Name of virtual VM motherboard

Anyone who can tell me a name of virtual VM motherboard?

I don't know, because we still lack vSphere 4.1. But on VMware Workstation 8.0.4 virtual motherboard name is also "440BX Desktop Reference Platform". Thus on vSphere 5, it will probably be the same.

If you have a Microsoft Windows running on vSphere 5, you can get the name of the motherboard by running the following command in the virtual machine:

Get-WMIObject win32_baseboard | Select-Object product

  • How do you exit name of Virtual Machine of ' Get - VM | Get-AdvancedSetting' command?

Hello, I have a question which is hopefully enough simple to answer.

I'm having this problem explained in KB 2078352 and you want a list of VMs affected before hotfixing them, to see if it helped with our problem or not.

    Sample line:

    Get - vm | Get-AdvancedSetting - name tools.deployPkg.fileName

    Name value Type Description

    ----                 -----                ----                 -----------

    tools.deployPkg.f... imc1D01.tmp VM

    tools.deployPkg.f... imc937E.tmp VM

    tools.deployPkg.f... imc32EE.tmp VM

    tools.deployPkg.f... imc6030.tmp VM

This shows only the value of the file names, but not the names of virtual machine. So I was just wondering how I can get an output of name of virtual machine with this information?

    Thanks in advance.

    Try adding a Format-Table may

    Get - VM | Get-AdvancedSetting |
    Select @{N = "VM"; E={$_. @entity.name}}, Name, Value | Format-Table - AutoSize

Looking to change the name and domain membership of our vCenter server v4.0 virtual host\system to harmonize them with the rest of our servers and make it consistent with our security policy.  Are there things I should be aware to allow migration of fluids before, during or after the change of name and the field?  The vCenter server is a unique system that hosts all the necessary services and applications for vCenter, so there is not a second box that he speaks for something out of control two ESX servers for the cluster on which it resides.

Yes... Especially in vSphere where there is no license server is all the function key.  I don't foresee any problems.  But if you use a license server may want to change your license IP source if it is not already.

You can also simply restart the vpx on your ESX host agents if you see weird problems

  • Names of Virtual Machine files changed after SVMotion

To date I've seen point interesting when I was trying to SVMotion. Here it goes

I have a virtual machine called base01 (as it is show VC), but the real name of this virtual machine is ROMBASE02 (the console I see all files including VMX, vmdk etc...). I found this, because I tried to do with unsuccessful SVMotion. later, I tried to make SVMotion with ROMBASE02.vmx and success. After completing of SVMotion I found that all the files of the virtual machine has changed for base01.

How it is possible an idea?

as Jean-Marie said, if you have a vCenter VM that does not match the data store named naming convention, if you move (cold migrate or sVMotion) the virtual machine in another data store, it will change the datstore file to match the name of the object in vCenter.

  • Script to change the name of the file to the virtual machine and its associated files

    Hello

I'm looking for a script to change the name of the virtual machine in virtual center and also change it has associated file names in the data store to match file name of virtual machine. But the vmdk file will contain a descriptor which maps the - flat.vmdk file. So not sure that we can achieve this through a script.

    Thanks in advance!

Not really as much as I know.

The advantage of the svMotion is renamed it the files (.) VMX, VMDK,...) For you.

The only alternative would be the command line. See Duncan Howto: renaming a virtual computer.

With the help of the plink.exe tool which could possibly be scripted.

  • Unknown channel or name of the repeated feature - settings MAX IVI

    Hi all

I have problems with the creation of a pilot application based on IVI. I use Agilent N6700B PowerSupply simply configure and output voltage via GPIB with LV2009 (and Win7). The main issue is with the name of the 'channel' I need to specify in the application. Could someone please confirm ChannelName should I use and if the MAX settings are correct? I have attached all necessary files.

When I run my application I get following "IviDCPwr IVI Converter.vi error error message

The primary error: unknown channel (Hex 0xBFFA0020) or
    name of the feature repeated.

    Complete calling chain:      IVI IviDCPwr
    Error Converter.vi IviDCPwr
    Configure the output Range.vi GPIB.vi"

    Any help is very appreciated

    Kind regards

    PK

    Hi, PKI,

The correct physical name for the channel is '1' and it was filled for you by the driver under the advanced > Instrument Driver Software Module (see MAX1.jpg). You can name your virtual channel name well you want under the pilot Sessions > section virtual names, but the physical name must always be 1 as specified in the driver (MAX2.jpg). In your application, make sure that you use exactly the same name for the virtual channel as recorded in MAX.

  • UCSM VM - FEX create when port-profile name cannot be used. (dot)

    UCSM q with 6120XP 2.01

I can create using port-profile. (dot) for example "VLAN30 - 192.168.1", but it causes a warning message (pictured below)

so I try to change the name of VLAN30-192-168-1 it can work very well

My question is can I use. (point) in my profile of the port name?

PS. I checked the manual of cisco

This name can be between 1 and 31 ASCII alphanumeric. You can not

Use spaces or other special characters as - (dash) _

(underscore character). (period), and: (colon), and you cannot change this name

Once the object has been saved.

    Thank you

We have logged a bug for this CSCtw50228 - thanks to Yasmin!

Our developers have confirmed that while other objects have name validation, virtual computer Port profiles are not, who raises the error you see because NXOS cannot process ".» (periods).  The names of service profiles are another matter that NXOS has no knowledge of these objects.

The solution is to avoid using periods in the VM profile names.  Use a dashboard.

    Kind regards

  • Virtual PC localhost

    Dear Sir/dear Madam!

I have Windows7 and installed XPMode.

Everything is working correctly, but I tried to search with Bing to find an answer to my problem, but many pages not solved this problem.

    Let's see...

I installed the Apache web server with mySQL and they started under Win7. I also started the Virtual PC XPMode.

I want to access the host, localhost127.0.0.1 web files.

In Internet Explorer 6 XPMode, I type http://localhost in the browser but the Windows7 army Apache does not give the Web page of the URL request.

I know that work independently, the XP and Win7 localhost, if there are independent installs Apache...

But I want to access the results of apache Windows7 host with typing http://127.0.0.1 or something other IP or any name in Virtual PC XPMode browsers.

This could be good advice to run the servers Apache and mySQL with a pieces in the host of Windows7.

In this way, the simultaneous trials could be applied through several other older browsers like the previous versions of Firefox or Opera.

    Best regards

    Forward responses...

    Finally it worked.

    1. in Virtual PC XPMode you choose NAT in the networked workplace.

    2. insert this in httpd.conf in the apache/config directory.

    NameVirtualHost *: 88
    Listen 88

    Server name *: 88
    DocumentRoot "C:/Program Files/EasyPHP-5.3.2/www/".

    2. to connect to the Internet and try the connection works in IE6

    3. with Windows7 command prompt type the command 'ipconfig' and look out for the host of the IP address.

    4. in the Internet defined menu IE6 settings the setting checked with the IP looked with 88 Proxy port.

    For example, IP - 192.168.1.136, Port - 88

Finally, in your IE6 you can disconnect. Next time, you can connect the outside NET, because each domain name will be directed to the host localhost.

    Thank you...

  • There the opening Style "File names" & "Names of Version" in LR?

I (finally) move to Aperture and LR plans. My opening workflow was to import the original image file (a file camera RAW or TIFF file scanned) under its original name, make changes (which creates one or more 'versions'). I then rename the version based on a date-sequence numbering system, so that the original (unaltered) maintains its "original name.

This method is possible in LR? Is there a file system and similar versions? It seems pretty basic info, but couldn't find anything in the forum search.

    Thanks, Dave

If the version that you want to rename a file as a second saved from the original TIFF file, you can change its name by editing the file name field in the metadata Panel. If you want to rename by using a file name template, you can choose library > rename Photo (or press F2).

If the version that you want to rename is a virtual copy, you must use the feature to copy name to name this virtual copy (a virtual copy being its own name any file). You will see the name field of the copy in the file name field when the metadata Panel is set to "Default" or "EXIF and IPTC.

If you want to export a virtual copy as a new file version and have this new file using the name of the copy, include the name of the copy token in the filename template that you use for the exported file.

Here is an example that I used recently:

Original raw file. File name: 0001.RAW

Virtual version of this raw file, cropped to 1:1 copy. Copy the name: Instagram

Virtual copy exported JPEG file is automatically named: 0001 - Instagram.JPG

(because I exported using a template configured with chips 'File Name' file name and then '-' then 'copy name')

  • Get-TagAssignment entity includes the names of custom field (Bug?)

Our environment uses several annotations on the VMS CustomAttribute. I noticed that when I use Get-TagAssignment on the virtual machines in our vCenter, the entity object, which should be only an object VM (VirtualMachineImpl), has a name that includes all the majority of the CustomAttribute annotation names. This happens regardless of whether I do anything regarding CustomAttributes or not. I tested on multiple vCenters and multi-instance PowerCLI (all 6.0R3) on different computers with similar behavior. I tried to search and I couldn't find any reference to a bug anywhere.

Also strange that some of the VMS seem to have the name of the computer virtual appears first, then the different names of CustomAttribute. Other virtual machines, seem however to enumerate CustomAttribute appoints first as well as the name of the virtual machine in the end. No apparent reason for the difference.

This looks like a bug, but I want to confirm whether there is something unusual about my environment or if others are able to replicate this.

Steps to reproduce (assuming that the standard modules are loaded):

    > Connect-VIServer [vcenterServer]

    > $vmTags = get - VM | Get-TagAssignment

    > $vmTags

    List entity as ' [CustomField1Name] [CustomField2Name]... [CustomFieldnName] [VMName] »

Interestingly, registration $vmTags.Entity.Name will be back in reality than the names themselves (without names CustomAttribute) virtual machine. So, it's still usable for name matching.

If it's something specific to my environment, someone has any ideas on what could be the cause of this?

Confirmed, this is indeed a bug.

The @entity.name of the TagAssignment object property, has all the custom attribute names and the name of the entity.

  • DNS will work within a private network that includes only a virtual switch?

I have a private network defined in free ESXi 5.5 using only one virtual switch.

Virtual machines on this virtual switch can ssh them using their IP addresses.

I have configured the DNS on one of the virtual machines in this private network, but it will not

    resolve hostnames to IP addresses.

Simple question, DNS can run on a private network that is composed

    only a switch virtual ESXi?

Yes it will work, but you first need to register all the names of virtual machines and the IP address on the DNS server and point the entry of DNS server on the virtual machines to IP address of the DNS server that you deployed.
