Need advice on buying a Qosmio G20-126

Hello world
I was just out of a shop of local electronics in a mall when I found a Toshiba Qosmio G20-126 for sale for $1361,47. And those are the specs for the laptop:

Processor: Intel Pentium Centrino M770 / 2.13 GHz data Bus speed: 533 MHz, 2 MB Cache memory
RAM: 2 x 512 MB DDR II SDRAM - 533 MHz
Storage: 2 X drive: 100 GB Serial ATA-150 - 5400 RPM
CD-ROM: DVD ± RW (+ R double layer) / DVD-RAM
Type of card reader: 5 in 1 card reader, Blue Tooth, IR, remote control
Display screen: 17 "to matrix active TFT, maximum resolution: 1440 x 900 (WXGA +), support for color: 24-bit (16.7 million colors), TruBrite
Video card: 128 MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 6600 - PCI Express x 16

I have a laptop LG - P1 and Ca? s Specifications:

Processor: Intel Core Duo L2400 1.83 GHz (Dual-Core), Memory Cache 2 MB
RAM: 512 MB DDR II SDRAM - 667 MHz - PC2-5300
Stroge: 80 GB - 4200 RPM
CD-ROM: Double layer DVD-Writer
Screen: 15.4 "active matrix TFT 1280 x 800 (WXGA)
Card reader 5 in 1, Bluesoul, a fingerprint reader, 5.1 CH sound, its SRS.
Video card: ATI Mobility Radeon X 1400 (256 MB) graphic card

Now, the sella? s man said that all parts of the G20 are dedicated and exactly similar to the parts office. Which means, I can upgrade the laptop normally as if I am upgrading a desktop computer (processor, sound, video card, Ram card). Is this true? And if so, can I replace my CD-ROM with a H-DVD it well? Finally buy the G20 or stick with my P1 do you recommend and why?

Please help, I'm waiting for your replays.

Kind regards

Hey Buddy,

You cannot upgrade the machine as a desktop computer. It s clearly not a desktop computer, it s a laptop.

You can upgrade your RAM and POSSIBLY (but it s not taken in charge by the manufacturer and you will lose your warranty) internal DVD drive.

That's all.

Greetings to you guys

  • Need advice on creating DVDs - Qosmio G20

    Hi all forum members

In recent weeks, I am a happy owner of Qosmio G20. The camera is awesome and I have a lot of fun with it. Now I have the ability to create DVD movies because I Dona ¢ A? Â? t want to plug my cam on television every time if I want to watch the material recorded from my last vacation.

I can connect my cam on the case without problems and can be recognized correctly. The video material is copied on the HARD drive, but when the DVD is created the image quality is very bad (LCD TV). I tried with a few different applications (WinDVD creator, Adobe premiere and Nero Vision Express), but always with the same result.

I'll be very grateful if any of you have experience with the creations of DVD and try to explain to me what can do to make it better.

    Thank you

    Hello

    Could have different reasons:

    -Kompression
try to set the MPEG compression at a higher quality (means: larger file size-> better.)

    -Cables used:

Try to use RGB (SCART, YUV) or cable (aka Hosiden) SVHS instead of Chinch-video (aka FBAS).
Also try to use good quality cables (not only those in the category - 5) here.

    -Monitor the device (used TV)
Try to see the videos on a common TUBE TV (CRT) (not LCD or Plasma, not even on the tube cathode-pc screens)
On the LCD or PLASMA TV screen you will be self a greater amount of compression artifacts.

Please tell me if this solves the problem.

  • What is the maximum RAM on Qosmio G20 - 126

Hi I looked on the Crucial web site for an upgrade of memory, they report that RAM maximum supported is 2gig (2x1gig) and I was wondering if anyone has tried using 4gig (2x2gig).

    Hello

According to the specification of your Qosmio G20-126 notebook can handle only with max 2 GB of Ram. With other words: you can use the module of 2 x 1 GB only. I found the info your device comes with 2 x 515 MB. If you want to buy the 1 GB RAM module are compatible one with the PA3411U-1M1G part number.

  • Qosmio G20-126: remote control and keyboard shortcuts media do not work

    Hello all,.

I think have deleted by mistake all my HKLM startup. I managed to restore the necessary executables to start manually but it seems to me miss a very important piece of the puzzle. More precisely the file executable (or Department) responsible for the Qosmio multimedia shortcut keys and remote.

If anyone knows which executable (or service) is responsible for the press shortcuts keyboard/remote control I would appreciate their help to remedy this situation. Also if anyone has the startup configuration by default (see msconfig) to a Toshiba Qosmio G20-126 that would be also a great help for me. Just in case I missed something else.

    Laters,

One question; Why you n t use the tool system restore to restore the OS to the point where you have changed the registry entries?

It is a simpler method to restore the settings!

If could also try to reinstall first the common Modules, then the controls.
This application which you can download from the Toshiba driver page!

  • 802. 11a for Qosmio G20-126 wireless?

I have read the product manual and the laptop seems to have at least documentation in favour after having been cleared for use on 802. 11A.

My question is, is he a 5 GHz antenna, installed in the laptop and is it possible to change the map of Intel Pro Wireless 2200bg for the most recent map of 2195ABG Intel Pro Wireless instead?

I really need since the community I live 30 wireless networks in a short range and all channels are blocked by routers at low prices which tend to cause collisions on the 2.4 Ghz band. I wouldn't want a book this wonderful and did not what I feel is almost standard feature in expensive laptops today.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

Well, I found the information that this device supports WiFi standard 802. 11 b/g.
Moreover, I found the information in the user manual which has the characteristics of radio wireless LAN cards can vary in function:
-/region of the country where the product was purchased
    -product type

Wireless LAN networking products have been designed to operate in the unlicensed 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, local radio regulations strip can impose a number of limitations to the use of wireless communication equipment.

In my opinion, you should try this card if it works. If this isn't the case, you can return this card to your local dealer.

In addition, please consult the manual of the user-> Appendix C

  • Need the drivers NVidia for Qosmio G20 because of problem of Second Life

Nobody knows when the latest drivers will be ready or if they are already to the G20.

I am up and works well with those who is downloaded from Windows Update, yet I can't get Second life, work on my G20 and there seems to be a video driver issue.

I can't use the NVidia Web site as she advises to go on the Toshiba site, but the only Vista drivers available are for the G30. These will work?

If anyone has Second life working on their G20, please let me know how. It becomes frustrating now.

  • Qosmio G20 Vista drivers? No need to install Windows Vista

    Hello
I'm new to this forum. My name is Francisco and I live in the Brazil. I have a Toshiba Qosmio g20_105 and it is running Windows Vista Ultimate EN RTM 6000 without problems.
To do this, you must perform a clean installation of Windows Vista. The drivers for network (Intel PRO100), audio (Soundmax), TV (Toshiba PCI Tuner), modem (modem of toshiba), Alps pointing device are installed directly from microsoft. You must install the Toshiba, Toshiba Bluetooth nvidia display driver (monitor and stack), driver Toshiba flash media, toshiba RAID texas (drivers and utilities), toshiba remote control manager and ConfigFree for Windows Vista.
You must have the Toshiba RAID drivers to install from the windows Vista DVD. Otherway, Windows does not recognize Toshiba RAID 0 and RAID 1.

Below some pictures of my desktop of the G20 screen:

And here is an example of the use of backgrounds animated with Windows Vista, deskscapes called dreamscene.
    It is in pause mode

To perform a new installation of windows Vista:

Please, download drivers Toshiba RAID here:
    http://www.rabayjr.com/Vista/drivers/RAID.rar

1 copy the contents of this archive on a floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive.
    2. Insert your Microsoft Windows Vista Edition Bootable DVD.
    3. turn on your computer and press F12 to display the start menu.
    4. Select the option to boot from the CD/DVD drive.
    5. on the first Setup screen, choose your language options, and then press "next".
    6. press on "install now".
7 type your product key and then press "next".
    8. accept the license terms by checking the box, then press "next".
    9. when he asked "which type of installation that you want", press "Custom (advanced)".
    10. when it is asked "Where do you want to install Windows?", make sure that your media containing the Toshiba RAID drivers is connected to the computer, and then click on "Load driver".
    11. navigate to the location you copied the RAID drivers then press 'OK '.
    12. the installation program will return to the previous screen, but it will show that you have selected the TOSHIBA RAID driver.
13 make sure that the TOSHIBA RAID driver is selected, and then press "next".
    14. continue the installation of Windows Vista as usual.

Now, you will need drivers Toshiba for your Qosmio G20:
See the information of Device Manager:
    http://www.rabayjr.com/Vista/qosmiodrivers1.jpg

    Drivers:
    1. SD memory controller

    2 battery and Bluetooth monitor

    And finally the Toshiba Utilities:
    Toshiba Configfree
    Toshiba Assist
    RAID utilities
    Remote Control Manager
    Toshiba SD Memory utilities

    That's all...

So, I say to you that Toshiba Qosmio G20 is Windows Vista Ultimate capable, indeed.

  • The series Qosmio G20 does support PC2-5300?

    Hello all,.

For some time now, I've thought about the possibility of an upgrade of RAM for my Qosmio G20 - 126 and all looking for a more economical way than that which is available via the Toshiba site (~ £100 for a 1 GB RAM Module!) I met articles suggesting that the Qosmio G20-126 is compatible with RAM PC2-5300 (333 MHz). To my knowledge the Qosmio G20-126 comes with 2x512MB PC2-4200 (266 MHz) modules installed, in addition to the direct available from Toshiba RAM upgrades are also PC2-4200. So my question for you, former scholars of the Toshiba support forum is simple; my laptop is REALLY compatible with PC2-5300? and if so there will be problems worthy of consideration (i.e. insufficient power supply etc...)?

Also, I wonder if there are intrinsic advantages regarding the marked Toshiba RAM upgrades available via the site of Toshiba UK. I found the modules of RAM of the similar (at least as far as I can see) specifications for a third of the price. It would be also interesting to note that the model of module of RAM available here on Toshibas website is (according to Google products alias Froogle) same price when buying from third party suppliers (so it's not simply a question of margins exorbitant of Toshiba, unless of course the sellers are also defined on by the aforementioned increases.)

    Sincere greetings,
    Lee Hyde.
    ([email protected])

    Hello

    The Qosmio G20-126 supports a FSB 533 and, therefore, the PC2-4200 DDR2 266 MHz modules are! (DDR2 266 Mhz-> 533 MHz)
It is absurd to use the RAM PC2-5300 DDR2 333 MHz due to the FSB. You won't see improvements in speed or performance.

I wonder why you are surprised that Toshiba recommends the use of own products (memory sticks). I think that each manufacture recommend clean products!
In addition, it is important to mention that brand memory modules are much faster and the performance is much better than the performance and quality of the nameless memory module.

Of course, you can use all modules that supports hardware specifications, but the don t wonder about laptop performance and memory problems after the use of modules without a name!

I use the modules of Kingston and I also recommend using these modules, because quality is really nice
