  Go to Microsoft's download page and select the download appropriate for your operating system, then save it on your PC.  Then, run the update from your PC and see if it will install manually.  If you still have the error and then perform a clean boot and test again.  Let us know the results.

  I tried installing 32 updates I noticed on my computer, but somehow it installed only 11 of them.  The other 20 has not been installed due to error 646 which presented themselves. I tried to install again by pushing Try Again, and it does not work after two trials.

  I am trying to install a printer HP deskjet F4180 to a new computer. Computer Dell inspiron 1764, OS 64 bit, core i3, 4 GB Ram, 500 GB hard drive. Rebooted... have gone through the process with the same result.  It became a whole event of the day... the wireless USB adapter has failed, the printer has failed, the update of the window has no... nothing works in win7? How can I get all the bugs out of my system win7. I downloaded the HP patches for win7 64 bit os, and I can't always help work on this new computer. Can someone help me?

  It seems to be a problem with Windows Installer. Try the steps suggested below and check if that helps.

  Method 1:

  You may need to unregister and re-register Windows Installer. To do this, follow the steps below.

  1. click on the ORB 'Start '.

  2. Type "cmd" in the box start search

  3. right click on "cmd" program and choose "Run as Administrator"

  4. in the command prompt window type:
  msiexec /Unregister and press "Enter."

  5. then type:
  /register msiexec and press "ENTER."

  6. then type "exit" and press "enter."

  Now try to install the update and check if that helps.

  Method 2:

  You can check what updates failed to install, uninstall them completely and try to reinstall one at a time.
