Need info on BIOS upgrade on Satellite Pro 6100

Toshiba said for the upgrade of the traditional Bios use the key"toshisba" to the left of the space bar to the 6100, I tried this nothing happens
The 6100 does not turn on with this key, so the news of Toshiba was inncorrect

And how risky are Bios upgrades running Windows

everyone updated the 6100 to worms 1.9? That's what I want to do
to stop this annoying missing USB

Jack

Hello

No, I don't think that it is more risky to have the upgrade of the Bios from windows then the traditional way.
I found this info in the Toshiba document that describes the procedures to update the BIOS:

For the current offers in the range of Toshiba laptops two different BIOS update procedures.

1 Windows base update: BIOS is updated to Windows.
2. traditional update: BIOS is updated using a floppy disk or a CD-ROM when starting.

We recommend that you update the BIOS from Windows.

  • How to remove the bios password on Satellite Pro 6100

    Hello
I got this Satellite Pro 6100, I would like to install windows xp on it, somehow once I opened it, it's just a black screen with the password.
I removed the hard drive and I was able to access it with my computer, means that the password is not for the hard drive, but rather the bios.
What is the password of the bios? How can I reset it? I removed the Green battery which I think it is the RTC battery, it would make? How long should I wait for the settings to be reset to zero?

    Hello

It seems that the machine has a BIOS password. And it seems that there are only 3 options:

1 Google for the procedure how to remove a BIOS password
    2. ask your son for the password
    3. send your machine to an authorized servicepartner and allow them to remove the password, which means that you pay money for it.

  • Hardware upgrades to Satellite Pro 6100

    I own Satellite Pro 6100 - PS610E-NGYSC-EN.

What is the maximum memory (more), processor and hard drive you can put in one of these laptops. I've included the part number in the title of reference. Also where can I get a new power supply and the battery?

    Hello

The upgrade of equipment is possible, but not all the pieces are extensible; for example, you cannot move the CPU or GPU.

What you can do is an upgrade of the HARD drive and memory.
As far as I know that this series supports PC2100 DDR - RAM (512 MB PA3164U - 1 M 51 part number) modules and you can improve it to max 1024 MB (2 x 512 MB).

The laptop also supports the HARD disk with an IDE interface.
I think a 60 GB HARD drive, or maybe a 80 GB could be compatible.

I also found a compatible battery and mains adapter:
    Battery Lithium - Ion 10, 8V 600mAh 3, part number: PA3191U
    AC adapter - AC 100-240V to AutoFix, 50-60 Hz, 15V 5A 75W reference PA3083U-1ACA

Hope this information can help you

  • Re: RAM and BIOS upgrade on Satellite Pro 4280

OK, so I found my old SP4280 buried in the loft and found everything market (except the hard drive, but I ordered a replacement identical).
I want to install ubuntu on this subject that I don't have windows OS available, but need more RAM and an update of the BIOS.

It will only take old, now N/A toshiba ram will it take other brands of RAM with the correct specifications? (low density, 100 mhz, CL2) And I can't find the update of the BIOS anywhere on the Toshiba site. Someone could you please direct me to it or download it for me? Thank you.

    Quick answers appreciated!

    Thank you

The information you can get from Toshiba on the RAM, it's that your laptop can handle with max 320 MB of RAM.
    Compatible RAM is PA3005U - 1 M 12 > 128 MB.
    This RAM is tested.

Of course, you can use other brands. Just make sure that you are using the high quality product and also the same specification of RAM.

    Update the BIOS, visit http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_bios.jsp
For Satellite Pro 4280 you can find there 2 BIOS, 70-TRAD

  • Need info on the microphone on Satellite Pro A120 Jack

    Hello

I am using Skype with my A120SE and bought a Logitech Internet Chat headset. However, the volumes of micro are acceptable with the sensitivity turned to max and thrust box checked in the audio properties of XP. But the amount of "white noise" is unbearable. The Web from Logitech website suggests that the microphone is a type of capacitor requires a voltage of 3V polarization, and this poor performance can be caused by an inadequate diet. I also noticed that headsets/microphones of some other manufacturers suggest a bias voltage 1.5V.

I can't find any specification tecniques for the Toshiba microphone jack. Can anyone help, or can anyone suggest a reasonable headset which worked with the A120SE?

    Hello

I quite often here and if I remember right you are the first person who wrote about the bad experience with the use of the helmet. Generally avoid any problem. Logitech stuff is good quality material and I wonder really subject described.

I'm really skeptical that someone can give you info on the mic socket. Try contacting a service allowed in your country. Maybe they can help you. I use Sennheiser headphones and I am very satisfied. It's really high quality product and I can recommend it.

  • Satellite Pro 6100 BIOS upgrade question

    Hello

I have a toshiba satellite pro 6100 and currently it has 1.60 bios version and saw that the last update of the bios is the 1.90. My question is: is it question where I get the update of the bios of wheather it is from the site of toshiba UK or the United States, is the same bios update, or are they different? The other question is what I have to do the previous bios updates first 1.60 1.70 1.80 and finally to 1.90, or can I just do the 1.90 and who will have the previous updates in that one later?

    Hi Christian,

I normally prefer to get the update of the BIOS in the same country as I bought the laptop. However, given that the laptop was probably manufactured around the world, I don't think it bothers us really until the update is marked as compatible with your model of laptop. In principle, the update of the BIOS for the components of the laptop and is therefore more linked to the actual model in his country of origin.

It is not normally necessary load the intermediate versions of BIOS as BIOS is usually not cumulative but is provided as a complete package and includes all the code required.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite Pro 6100 - after updating the BIOS, it does not

    Hello

I am trying to upgrade my old of Satellite Pro 6100.

I started to upgrade the Bios via download from Toshiba (using WIN) site - OK downloaded zip files and installed, machine then stops. Problem, it does not restart - it's so now I have a laptop 'death' that is not responding to any key I tried.

    Any suggestions of resuscitation?

Already I've updated from XP to SP2.

    Thank you

    Hello

It sounds like that the BIOS update has failed and your laptop can start t again. But try this workaround:
Remove the AC adapter and the battery and then wait an hour. After that reconnect the adapter AC/DC and battery. Try to start the laptop.

If it doesn t work I think that the motherboard needs to be replaced or you go to an authorized service provider. Technicians can reflash the ROM module
But maybe you can find a motherboard of second hand cheap on eBay

  • Satellite Pro 6100 - how to change the date and time in the BIOS

    Hello

I received a satellite pro 6100 that had not been used for some time. Windows does not work then he reinstalled with the good drive.

When I try and windows 'enable', I get the error 32777 and the laptop is unable to connect with the activation servers that a google leads to believe me that the date and time are incorrect in the bios.

I know that Press esc to access the bios but there is no option to change the date and time in there. I put the date / the correct time in windows, but this does not seem to synchronize with the bios. I've updated to the latest version of the bios, but this is not enough.

How can I change or update the time in the bios?

    Thank you

    Hello

I doubt this time and date setting BIOS does affect Windows activation time Windows doesn t affect it in my opinion. There must be another reason for this problem.
You can activate Windows by phone?

Normally the date and time in the BIOS can change you if you mark the date or time, and then press on + or - to change this. Sometimes you have to press PageDown/to the top according to the model of BIOS or laptop.
Usually in the configuration of the BIOS you will find a brief info how changing the values.

Well, I brought a Satallite Pro off ebay a few days back but I can't find what I need.
I don't have any idea what the laptop except a Satallite Pro 6100 1.7 ghz, 512 MB ram mobile P4 CPU graphics card nividia.

It would be great if I could know what laptop that I use to download the drivers, or at least be done in which I need only one I'd love to be able to change the brightness of the display by using the fn + F5 key and have the screen filling the LCD.

    Thank you.
    Mike.

    Hello

I put t really understand your problem

The European driver from Toshiba site provides all the important and necessary drivers for the Satellite Pro 6100.

I assume you mean on the XP drivers
    Install all.

In a first step, I recommend the installation of the common Module Chip Set Utility, display driver and then continue with the rest

If you have installed SP2 please check the "Microsoft Windows XP SP2 update information" because some tools need to be updated.

  • Satellite Pro 6100 Graphics Card upgrade/replacement

    I have a Satellite Pro 6100 p4 - m 2.0 30 GB and the graphics card is dead. I love this laptop.

He had a NVidia GeForce4 420 Go 16 MB card

I can replace it with a GeForce4 420 Go 32 MB of the same model.

Is there something more powerful on the market that works without any problem for the 6100? That is to say. GeForce4 440 Go 64 MB?

    See you soon

Usually didn t of toshiba offers an update of the separate graphics card but he had different graphics cards installed in your computer, and, THEORETICALLY, you can use each of these cards in your machine. I can't promise it but they should all work in this machine.

The problem is to disassemble the machine completely and if you do something wrong then you know that it is useless to come back because your machine is no longer in warranty. It would be wise to give the machine a technician to exchange the graphics card.

Unfortunately, I can't tell you what graphics cards in your machine or which partnumbers are needed. In this case you´re on your own.

    Good luck

  • Need to drive caddy HARD and coverage for Satellite Pro 6100 HARD drive

Does anyone know the part numbers or to get a hard drive caddy and the Satellite Pro 6100 Series hard drive
    Thank you

What caddy did you? Internal an external 2.5 USB caddy for a HARD drive or the case?
I think that if you need a domestic framework for laptop you should order it since the maintainer authorized Toshiba in your country.
I think that guys should be able to order something like this directly from the Toshiba store

  • Satellite Pro 6100: cannot get into the BIOS and does not start

I have a portable Satellite pro 6100, en I was trying to boot from an external USB hard drive. When I activated the second hard drive option in the BIOS it has stopped booting all in all, I can't even get into the BIOS Setup more. All I get is "In touch with tomorrow TOSHIBA" screen with the icons to select the method of priming preferred manually after it's just blank screen with a cursor blinking in the upper left.

Press ESC or F8 before to turn usually results in fast beeps sounds.
Press tilde (~) before turn is reflected in the remaining space screen (not even the home toshiba screen appears) and slow Zens sounds.

Apart from that I can't really do nothing at all.
I tried to reset the BIOS by disconnecting the battery CMOS/RTC (hoewever, we call it) of the motherboard for a while with no results.

Turn on/off without the results of HD internal in a white screen with an ERROR 'IDE #0.
I can always stop by pressing the power button, you don't have to bother on the external hard drive it past I don't even want it works more.

    Suggestions?

    Hello

I agree with Graeme. Your HARD drive is probably faulty. Sorry, but I don't think that you will be able to use the external HARD drive. The option in the BIOS is not for EXTERNAL HARD drive is just, I guess, for disk HARD placed in select Bay.

    Help, please.
I have an older Toshiba laptop Satellite Pro 6100-PS610E ngysc-en
I was wondering what model it is.
I can't find on internet to get drivers etc.

I'm new here so if I'm wrong place, sorry

    Thank you

    Hello

It is an old Satellite Pro 6100 series.
You can't find drivers on the page of the European driver Toshiba portable computer area because pilots are moved to the archives (laptop is oldie ;)).

So to access the page of European driver of Toshiba and choose Archive in the type of product.
Then, Satellite Pro-> Satellite Pro 61xx-> Satellite Pro 6100

Here you will find the drivers available.

  • LED flashing - need to know the Satellite Pro 6100 POST error codes

When I tried to turn on my Satellite Pro 6100 laptop the Green DC in power light turned orange and started to blink.
It flashes 5 times, then 3 times then repeats.

I guess that this indicates a failure in the system, but where can I find what means this error code?

    Hello

You can read the flashing code very easily short flashing means 0 long average 1.
Then you read the complete code back.

Finally, the error code must be converted into HEXADECIMAL value and then a technician of the laptop could know what means this value.

The ASP in your country should provide details of the mentioned error.
