Need to exchange the product key of Windows 7 with Windows XP

Hi... I bought a windows 7 Professional, but I use windows xp pro... the problem is that the product key of windows 7 will not work on windows xp... I have a program that works under windows xp and so I need to activate my windows xp... is it possible that microsoft will grant a scholarship or exchange of product keys?

Original title: product key problem

I would say no, but you never know unless you ask. If you do not, contact the Head Office of your area, but don't do it with any hope of a positive outcome.

You can run "XP mode" in Windows 7 Professional, who can make such a useless Microsoft request...

    Hello

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

I would like to ask you:

    • Did you buy Windows 7, or was it pre-installed on your PC?

If you bought a copy of Windows 7, you must have the drive and the product key is on the cover of the disc or the disc itself.

If Windows was preinstalled on your PC, there could be a sticker anywhere on the system with a product key to this topic.

Note: Not all PC makers provide the key on a sticker on the machine body. You may need to contact them for the same thing.

  • Can I re-use the product key of Windows 7 on my machine after downgrading?

Someone gave me a desktop computer with the original Windows 7 which has been downgraded to XP. I used it until the end of Windows XP support. My question is can I reuse the product key of Windows 7 on the machine and put Windows 7 on? Activation will fail and I would put Windows 7 for nothing?

It works perfectly, yes you can do it.  But to put Windows 7 on it, you will need to use either

    (A) the original Windows 7 OEM disc provided with this computer

    or

    (B) recovery partition integrated guidelines of the manufacturer to restore the original Windows 7 OS

    --

The reason is that the product key on the computer is linked to this kind of OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer, like Dell or Acer).  If you cannot use any Windows 7 CD-ROM drive with this code. It must be the disk or installer that came with this code.

  • Sticker is worn off laptop so impossible to get the product key for Windows 7

Original title: what is this windows - x 15-54456

I bought a laptop and dispelled sticker a lot so that it remains a key and windows code

It's just the number that defines the product chain just, either OEM, retail, Volume Licensing.

If the COA sticker is damaged, your options include the use of the recovery partition to reinstall Windows 7, which exonerates the need to use the product key on the COA sticker:

New computers coming often pre-installed with Windows 7 have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

If your recovery partition is not available or damaged, you must contact the manufacturer of your computer, and request that a defined recovery disk you can use to reinstall Windows 7. They could practice a small shipping and handling.

    ------------------------------------

This is how the recovery partition is available for the most popular brands

For Dell, press CTRL + F11 directly after switching on the device

For HP, press F11 directly after switching on the device

For Toshiba, press and hold "0" BEFORE and during the power upward

For Acer, press and hold ALT + F10, as soon as you see the logo

For Asus, press F9, as soon as you see the Asus logo.

Advent, restart your computer. Then, press F10 repeatedly until the message "Starting system recovery"

  • I need to change the product key

We work with images here and we have a lot of machines that are identical.  We have activated Windows on the original image and did all the updates before creating the image.  Now, when we use this same image, it is still saved and activated with the initial machine where the image has been created, but the key to use is different because it is another computer with a new Microsoft Windows XP sticker (certificate).  I used the "KeyUpdateTool_enu" downloaded directly from Microsoft and after you enter the new key, it says that it cannot update the key.

I tried the msoobe /a registry proposed on the site of Micrsoft hack and it says that Windows is already registered.

So what I want to do is to just change the product with a new key.  The key corresponds to the version of Windows, so this isn't the problem.

    Thanks in advance.

Suddenly this week 7 Windows has stopped working and the error message said I might have a non-genuine copy, etc.   I checked the product key by using the Start/computer/properties menu. The product key was not the same as on my PC, so I tried to get the right version. Then I got the error message that you have entered the product key will not work with this edition of Windows 7, and I want to run Windows 7 set up or enter a professional product key.

I saw that someone else had been advised to run MGADiag.exe so I've already did but am puzzled by the report.  And I'm worried, why me nice Acer desktop PC suddenly did that, when he had worked happily with normal updates etc.  The report shows a different product to the label of my PC key.

    Can someone help, please

    Thank you
