  So I'm quite a pickle here. I need to update my computer Windows 8.1 but the installer of Windows 8.1 (app) do not like it when you have made changes to the registry.

  I'm running an SSD 128 GB as my main boot (c :)) drive

  Microsoft does not recommend changing the registry entries of Program files and the data folder drive C: as it has very high chances of failure. This is why it is not recommended to take this path, unless the changes are cancelled.

  To cancel the changes you have made, you must refer to the guide or the steps you followed to move the location of the program files and revert the changes exactly in the order given earlier.

  If you have made changes recently, you can restore the computer before changes to the registry and check if it helps.

  Important: System Restore will return all your files non-system as documents, email, music, etc., to a previous state. These files of types are completely affected by the restoration of the system.   I'm trying to recover a vmdk file or get data out of it. When I try:

  VMware - vdiskmanager.exe - e YYY.vmx

  Could not open the disc "YYY.vmx": the specified file is not a virtual disk (0xf00003ebf).

  Could not open the disc "YYY.vmx": the specified file is not a virtual disk (0xf00003ebf).

  Drive chain is not consistent: the specified file is not a virtual disk (0xf00003ebf).

  If I try to run it against the vmdk file itself, not the - sXXX.vmdk, I get the same error.
  If I try to mount it, I get:

  VMware - mount.exe k: YYY. VMDK

  Impossible to mount the virtual drive. The disk can be used by a virtual machine, may not be enough volumes or mounted under another drive letter. If not, check that the file is a valid virtual disk file.

  The discs and the VM machine is in suspend mode.

  Can I do to recover the data in the vmdk files?

  What I would try creating a boot of Linux Live OS VM from a Linux Live OS ISO Image with HARD drive pointing to usernamfs - shared_f.vmdk and see if you can see the contents of the disc.  I use Knoppix or Slax to do this but a Linux Live operating system will automatically detect and be able to mount the VHD is fine.  Another way to try to get a look and maybe even pick up a few dates user opens the hard with WinImage as usually, it does not perform the depth verifying that vmware-mount done.

  Hi, I have used a Bold 9870 for a few months now. I've been saving my camera on my computer periodically. Unfortunately, it has been exposed to water the weekend and unresponsive. I transferred my acct (by Sasktel) to the Blackberry curve of my son he no longer uses. (I'm drying my "BOLD" in a bag of rice and I hope that it will work again in the coming days?!).

  My question is did anyone know how I can get all my information backups "BOLD" (contacts, emails, texts, bbm surveys) and get only their transferred on the curve that I currently use. I feel completely lost without it!

  Take the SSD on the MBP and install it in a closed enclosure.  Connect to another Mac a hope that it will be recognized.

• I am recovering data from 720 KB diskettes.

  About 14 years ago I saved about 150 paint files (all illustrations) on 25 Dysan double face, double pre-formatted density 720 KB 3-1/2 "floppy disks.  I am their opening and copy of Windows XP.  Everything works fine, except for two 2 discs.  The program tells me that the disks are not formatted, and I want to format it now?  I said 'no' because I didn't want to erase all data.  It does the same thing at first to a single disc, which later, I was able to copy.  Do anyone knows how I can get back safely the work of these 2 diskettes, or I won't be able to recover this data?  Thanks for any help that anyone can provide.

  I use firefox on a MacBook pro. Mac OS X version 10.7.5. There was an update of firefox on a day or 2 ago. Since this was done, I was getting 'syntax error' 5 times, each time that a page has been loaded. Some research has suggested that an application or a plug-in called "social fixer" might be the problem but I could not understand how to get rid of it so decided to try to reset Firefox. Minutes passed and a message was on the screen saying the old files of firefox have been been "cleaned" or something, but it seems to be 'stuck' because the progress bar was little jerky. Doesn't it usually doesn't. So I clicked on "Cancel". After that, I couldn't even firefox to start. Looks like my profile is unavailable or inaccessible. Following the instructions found on the support site, I created a new profile and I thought I copied the files from the previous firefox on the new profile, but when I run firefox, it's a blank slate. None of my bookmarks or passwords are there. It must be here somewhere, but I can't seem to understand.
