Need to answer with Create Table

Hi guys OTN.

I would ask, what is the difference between this two syntax.

create table table_name as
select * from other_table;
and
create table table_name as
(select * from other_table);
Thank you and more power!

There is no difference. Oracle allows often in brackets when they are not needed. For example:

SELECT  SYSDATE - (1 / 24)    AS one_hour_ago
FROM    dual;

The result would be the same if you have lost the parentheses, but it is nice to make in this case, to clarify that the / operation is being doen before the...

    No, this is not possible. You need to get the manuscript of dependent object and create it manually.

  • Problem with creating tables DB DWH

    Hello
    During the generation of tables of data warehouse (dry 4.10.1 how to create the Data Warehouse Tables), I got to the top with an error indicating that "Datawarehouse Creating tables failed '.
    But when I checked in the log "generate_ctl.log" file, it has the message below:

    When I checked in the database of DWH, I find tables DWH, but do not know if all tables have been created?
    Can someone tell me if my DWH tables are all created? Tables of how much would be created for EBS containers above?
    Also, should I have to drop a container of EBS to create tables DWH successfully?

    The Installation guide States when creating tables DWH fails then "createtables.log" will not be created. But in my case, this log file is created.

    Even if you do the install with DBA role, it will fail is that sse_role is not present. Please, create it and try again. You must also create a user of separate database to the data warehouse that is separate from the repository of DAC. Then you can remove and re-create the account of data warehouse without losing the DAC repository.

    Hello

    Follow these steps:

    (1) go to the topology

    (2) physical architecture

    (3) modify the Oracle (directory) technology

    4) go to the tab "other".

    (5) change the "String Mask" (4º-text box) to: VARCHAR2 (%)

    That will solve the problem.

    Hi Laura,

    It's very strange. I downloaded a new version on the site and it works perfectly. The script is in the right place.

    I can sugggest you right click on the download link and select "save a copy as" the alternative menu. This should save the form locally and from there, you should be able to open it in Acrobat.

    If you are a Mac, make sure that the form opens in preview from Apple.

    Also make sure that Javascript is enabled in Acrobat (in the preferences window).

  • Need some answers with re-construction of my site to the fluid network

    Hi guys, I'm rebuilding my site at fluid network.

    The 5 first mainpages are downloaded on a test site: http://www.Hoddenbagh.nl/bibleopentest/index.html

    Now I begin to rebuild the pages of the study. One is over except that there are a few things that I can't do right. And I used a JavaScript to get the pop up windows, which work well, but I hope that there is a better way to do it.

    OK questions:

    1. How can I add space above the first line under the orange heading? http://www.Hoddenbagh.nl/bibleopentest/armour.html . I tried < br > and < p > < / p >

    2, as said I use Javascript to get the texts of the bible-thet when users click on the reference text, but I like it much better when the text appears in a small window when the Viewer is appropriate on the text, or click top, and then click. Again, I have used it on this page: http://www.hoddenbagh.nl/bibleopentest/armour.html

    3. near the end of the page, I tried to ad an ordered list. The code is in the HTML code, but it does not appear in the browser of the thw. I tried to change the settings for the list, but then the navigation bar is changing as well, and I don't want that.

    I hope I get some answers

  • Creating table in the schema has with the user B and granting permissions to the user C

    Hello, I have a problem fun - we have a large table which requires a batch to make millions of updates, and he needs to finish more quickly. It takes several hours as an update, but a select create table did the same thing in about a minute. Yay! Then we just delete the old table and rename the new table to the former, rebuild all the index and grant select/insert/update/delete permissions to another user who needs access... and there is the problem, Oracle said insufficient privs.

    We have A figure, which is the owner of the table, userid B who done all the stuff of application batch and userid C which performs inserts for a process of middleware. None of them are actual users, of course. We want that user B to do the ETG, rename, rebuild and re-grant of the authorisation of the index. But user B apparently cannot grant permissions on objects in the schema A to user C, even if B has created the table and has the role DBA (not ideal, I know)!

    What's really crazy is that there is no sense unique user b can grant permissions to user C, which is to:

    grant select any table USER c;
    grant insert any table USER c;
    grant update any table USER c;
    Grant delete any table USER c;

    It seems really perverse can create tables in diagram A and even grant C privs "whole table" that user B, but may not grant privs specifically on this object in the schema A, even with DBA privs. I must be missing something... right?

    Yes. By default, the stored procedures are stored procedures from DEFINER rights. If A is the owner of a stored procedure, this stored procedure can do whatever A enjoys the privileges to directly. If A grants B privileges RUN this stored procedure, when B calls the stored procedure, the procedure runs with the privileges.

    I agree point stew, however, re-creating objects in Oracle is generally a bad idea and a TRUNCATE with one insert direct-path, possibly combined with the deactivation and the rebuilding of the index would be more appropriate than a DEC. If you're going to stick with this Assignment, however, that really do in a stored procedure owned by A while B has no need to CREATE ANY TABLE.

  • create table as a table with nested column type

    On my Oracle DB (11.1), I have a table with a nested as a column type (and it is a partitioned table).
    Now I need to copy partitions in a second table, and I use swap partition for it (with a table that is not partitioned as a table in step).

    But there is a problem, because as the ordinary as sql ddl:
    create table table1_stage as select * from table1 where 1=2;
    does not work when there is a table nested within a column type.
    Is it possible easy to copy its structure (and to create the table that is not partitioned, so I suppose that no dbms_metadata package would help)?

  • what need parameter should be ignored for creating table in LMT

    Hi all

    I have locally managed tablespace (LMT) with the type of ventilation SYSTEM and segment_space_management is AUTOMATIC. My database is Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi.

    I have for example:

    create table (ID)
    PCTFREE 5
    INITTRANS 2
    STORAGE (Initial...).

    Oracle documnetation, I found that it is recommended to omit the storage clause when you use LMT.

    I want to know, I do also omit PCTFREE 5, INITTRANS 2 of the create table statement?

    Thanks for any advice.

    Dear spur230,

    Yes, you can omit these parameters either.

    Here's the answer to your question;

    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B19306_01/server.102/b14231/tspaces.htm#sthref1153

    +"+
    * + Creating a locally managed Tablespace + *.

    + Create a locally managed tablespace by specifying IN clause of the CREATE TABLESPACE statement SCOPE MANAGEMENT. This is the default value for new permanent storage space, but you must specify the EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL clause if you want to specify the AUTOALLOCATE or the UNIFORM clause. You can have the database to manage extensions for you automatically with the clause AUTOALLOCATE (default), or you can specify that the tablespace is managed with uniform extents of a specific size (UNIFORM). +

    + If you plan the tablespace contains objects of various sizes, requiring many scopes with different sizes, then AUTOALLOCATE is the best choice. AUTOALLOCATE is also a good choice if it is not important for you to have a lot of control over the allocation of space and the deallocation, because it simplifies the management of the table space. A space may be wasted with this parameter, but the advantage of having the Oracle database manage your space probably outweigh this disadvantage. +

    + If you want exact control on unused space, and you can predict exactly the space to allocate for an object or objects and the number and size of extensions, and then UNIFORM is a good choice. This setting ensures that you will never have the unusable space in your tablespace. +

    * + When you do not explicitly specify the type of management, database Oracle determines management extended as follows: + *.

    + * _If the CREATE TABLESPACE statement omits the DEFAULT storage clause, then the database creates a locally managed tablespace autoallocated. _ +
    + * _If the CREATE TABLESPACE statement includes a default storage clause, then the database considers the following: _ +.
    + O _If you specified AS MINIMUM clause, the database evaluates if MEASURE MINIMUM values, INITIAL, FOLLOWING are equal, and the value for PCTINCREASE is 0. If so, the database creates a locally managed tablespace uniform with size = INITIAL measurement. If the parameters to MEASURE MINIMUM INITIAL and NEXT are not equal, otherwise PCTINCREASE is not 0, the database ignores storage extent parameters you specify and creates a locally managed tablespace autoallocated. _ +
    + o _If you have not specified a MEASURE MINIMUM clause, the database evaluates only if the values of storage are the same INITIAL and NEXT and PCTINCREASE is 0. If so, the tablespace is locally managed and uniform. Otherwise, the tablespace is locally managed and autoallocated. _ +

    + The following statement creates a managed tablespace locally named lmtbsb and specifies AUTOALLOCATE: +.

    + CREATE TABLESPACE lmtbsb DATAFILE ' / u02/oracle/data/lmtbsb01.dbf' SIZE 50 +.
    + EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL AUTOALLOCATE; +

    + AUTOALLOCATE causes tablespace system managed with a volume of minimum extent of 64K. +

    + The alternative to AUTOALLOCATE is UNIFORM. who says that the tablespace is managed with uniform size extents. You can specify the size of the uniform SIZE clause. If you omit the SIZE, the default size is 1 M. +

    + The following example creates a tablespace with uniform extents of 128 K. (In a database with 2 K blocks, each would amount to 64 blocks of data). Each measure 128K is represented by a bit in the bitmap extent for this file. +

    + CREATE TABLESPACE lmtbsb DATAFILE ' / u02/oracle/data/lmtbsb01.dbf' SIZE 50 +.
    + EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL UNIFORM SIZE 128K; +

    + You can not specify the storage, TEMPORARY or MEASURE MINIMUM clause by DEFAULT when you explicitly specify EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL. If you want to create a locally managed temporary tablespace, use the statement to CREATE a TEMPORARY TABLESPACE. +
    +"+

    Hope that helps.

    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/A97630_01/server.920/a90842/ch13.htm#1009882

    Get command Loads a host operating system file into the SQL buffer.

    *The operating system file should contain a single SQL statement or PL/SQL block*.
    The statement should not be terminated with a semicolon. If a SQL*Plus command or

    I hope it is clear now. So if you want to run a script that may contain more then one of SQL statements, create a file * .sql, put all the instructions, complete with a semicolon and run as follows:

  • Unable to create cache with several tables group

    Hello

    I need to create a group of cache with several tables, which are referential to the other.

    There are 2 related tables and table 1 child...
    While trying this thing, it gives me an error:

    8222: multiple parent tables found

    It is not possible to use several tables of root in a single cache group? Is there another way to use it?

    Script, I used is:

    create a cache group asynchronous writethrough TEST. CG1
    of the TEST. ROOT1)
    KEY PRIMARY ID VARCHAR2 (8 BYTES),
    NAME VARCHAR2 (50 BYTE),
    DESCRIPTION VARCHAR2 (255 BYTE),
    POLICYTYPEID VARCHAR2 (7-BYTE)),

    TEST. ROOT2)
    PARAMTYPEID VARCHAR2 (5 BYTES) PRIMARY KEY,
    PARAMETERUSAGE VARCHAR2 (1 BYTE),
    NAME VARCHAR2 (25 BYTE),
    DESCRIPTION VARCHAR2 (255 BYTE)),

    TEST. CHILD1)
    PARAMDETAILID NUMBER (20) PRIMARY KEY,.
    ID VARCHAR2 (8 BYTE),
    PARAMETERUSAGE VARCHAR2 (1 BYTE),
    DISPLAYVALUE VARCHAR2 (255 BYTE),
    OPERATORID VARCHAR2 (5 BYTE),
    VENDORID NUMBER (20).
    FOREIGN KEY REFERENCES TEST. ROOT1 (ID),
    TEST KEY (PARAMETERUSAGE) REFERENCES STRANGERS. ROOT2 (PARAMETERUSAGE));

    You can't have multiple root within a group of cache tables. The requirements for tables in the group a cache are very strict; There must be only one top-level (root table) table and there may possibly be several children tables. Tables of the child should be linked through foreign keys to the root table or a child table above in the hierarchy.

    The solution for your case is among the tables of root and the other root table in a separate cache group and the child table in a cache group. If you do this, you must take care of a few things:

    1. you cannot define foreign keys between the tables of groups of different cache in TimesTen (keys may exist in Oracle) so the application must enforce referential integrity itself for these cases.

    2. If you load data in a cache group (using LOAD the GROUP CACHE or "load we demand") and Timesten will not automatically load the corresponding data in the other group of cache (since he doesn't know the relationship). The application must load the data into the other group of cache explicitly.

    There is no problem with transactional consistency when changes are pushed to Oracle. TimesTen maintains and reinforces the coherence transactional regardless of how the tables are arranged in groups cache correctly.

  • 'Create table' is not possible with Jet.OLEDB.4.0

    I use LabVIEW Toolkit DB to access databases.

    I opened an access database of microsoft with the connection string "Provider = Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source = C:\test3.accdb".

    When I exeucted

    create table leq_octave_5min (recorded_time DATETIME CONSTRAINT PRIMARY KEY pk1,

    L10 FLOAT L10 CONSTRAINT NOT NULL,.

    I got an error saying "error ADO: 0x80040E14.

    I have not had any problems with an ODBC driver.

    Why make such a mistake with Jet OLE DB?

    A web page was told that MIN and MAX are reserved words of Jet 4.0.

    So I defined with [and].

    Then, after it works.
