Need help to change the setting of the function key in Windows 8, help?
Hey, I bought a HP laptop yesterday (which I am very satisfied) and decided to play Guild Wars 2 and all of my favorite PC games. In the game, I discovered that all of the F buttons work without pressing FN, which is annoying. So although I am tyring to combat various things I'll always turn down the brightness and turn off the wireless so if I could know how to swap it around, so when I press FN I can turn down brightness etc that would mean I could now use the F buttons normally any help would be nice thank YOU!
Hello
You should be able to change this setting in your Bios menu - see the document at the following link.

XPS 13 9343 change the function keys
I would like to change/disable the function keys on my XPS 13. All searches on Google I've seen indicate that you can do this via a setting in the BIOS, but the BIOS EFI in my laptop has no entry to change the function keys. Is there another way?
OK, finally figured this out... post here so I hope that it helps someone else.
All my research on this indicated that I had to change a setting in BIOS under the section 'System Configuration '. Obviously this option asked, at least on the A07 BIOS on my XPS 13 9343. The option that you need to change is now 'Behaviour of PUBLICATION'. Select "Options of the FN lock" and make sure that "FN lock is verified (it should be... is the default) then be sure to Lock Mode Enable/secondary is selected.» It is he who turns off the "multimedia" keys Enjoy. :)

Original title: security risks by allowing a program to change the registry keys in Windows 7, without knowing what are the changes?
What are the security risks by allowing a program to change the registry keys in Windows 7, without knowing what are the changes?
Hello
If you had made any changes in the registry without taking the backup copy of the registry, then there could be chances that your computer can find themselves in no situation to start and finally end up in the reinstallation of the operating system; This is why it is recommended to take a backup changed in the register of representation.
Before editing a registry key or subkey, we recommend that you export, or make a backup copy of the key or the subkey. You can save the backup copy to a location that you specify, for example, a folder on your hard drive or a removable storage device. If you make changes that you want to cancel, you can import the backup copy.
. Are what program you referring?
Warning: Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Change the product key for Windows 7 Code
I bought a package of Windows 7 from a supplier without realizing it was a distribution of subscription "not for sale". It is now installed on my computer after a painful migration from a dying hard drive which had Windows Vista installed. The old drive is now corrupt and not repairable.
When I tried to record the installation, I found that he was blocked. I have to make sure that it is for the reason above somehow. How to check this?
It seems I have to buy another Package of Windows 7 but I don't want to do a fresh install since I went to great effort to set up the installation on a new SSD and have all of my applications transferred intact.
Is it possible to just change the product key of the new package to apply to my existing install without having to reinstall everything?
Just for the completion of this thread, I decided to pass my final action to get my computer system operating system up-to-date.
Assuming it was a MSDN product licensed, it was repackaged in a retail store packaging and sold as such.
Needing my computer back to the status of full support, I bought a 64-bit edition (non - OEM) of Windows 10 full retail on USB media. Is it installed just fine on top of the MSDN license of Windows 7 and allowed me to install without erasing the contents of the disc. My applications and drivers are intact. Windows 10 also all updates installed correctly.
This allowed me to remedy the situation without having to re - install everything that would have been very time consuming.
Thank you for your help.

change the product key on windows 7 ultimate 64-bit full
Let's make has a history very very short. Earlier this year, I bought 4 copies of Windows 7 Ultimate full 64-bit for internet and loaded mrechant on 4 machines (3 upgrades from Vista and 1 new installation) without a hitch. The software was perfect for a few months until recently Microsoft me notified that the software was not "authentic". Apparently this software was not allowed to sell in the USA.
In any case, if I buy a new genuine Windows 7 Ultimate Full 64-bit version, can't I just change the product key to solve this problem? I know I need to ultimately get 4 copies.
Thanks in advance!

Thank you
concerning
ShailHello
There is no exchange available for you product key
There is NO right to downgrade to Vista Home Premium or Basic
you will need to BUY XP from somewhere: computer store, eBay, etc.
and read this:
Installation of XP instead of Vista:
Come on first, site of the manufacturer of your computer, check to see if your model computer has XP drivers available for it...
If the XP drivers are not available for your model, forget the idea.
If Yes, download and save to a CD or Flash drive.
Then buy a disc XP and license.
Save all your data because it will be lost during the installation of XP.Then follow the steps below to do a clean install.
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/OperatingSystems/SS/instxpclean1.htm
Once installed, reload ALL your other programs of original media, or download again.
Reload all drivers and utilities for your motherboard.

Changing the functions keys on Satellite Pro S200
I bought a Satellite Pro S200 in Australia. Now that I am back in the United Kingdom for good (or bad!) would it be possible to change the key of ' $' (4/shift) to display the sign for the pound (GBP)?
The separate keys are not available, so you would need to replace the entire keyboard by a Briton. An ASP can order one for you.

I have no idea how the product key has been changed to my OS to an OEM_SLP as I have the genuine key supplied with the system on the COA label.
I bought this system through Best Buy and today I received a notice that it uses a non-genuine version of Windows 7 Home Premium, but when I noticed the wrong product key, I have been unable to return to the good pair through my computer properties in the Activation of Windows.
How can I update the product key without having to uninstall/reinstall?

Computer brand and model? Laptop or desktop and if the office make the keyboard? The Fn key does not have to be pressed to activate the special F - key functions as you have problems with and F1 - F12 should send commands appropriate to the current program without having to press the FN key. Do you see anything on the keyboard in reference to an F to FN lock? If so press to remove the FN key -

I am using Asus X101ch. It is originally for Windows 7, but I installed Windows 8.
After the installation of the new operating system, I discovered that my function keys do not work with the exception of the brightness of the screen.
How can I activate the other function keys? as the volume, wifi and etc. Some information on my PC:
1. my drivers for the keyboard is up to date
2.i also checked my BIOS to find any configuration of system on the keyboard.3. I tried to use the resolution of the problems, but it has not found the said problem.
Hi Jerome,
I appreciate the efforts to try to solve the problem.
The link given below shows the Asus X101ch is compatible only with Windows 7.

I need to change the product key
We work with images here and we have a lot of machines that are identical. We have activated Windows on the original image and did all the updates before creating the image. Now, when we use this same image, it is still saved and activated with the initial machine where the image has been created, but the key to use is different because it is another computer with a new Microsoft Windows XP sticker (certificate). I used the "KeyUpdateTool_enu" downloaded directly from Microsoft and after you enter the new key, it says that it cannot update the key.
I tried the msoobe /a registry proposed on the site of Micrsoft hack and it says that Windows is already registered.
So what I want to do is to just change the product with a new key. The key corresponds to the version of Windows, so this isn't the problem.
Thanks in advance.
Its slow but it works as long as you don't have too many computers:

Could someone help me on this issue.
I need to change the folder where download windows updates, I know there must be a way to do this.
Updates Windows installation location cannot be changed. Windows updates tend to fix and replace the old files of the system, so it would normally replace a file in the System32 folder.
