Need help reinstalling Windows 7

I posted here a while, but nothing has worked. I pretty much gave up for a while, but would really like to fix my laptop so I'll try again.

My laptop running windows 7 has been a virus earlier this year. After trying to fix several different ways, I ended up doing the reformat disk I found somewhere in the control panel of the computer. It worked fine, but now before my computer starts, it wants me to put a Windows 7 installation disc, restart and then finally choose "repair my computer". I don't know if I should get the copy of $200 or more Windows 7 Home and I hope to find here how to avoid this. Someone me related to the file an.iso on my old post, but I could never download, even using a download manager.

Basically, I'm here to see A) if I am right in what I think I need (Windows 7 Home) and B) if there is another way to get it without shelling out the $200 because that's what my computer ran originally.

If you have your product key, you can request a replacement for a low cost CD-ROM:

However, I had 2 things that were not installed. I use both of them. Can somone please show me where I can download it would be a great help.

    Hi amanda2roy,

    Please use the forum for Support of Vista,

    Windows Media Center and DVD Maker is part of the Vista installation.  You can click Start, type in the area of research, programs and features.
    Open it and click on turn Windows features on / off on the left side.  In the list, under multimedia features, check the box for Windows Media Center and DVD Maker.

    You may need the installation of Vista CD/DVD to install the features.

    Hope this helps,

    Need help with windows defender. all my files folders pictures everythiing disappeared and I find myself with this black screen and it is not all good: o)

    I don't know why vista windows no longer charge, or when the files and folders disappeared

    How Windows Defender is on this problem?

    Follow these steps to try to solve your problems of boot.

    Restore point:

    Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

    Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

    Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:
    Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
    Link above shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.
    NeoSmart containing the content of the Windows Vista DVD 'Recovery Centre', as we refer to him. It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.
    Read all the info on the website on how to create and use:
    ISO Burner:http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html
    It's a very good Vista startup repair disk.
    You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.
    It is NOT a disc of resettlement.
    And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.
    Data recovery:
    1. slave of your hard drive in another computer and read/save your data out there.
    2. put your Hard drive in a USB hard drive case, plug it into another computer and read/save from there.
    3 Alternatively, use Knoppix Live CD to recover data:
    http://www.Knopper.NET/Knoppix/index-en.html
    Download/save the file Knoppix Live CD ISO above.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm

    Download the Vista software from the link above.

    After installing above ISO burning software, right click on the Knoppix ISO file > copy the Image to a CD.

    Knoppix is not installed on your PC; use only the resources of your PC, RAM, graphics etc.

    Change the boot order in YOUR computer/laptop to the CD/DVD Drive 1st in the boot order.

    Plug a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read the hard drive.

    When the desktop loads, you will see at least two drive hard icons on the desktop (one for your hard drive) and one for the USB key.

    Click on the icons of hard drive to open and to understand which drive is which.

    Click the icon for the USB drive and click on "Actions > Change the read/write mode" so you can write to disk (it is read-only by default for security reasons).

    Now to find the files you want to back up, just drag and drop them on the USB. When you're done, shut down the system and remove the USB key.

    See you soon.

  • I need to reinstall Windows Vista to do a reinstall of Windows 7 upgrade?

    I have an Alienware Area 51 750i. He is initially provided with windows Vista but had a free upgrade to windows 7. My hard drive has acted lately and I think to replace. I have to buy a new drive for windows 7 or I can use my old copy and install it on the new hard drive. The computer came with a Windows Vista recovery disk and also the disk to upgrade to windows 7. Thank you

    You can reuse your Windows 7 license on the new hard drive. You need to reinstall Windows Vista on the new hard drive, and then perform a custom installation of Windows 7 during installation of Windows Vista. You may need to reactivate by phone:

    How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)

    1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

    (2) press the ENTER"" key.

    (3) select your "country" in the list.

    (4) choose the option "activate phone".

    (5) stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

    (6) explain your problem clearly to the support person.

  • restarted to how I bought at the store (windows 8), do I need to reinstall windows 8.1?

    I bought this computer a year ago, not just a gateway with windows 8. I rebooted the computer to the way it was purchased in the store. now he says that it cannot install the updates, it tries but said then failed, defeating the update. so since its done and I rebooted it, do I need to reinstall windows 8.1? Why would he do that? any help is appreciated, thanks

    Hello NikkiMorris,

    That your PC is almost a year old and you say it came with Windows pre-installed, 8 so, with you restoring back to factory conditions, you must reinstall the Windows 8.1 update.

    While Windows 8, without the 8.1 update, updates some files, it will not full updates. To do that you need to completely upgrade Windows 8.1 I believe that Microsoft made sure that Windows 8 would update not fully to make sure that everything the world updated to 8.1 of Windows Update. Without the 8.1 update you can not access the full set of Windows Update to date.

  • Brand new laptop does not come with disks of windows, I need to reinstall windows what/where/how do I?

    I bought 2 new laptops. Both come with Windows already... so, if I need to reinstall windows... How/where/can do?

    Hello

    For future reference, these are VISTA forums you want on the new laptops in.

    I suggest other questions about these laptops you ask in the correct Forums.

    Here are the General options of relocation for you:

    You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

    They should do this for a small fee.

    And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista on how you purchased your computer.

    The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

    Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

    Ask them to the proper key sequence.

    And if you do not score a manufacturer of recovery on your hard drive, you should be able to make your own recovery from her disks to reinstall the operating system.

    Go to programs > name of the manufacturer of your computer > then their system or recovery tools software topics for them, depending on how it is formulated.

    If you can't find any reference to it, contact the manufacturer for advice on how to make these recovery disks.

    See you soon.

    1. call the manufacturer of your computer, ask a set of recovery disks. The entire cost is low and the money is well spent.
    The game allows you to restore your computer. Ask a manul on how to use the recovery discs.

    2. While the site of the computer manufacturer, ask to speak to a technician. Ask the person to teach you how to access your computer, Partition Recovery and utilization of the partition to restore your computer to factory State.

    I need 2 reinstall windows vista, but have had is no longer my installation cd, cani always reinstall?

    How to get Vista recovery Media or the Vista recovery Partition on your computer back to factory settings.

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
    See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
    Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
    Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Ask them if you can also make recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

    They will tell you how to do this.

    Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.
    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
