Need help to install Windows 8.1 on the partition, bootcamp on Macbook Pro 15 "mid-2010 w / no optical drive"

I tried for almost a week in all possible ways to get windows installed on a boot camp partition on my main SSD 1 TB drive as a partition, or on my HARD drive, which is installed in place of the optical drive.  So far, everything I tried to give me some sort of error at some point in the process.  It seems that many of them are case by case, so I thought that I invite you all and see if you can help!

I use a Macbook Pro 15 "mid-2010 that I improved with a 1 TB SSD drive as the startup disk.  My optical drive was not functional, so I moved my old 500 GB HARD drive to the location of the optical Bay.  I am also under the latest version of El Capitan (10.11.6)
Here are my system specs:

Presentation of the material:

Model name: MacBook Pro

Model identifier: MacBookPro6, 2

Processor name: Intel Core i7

Processor speed: 2.8 GHz

Number of processors: 1

Total number of cores: 2

(By heart) L2 Cache: 256 KB

L3 Cache: 4 MB

Memory: 8 GB

Processor speed of interconnection: 4.8 GT/s

Boot ROM version: MBP61.0057.B11

Version of the SCM (System): 1.58f17

What I tried (from what I remember):

I tried to change the Bootcamp info.plist file for my version of the macbook pro to use a USB stick for the installer.  It seems to have installed correctly but once I partition the disk and restart the computer, it gets stuck on a white screen with the Apple logo and I am forced to make a hard stop and then hold down option to boot into OS X, recovery, or the EFI Boot.

If I go through the windows installation to start the EFI system, I get an error of:
"Windows cannot be installed to this disk.  The selected disk is a MBR partition table.  On EFI systems, Windows cannot be installed on GPT disks. »

I also tried to create a partition by using disk utility, and that too made me an error in the installation of windows.

So far, the only way that I'm away from windows to run at all has been using the free trial of VMware Fusion 8... but I intend to use windows for more intensive tasks like audio pro, and merger simply does not offer the performance necessary to run these programs.  I'm hoping to install windows 8.1 on my internal SSD or HARD drive, regardless of the work - as long as OS X and files associated with it are left alone.

If someone could help me please understand this point, I would really appreciate it!

Thank you

If your computer has an optical drive, you must use the optical drive to install Windows using Boot Camp Assistant.

My question is, should I buy a new copy of windows 764 bit home premium.

No, as long as you have a disc of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, you can use the same product key that was used to activate the copy of 32-bit, you had installed.

It is also possible to apply my series of Win7 Ultimate upgrade to an another Windows Installer or it will be related to my original OS install and only the 32-bit version?

If the Express upgrade is planned for the Windows 7 Home Premium to Ultimate upgrade, this computer must also run Home Premium.

I do not have 64-bit Windows 7 Home premium, just a 32-bit version OEM

For 5 years, Microsoft made it fairly easy for users of the Windows 7 operating system to get reinstall media. If you have lost your support disc or installation retail collection; either it has been damaged or defective; You can download a copy of the edition that you have licensed from a membership site called Digital River. More recently, Microsoft ended the availability to reinstall media that you can download as a. File ISO in Digital River, which is a digital reproduction of an optical disc.

It was particularly convenient for people who could not easily get the manufacturer's recovery media, did not want to pay the fees required to get or preferred a clean configuration without the software packaged manufacturers or even a recovery partition does not work. It's easy to use, all you had to do was reinstall and reactivate using the product key located on the certificate of authenticity and download all the drivers on the manufacturers website.

Given that this option is no longer available, what are your options? See the article for more details:

also... How can I save all the files and email on Microsoft outlook? I'm not well experienced with this.

    Hello

the XP installation is very simple. Just put the CD in and to start the installation, the installation wizard will guide you through the entire process. A little advice: when it comes to partition the disk, delete the old partition, create a new and format it in ntfs. Don t worry, the installation wizard will guide you very detailed hollow that deal so it's going to go very easily.

    Regarding your backup:

It's my way of backing up my files:
I have an external USB-drive HARD drive and I put all my files on it, so I can copy them back after that I have put in a new system. To save your outlook, you can visit this site:

I have an old computer with windows XP home, I bought a new CD with Windows XP Professional, which are my first steps, the second stages, ETC. in the restructuring of this computer. I would like a clean install like this machine is pretty old.

    Go to the linked site:

Locate and read the instructions to make a clean Windows XP install.  If this looks OK, try to follow the instructions. If you need more details, a Bing or Google search on 'Clean install Windows XP' without the quotes. Locate a location appropriate to the returned list and try it. If you have any questions or problems, do after return and ask. But if you think I'm going to sit here and type the instructions when they are already available on several Web sites, you are in an advanced state of delirium. . So, try and let us know.

  • Need help with installing windows 7!

So I decided to use the windows 7, 32-bit installation disk my father found in her room to install windows 7 on my pc. But I installed it and only 3.47 GB to 8 GB can be used. Since I use fairly heavy programs my computer isn't able to manage this [(fl studio, zbrush, divers jeux tels que bf3, bf1, etc..)] I have read and found that it is better to go with 64-bit, but I have no disk for 64-bit and am a little tight on money at the moment. Is there anyway to completely reinstall windows from 32 bit to 64 bit, or pass from 32 to 64 without an installation disk?

Thanks for your help, a lot.

Post proposed by the facilitator for the appropriate forum placed

You can't go from 32 bit to 64 bit, it takes a complete reinstallation

If you have only the 32-bit disk is probably an OEM package as they were sold as specifically 32 or 64-bit, retail packaging had two discs.

Follow the link Windows 7 here:

    https://support.Microsoft.com/en-us/help/15088/Windows-create-installation-media

Enter your key when asked and see if you get offered the download 64-bit option.

Keep in mind that, if this is an OEM license, if it was used you may experience activation problems. OEM licenses are valid only for the 1st computer, they are activated, they cannot be transferred to another computer.

  • Cannot install windows after reset of the partition

I've literally been sitting to my macbook for the last 10 hours trying to get my bootcamp at work, however after tons of things difficult and research I found online I'm always at a loss. Initially, I had installed windows 7 a few weeks ago for the second time (after that yosemite deleted my previous one during the upgrade) and everything was fine. Then, I took the decision to uninstall my windows because I really wanted to expand the size of my partition, then backed up all my files and used bootcamp to delete windows and re partitioning my hard drive to a single volume. However after this, and then following the same exact steps as before (running bootcamp and sharing in a larger space) once the restarts my laptop that it comes up with the message "No boot device - insert boot disk and press any key" instead start windows automatically load (as it did before). I've repeated several times in the hope that it would work once however I can't help but feel that there is a problem with my hard drive and when I try to check my hard drive (not the 'Macintosh HD' a top one) sometimes - (I say sometimes because it does not say this error when you try to check) said this :

Audit score card for "APPLE HDD HTS547 * A9E384 Media.

and yet when I performed the same task again 2 minutes later he says:

    Checking volume bitmap.

    Check the volume information.

The volume Macintosh HD appears to be OK.

File system check exit code is 0.

I'm really not good when it comes to such things, so this information can be totally irrelevant, sorry! I had originally check my volumes a recovery when yosemite initially deleted to repartition my hard drive and reinstall windows. I really don't know what to do, any help would be appreciated. I have no knowledge in this subject what so ever but I feel that my hard drive is damaged somewhere (even if yosemite still works perfectly and all my files appear to be intact) or for some reason my boot loaders do not work...

I can provide more information if necessary, but quite frankly, I have no idea what I'm doing.

Thank you for taking the time to read this if you have!

    1. do you use a USB key to install Windows?

2 can you post the output of the following OSX Terminal commands?

    diskutil list

    Cs diskutil list

    sudo TPG - vv - r see the/dev/disk0

    sudo fdisk/dev/disk0

The "sudo" commands will prompt to enter your password, and there do not appear to come back. You can also see caution against improper use 'sudo' and the potential loss of data due to an "abuse" of the order.

  • Need help for installing windows 7.

My first question is, do I know why you guys have stopped providing the dvd of the OS?

My HP laptop comes with windows 7 home basic 64-bit installed.
Then, after a few months, I had a virus attack, but given that you guys did not provide the DVD of Windows 7, I couldn't format my system.
So I used the recovery disks, to restore my laptop to its factory condition. He did erase all data but it has NOT delete the virus which was still present and was perfectly visible on the C drive.
Later that night, I was working on my word document when all of a sudden my system hung, the keboard stopped responding, the Start button was not working and I was in a complete mess. If the recovery disks proved to be pretty useless when it comes to format a system when it is be a virus attack.
So the next day, I had no other choice but to call the tech guy and I told him to format my system, by removing all my partitions, drivers and even the recovery partition, as I didn't have a single trace of virus to stay in any partition of my system.
So it formatted my laptop and instead of basic family win7, it installed win7 ultimate.

After he was gone, I had problems with the drivers.
And since all of my original drivers are already there in my recovery discs, I felt the need to create another backup for these drivers.

This is so a few question-

question 1 - do you think I can use the recovery disk to install all the original drivers on my laptop which is running win7 ultimate.
The drivers will support the final version of win7 or it will support Home Basic version only?

2nd question - when using recovery discs to install the drivers, it will also install 'Home Basic' on the 'ultimate' version currently installed?

Please help me. Im very confused.
If only you guys had provided a DVD win7 when buying laptops or you could have at least provide a download link for home base ISO, then I could have formatted my system myself instead of call the tech guys and spending money on them :(

Using the recovery software partition will remove Windows 7 Ultimate.  If you still have your product key for ultimate, you can use it to upgrade. But if the technology installed Ultimate I can tell you for certain if the key he used to work.

The Recovery Manager does all the work regarding the management of partition, no action is required on your part, except where expressly invited to do so.
