  I have a Satellite C650 with a hard disk failure. I can't see the hard drive in the BIOS or using an external case and display Windows. Put a new hard drive isn't a problem, but I need an OEM Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit disk to restore the system.

  How do I get one?
  I tried a standard installation of Windows 7 Home Premium disc, but it does not accept as valid OEM code during online activation.

  I assume that you have used the product key on the lower side of your computer laptop, right?
  Well, this key doesn t work with disks of standard Microsoft because it affects s an OEM that belongs to preinstalled Windows 7 in Toshiba and t can be used.

  If you use a normal Microsoft disk, you must use the product key you received with the disc!

  I bought my laptop in Indonesia and moved to the Netherlands because my mother wants to follow me here. I brought the laptop, but I just realized that I do not have the recovery CD. The laptop had broken 3 months ago and I had to reinstall Windows.

  Just for curiosity, it is possible to get the recovery CD without having to return to my homeland?

  Yes, why would it not possible. The best solution is to contact an ASP (Authorized Service Partner) and ask them for the recovery media. I think it would be the only way to get the recovery you need.

  HM, can you just explain if you already had a recovery CD? If not shipped with your computer then you can create one with the Toshiba Recovery creator which is located in the Startmenu under 'Toshiba '.

  If you have a recovery disk and lost then you must either contact an authorized partner and buy a new or use an original windows CD, install on your computer and download the drivers from the Drivers Toshiba download page.

  Satellite M30 is old enough laptop model, and I can imagine that this authorized partner can not order the original CD more.

  It will be much better off buying the CD of Microsoft WXP facilities (on eBay it ain't cheap) and you can install WXP yourself. All the necessary drivers, tools and utilities that you can find on Toshiba supports the page.

  For me, it's the best solution for you.

  Since then, it has started to become slow and not work as well, so I restarted the hard drive using the reboot disk that comes with my laptop.
