  Then I bought my computer used and the previous owner barely used because it mainly used a Mac. The computer works fine, I just noticed that the space bar works only when you hit it directly in the middle or hard. This considerably slows down my typing speed.   I understand that of course your laptop does not work SPACEBAR.

  Can you tell me if the space bar feels loose or "wobbly" on the sides? If you press the space bar in the middle or the hard means that it is not in contact with the button under the key. It is usually a hardware problem, not a software problem.

  You can see how to troubleshoot the keyboard here: keyboard for laptop troubleshooting. You will see near the bottom, they address stuck keys that will give the best Info for the space bar. The metal under the key rod can be bent by preventing the key works correctly.

  The simplest solution to your problem is to replace the keyboard. It is quite easy to do and you can see a complete list of the numbers of replacement parts (605344-001 for the use of the keyboard in the United States) and the detailed instructions in this guide: HP Pavilion dv7 Entertainment PC - Maintenance and Service of Guide. The steps begin on page 65.

  I did a quick search online and found this keyboard for as little as $15,00 on sites like Amazon and eBay.

  If all goes well, simply try the easiest at the top of the following list.

  The following is a general list of things you can try when the question is not in a specific file (you tried/made some of them already). 1 and 2) are easier for temporary strangenesses and 3) and 4) specifically preferences might be corrupt); ((5) is a list in itself and 6) is the last resort.

  (1) close Illy and open again.

  (2) restart the computer (you can do that up to 3 times);

  (3) close Illy and press Ctrl + Alt + Shift / Cmd + Option + shift during startup (easy, but irreversible);

  4) move the folder (follow the link with this name) with closed Illy (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);

  5 look through and try the relevant among the other options (click on the link with that name, item 7) is a list of the usual suspects among other applications which can disturb and confuse Illy, point 15) applies to the maybe CS5, CS6 and CC);

  Even worse, you can:

  (6) uninstall, run the vacuum cleaner tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and then reinstall.

  I had the same problem. Initially, the mouse was mad for 30 seconds, but shortly after, it was worse. I switched the keyboard and now everything is ok.

  Of course, the pointer of the mouse was defective. I'm sure that in your case the problem is the same.

  I've reloaded Windows XP SP2 on my Tecra M2 today but have found the when you type if I press the space bar, the cursor moves on the screen, the cursor does this for between 10 and 30 seconds, it is not a major problem but it is a bit annoying.
  I installed all the drivers and utilities. Any help would be appreciated.

  It's happened suddenly, so I guess that I hit a key or changed something in a menu somewhere I got updates recently, but they don't usually cause something like this.

  From time to time it may work, but I usually hit the space bar a couple of times. OR I just type all that and I go back and insert the spaces manually. It is a pain to have to do that... • x 220 noisy space bar

  Just got my new x 220, overall, it looks like a very solid machine (as a true ThinkPad).

  A matter of concern:

  The space seems louder than the other keys. Almost, it feels a little loose and makes a boring clackety sound when used. The keyboard on my old faithful R51 makes no such noise.

  Is this a problem for someone else? I'm a bit disappointed in the space bar as ThinkPad keyboards are supposed to be the best out there.

  Yes, same here. Click the space bar is set much higher than any of the other keys. But then again, all the keys more (shift, enter, back) a different sound. At the fist, I was not so happy about it, but now the habit of it.

  Try these steps and check the result.
  Step 1: Check your desktop configuration

  c. under the general tab, make sure that double-click to open an item (single-click to select) is selected.
  d. click on apply to save your changes to settings.
  e. click ok and close the computer window.
  f. check if the problem persists.

  a. Click Start, point to settings and then click Control Panel.
  b. double-click mouse.
  c. on the tab buttons, click default settings. If the problem is only with a specific program, click on the settings button, and choose this program and then click default settings.
  Note: If the default settings is not available, all your work button is already defined for the default mode.
  d. click OK and check the result.
