My product recovery CD does not work, spoke at the customer service, but no help.
How can I get the restore CD? I bought the machine from the United Arab Emirates, UNITED, it s one Satellite M70-122 (PSM70E)

Maybe your recovery CD is ok, but the CD/DVD drive is malfunctioning and therefore cannot read the Toshiba Recovery CD.

Have you tried to boot from another CD bootable like; Live Linux CD or Windows XP original CD?

You should do this to make sure that's exactly wrong

However, if one of the parties mentioned (CD or recovery CD/DVD drive) malfunctions, you must contact the ASP in your country for a replacement or a fix.

    The graphics driver ATI Toshiba for Satellite M70 can be found only here on the European driver Toshiba page.
    Unfortunately, the newer versions are not available. :(

    You know the * www.omegadrivers.net * site? There are a few 3rd party ATI drivers. But note; This driver can be installed only at your own risk, because no one can guarantee that these non-Toshiba drivers would correctly on Toshiba laptops.

    In many cases (also for the M70 Sat) battery RTC is soldered on the motherboard. In this case it cannot be replaced

    The RTC battery provides the power to keep the current date, time and other configuration information in memory, while the computer is turned off. The RTC battery is charged by the adapter or the main battery while the computer is on.
    So theoretically if the RTC battery is empty, you could load it again to connect the AC adapter and execution of the laptop for about 24 hours.

    Do you use a recovery CD or original copy? Satellite A30 is a unit old enough and I wonder since when you noticed this problem?

    Recovery procedure is running in MS-DOS mode. Because of this, there are still listed W98. Thing absolutely unimportant.

    I can't install XP Home with Toshiba Recovery CD for my m70-168.
    I did two years ago, but now it is impossible.

    I followed the instructions of the user manual. Initially, the system displays the loaded modules followed by a recovery utility menu
    There are 3 options 1-Normal 2 - custom installation - 9 altogether. But it is impossible to select one of them.
    CTRL-Alt-Del works only, then windows starts normally. Since the last restoration, memory has been upgrded to 2 GB.

    I have the same problem using my restore CD backup copy.

    Hmm sounds really weird I mean if the copy of the recovery disk is not working too, I doubt that this could be a problem of recovery disk. But nothing is impossible
    Are you sure that your HARD drive is completely OK?

    Have you tried to install Win XP using the Microsoft CD clean Windows XP?
    Maybe you should check to ensure that the problem is not related to floppy disks to install.

    Return to your recovery disk; As far as I know it of not possible to order a new recovery disk because this laptop model is discontinued
    So you will need to use a disc of Microsoft

    I formatted my Satellite M70-122 in order to install Win XP - Pro and so I lost all drivers and programs pre installed. It seems that the recovery CD is of no use in this case, and I was wondering if there was a driver CD, I could order.
    I found the drivers (62 so far) for my machine on the Toshiba site and I was as well, I was wondering if I should download and install all. What about programs like the CD/DVD burner?
    Where can I get them back?

    The Tools & Utilities CD but that contains all the necessary drivers is not delivered with the unit, can be created by the user himself. If the unit is installed with recovery media you can find under Toshiba assist > protect & difficulty > create CD drivers & tools.

    All these drivers, tools & utilities that you can use for your own installation. Otherwise you need to download them from Toshiba download page, and please check the instructions facilities document and install all things in order. Order of the facilities is very important.

    I found some info on the Toshiba site us but nothing about the designed BIOS for laptops European.

    This disc is copyrighted and it s not allowed to copy and distribute copyright ;) disks
    You know.

    If you want you can install the Win operating system from the original disc of MS and then could download drivers from internet!

    This is the first time that I do this. When I restart the computer when all, Win XP and antivirus, I didn't hear no voice, just bleep. There are the same that I was searching my WiFi. Could ' t find.

    May I ask why you n t use the Toshiba Recovery disk? This disc contains an image of the settings from the factory with all the drivers and tools. If use you this disk, your computer is ready to be used again and you don t have any problems with the installation of the driver. :)
