available in gold 10.2. It integrates with NDK to later versions, but the target is not defined.

• Captivate - create software Simulation - error

  I recently downloaded the 64 bit version of this software and the program to make my first simulation software.

  I received the following error message:

  

  I went to the file, such as requested and I got an access denied when I tried to save it.

  Am using win 10 on a Surface of book and screen resolution is 2000 x 3000.

  Am an administrator on my computer, please advise how to solve this problem.

  Look in the folder Program Files > Adobe > Adobe Captivate directory and you should find a text file called AdobeCaptivate.ini

  In this file, there is a parameter, you must change as indicated by the error message.  This setting allows to Captivate work with the screen high resolution.

  You can see that in order to change the setting, you need to first save a copy of the file on your desktop (or another folder outside of Program Files) and then make the change, save the file, and then copy the file in the Captivate installation directory to overwrite the original file.

  Yes, the function generate audio actually creates an audio file based on these parameters only when the user triggers the audio to generate for the slide, or via the management of intervention, for the project.

• Captivate simulation software integrated into a page

  Hey,.

  I want to incorporate a software simulation in a normal page, so that I can work with buttons on this page. I want to swap from one page to another and do not have to use the videotape of captivate, which is complicated for our purposes.

  You are probably new Captivate? I think you are talking about a simulation of classical software which will lead to static slides (sometimes a blade full recording of moving images), one for each step of the simulation. It's the best way to create/edit a software simulation, at least if you want an interactive tutorial? Or if you want only one video (demo)?  I don't think, because you're talking about buttons.

  Okay, you can create a software simulation on a slide, but it means a lot more work and unnecessary complications. Everything will be in fact using variables, shared/advanced actions and/or JavaScript. I don't think that's going to be less complicated at all. Several years of Captivate 'history' prove that its approach is simplest for each new user. BTW: Captivate has a strip of film, where you see all the slides.  Each slide has its individual, similar to a video scenario.

• Name of the RDBMS software owner not "oracle."

  I noticed that on some of our DB servers, the owner of the RDBMS software is not named oracle. Rather, it is named as "orausr", "ora10g"... etc. Well, everything seems to work very well.

  Look, there is always a chance, an installation (including those of Oracle Corp) script will check that you use the "oracle" account Just run the command id, compare the results with 'oracle' and... boom.
  I have seen those, but do not remember now that one.
  As for benefits 'being creative' and using a different username, I don't see any.
  I see no reason to change the name, or need some "political society".

  How to display a person's name after that that they took their name in a text box.  I can do that easily with Captivate 4 but not a clue with captivate 5

  It's really the same workflow: you have an associated variable is created automatically with each TEB. It was even the same name as the ETB (I prefer to label it yourself using the X symbol next than the default name, but that's up to you).

  

  Insert this variable in a text caption, eventually adapt to the length (as in CP4 default length is 15 characters). You will find the X symbol to insert the variable in the properties panel, accordion of Format (see screenshot).

• How to reset "Published" name in Captivate 5

  Captivate 5 seems to cling to the title of project names, and I can't figure out how to reset the. For example, I have a file named Section_OrderEntry.cptx. When I go into file > publish and the dialog box publish opens, the default is title of the project it gives me: adding User_demo. I think that the name and the extension "_demo" are the result of the file originally created and recorded when my Captivate was in its 30 trial. I have since bought the eLearning Suite.

  Any ideas on where I can reset the default value for the title of the project? I want it to be the same as the name of the file. Thank you!

  I've seen this behavior sometimes as well.  What I usually do to fix is:

  1. Open the project file in Captivate 5.
  2. Save to a new file in a different directory on your PC somewhere.
  3. Open the dialog publish and set the title to what you want.
  4. Publish in the same target directory because the original file has been published on.
  5. Save slot, but this time save the file in the same file name and the directory where you started.
  6. Check the title of the dialog field post now.  This is what you want this time?

  (1) is it possible to have more than one voice on the same blade? For example, a line of text where the voice is Kate and a line of text where the voice is Paul - on the same blade.

  (2) do text-to-speech works only with slide notes or the text-to-speech feature also lets you add text captions, rollover captions, audio etc.?

  There is no direct way to create 2 votes on the same blade. but you can do this by inserting captions transparant and insertion of voice on these legends. Then you can set the time of legend correctly to get the behavior of votes required.

  Slide notes can be used to generate the voice of paul or kate. These are in fact audio files that are placed in the Captivate library. You can use these audio files and insert objects such as captions, highlight boxes etc.
