Need to identify a character formatting

Hello! Could someone help me identify the character formatting in the perforated Cap? I don't know if it's a text wrapping or a lock of rest of the implementation of an image, but I can't remove it and he is creating a gap in my text.

Thank you!

Hello Kristen,

the good news is: nothing is locked on your progress.
You should see a lock in the second column next to the symbol of the eye.

If the empty text block could be identified by clicking on the "eye" icon in the layers panel to make it invisible/visible.
Or you can click on the small "bullet" on the right icon to select it directly on the page.

I see you have three blocks of text with generic to choose names.

Kind regards
Uwe

    This question was asked back in the beginning of ' 09 ("aught 9 ' as the former toady will probably tell someday). It seems that there is a work around at the time. I wonder if advanced in years and versions of software have given rise to another method.

    I want to do exactly as the opus... updated styles para (body) to a smaller font size. I want to emphasis and character formats corresponding to my new [small] para format size body similar to now. Is it possible to do without the addition of a new character format and do a find/replce between old and new formats?

    Redefine the character format

    March 30, 2009 12:14 AM

    Hello

    I need to change a character format which is currently 10pt Courier to adapt the size of the police of underlying paragraph format, for example Courier 12pt to the body of the text and Courier 10pt to table text, Courier 9 pt bottom and so on.

    When I update the format of size set to according to East, existing to stay at 10 PT, instances which is consequent that the text was before 10pt. Is it possible to change the format to use the font size to default paragraph for all existing instances with less effort than to apply formats again to all instances?

    With the help of FM 8.0p277 on Windows XP.

    Thanks in advance for any advice.

    It works perfectly and solved the problem. Thank you, Ron.

    Looks like the size was precise defined in the tag of character instead of AsIs. In this case, you shoot yourself in the foot by changing the size of paratag.

    If you have already changed your paragraph tags and to see what happened, then you have some cleaning to do.

    What will work is, in an instance of the tagged content, explicitly change the size in designer character for what is necessary, and then click all to update. Then update this definition of new character tag to be AsIs for the font size (and most of the other features) and remove the replacements. The tagged content should now change if you change the paratag font sizes.

    Repeat for the other character tags.

    However, if you have not done anything yet, then in the Character Designer of simply change all relevant tags to have a size of AsIs and update everything to remove overrides. Nothing has to change visually at this stage. Then, when you change the font size of paratag, character tags will now change size as a result.

  • Technique to undo a character format request?

    Hello

    Seems that the answers to complex questions are a little sparse in these areas, but I'll try again anyway

    I wonder if there is no reliable technique cancel a request for character format change; in other words, the properties apply to a range of text with SetTextProps(). It's pretty simple to remember a list of original properties (PropVals) and the original text (TextRange), then reapply the original properties at all. However, within a range of text, each character can have its own set of properties. Then, remembering a set of original properties is not enough... seems I have to retain the properties of every single character in the range, the character-by-character, reapply in order to ensure that the new application of the property is completely broken.

    When you apply a character format in the GUI, FM probably allows cancellation, restore each character assigned to its original state. Surely it is not remembering a PropVals table for every single character (?)  I wonder if there is something else here. It is quite possible that if FM uses internally something else, it is not I can reproduce easily.

    Thank you

    Hi Russ,

    If you use a GetText method and the Constants.FTI_CharPropsChange, you should get an array of text elements where each element has a specific set of properties. You should be able to save those for a later restore. There should be no need to record every single character properties.

    A complete answer would require that we know what "word processing" you use.  However, one of the types of files that are acceptable as 'pdf', you can install 3rd party freeware "CutePDF Writer" on your computer:

    CutePDF: <> http://www.cutepdf.com/products/cutepdf/writer.asp >

    Note that you need to install CutePDF and Ghostscript (both on the site) on your machine.  After you do, you will find that you have another printer on your computer named "CutePDF Writer".  Print the file of word processing for this virtual printer.  When you do so, it ask for a place to store your PDF file.  Give it a name and location, and it will create a PDF file for you.   Excellent Freeware (among my top 10) and works with any application you can print from.  Especially good for saving recipes online so that you don't waste any ink/paper.

  • Why FM lose the hyperlink works in TOC after the character formats? Or is there a workaround?

    I work in a FrameMaker book.

    Chapter 1 uses heading1 while in the text for Heading1 there is a letter setting out with a character format "sup".

    In the table of contents (TOC), I find the letter outlining perfectly once again, but the hyperlink is no longer.

    Example:

    Hello, this is my < sup > top negative > title 1 title

    In OCD I also find the same text properly, but of the 'up' to the end of the line, the hypertext link no longer works. In FrameMaker or PDF file, I write.

    I tested it with FrameMaker 12 and 13 in the German version and on FrameMaker 7.2 English version.

    Is there a solution?

    Hmmm. I'm guessing that the solution is to fix in Acrobat after you create the final PDF file with the link tool. Here is the operation of text links in FrameMaker:

    • If a Hypertext marker is a paratrooper without a character tag, the whole paragraph is the hotspot.
    • If a hyperlink marker is inside a character in Pará, the hotspot is the limits of the character tag.

    In your situation, the marker will appear at the beginning of the line and the character tag is also across the page and it didn't is not in any way that I know to change.

    Hello

    1. are you able to install other programs with any problem?

    Note that this problem may occur if the windows are not enabled on your computer.

    You can also try to install this program as an administrator and check whether the problem is resolved.

    To do this:

    a. make a right click the Setup file.
    b. Select run as administrator.

    This can also happen if the customer's account is a standard account and if there are too many process running in the background.

    Try troubleshooting with a clean boot on this issue to see if we can identify a program or driver causing the problem you are experiencing.

    A clean boot to start Windows with some programs and drivers off or on selection. By doing this through trials and errors we can hopefully identify a specific cause of this problem. Here's how to solve problems with a clean boot:

    Clean clean boot.

    1. click on start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.
    The user account control permission.
    If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type
    password, or click on continue.
    2. in the general tab, click Selective startup.
    3. under Selective startup, clear the check box load starting points.
    4. click on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable all.
    5. click on OK.
    6. When you are prompted, click on restart.
    7. after the computer starts, check if the problem is resolved.

    If the problem is resolved, make sure what third-party program is at the origin of the problem, referring to the link given below:

    Reset the computer to start as usual.
    When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:
    Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER.
    If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue. On the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

  • GREP query that changes character format

    I am trying to create a GREP query that finds an uppercase K surrounded by parentheses - like this: (K). I was able to do this, while in the GREP find what I \(K\)

    I need to change that to (K) with the letter K, changing to a different font or a character style; the bracket must remain in the same font as before, correspondents in the rest of the paragraph. I see that I can change the format in the dialog GREP, but if I do, it changes the format of the parenthesis as the K. The police that I need to change the K is a police photo.

    If anyone can help with a suggestion on this, I would really appreciate it.

    A small detail, I hope. I left out that the Lookbehind/advanced search functions are functions of Research , does not replace.

    The text to search for in the field of text GREP find, not in the regular discovery. Then, make sure you change for the field is empty - drag your mouse above and if you see something selected, press DELETE. Just because you put something in the change of Format, InDesign knows he should not replace the text with nothing, but apply to the formatting instead.

  • Need to identify the model A100 to select the good BIOS update

    Good morning to all and thanks in advance for any whole made :-> assitance

    My question is this:
    How to identify the exact model of a Satellite A100 PSAAxx series laptop?

    Reason:
    I need to update the BIOS and I'm uninclined to simply apply the updates, I could get for fear of turning it into a brick.

    What I know:
    There is some time, my wife and I bought a used Satellite A100 - in good working condition, but warned that he has 'problems' with USB ports driver. The time has come to address the issue of the USB, and the upgrade of the BIOS seems to be a good starting point.

    At the time of purchase, the label with the model number and the number of harem on the bottom of the system was quite readable - unfortunately, this label has subsequently lost all 'tailor-made' (we know what the fields are called by all useful information has disappeared).

    It is a Toshiba Satellite A100 (I have discs recovery and thus marked user manual).
    The user manual specifies the model number PSAAxx.
    CPU: Celeron M 1.4 GHz
    RAM: 704 MB
    HD: 40 GBbyte
    Graphics card: ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 M Series
    BIOS: v1.20 2008-12-12

    Any suggestions gratefully received

    Hello!

    To identify what A100 you exactly, you can use Toshiba PC Diagnostic. If you have installed the laptop with the recovery disk, this tool is installed too.

    If you n t have PC diagnosis, you can also download:

  • Do I need a new license to format my PC?

    I use win vista Home premium... If I nest to format my pc should I buy a new license? Pls help me

    If you already have a license, you need not to buy another. You can reinstall Windows as often as you want.

    However, reformatting and reinstalling Windows because you have a problem are almost always a very bad answer to the problem and almost bever should be done. It is usually very difficult and often causes its own problems.

    With a minimum of care, should never be to reinstall Windows (XP or any other version). I ran Windows 3.0, 3.1, WFWG 3.11, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 now, each for the period of time before the next release is out and everyone on two or more machines here. I never reinstalled none of them (with one exception--a problem that I worked on for weeks without success), and I've never had anything more than an occasional minor problem.

    It is my belief that this erroneous notion comes from the technical support people in most of the major OEMs. Their solution to almost any problem, for they know not quickly answer is "reformat and reinstall. It is the ideal solution for them. It gets you phone turned off quickly, it almost always works, and it does not need to do any real troubleshooting (a skill that most of them has obviously not in any great degree).

    But it leaves you with all the work and all the problems. You must restore all backups of your data, you must reinstall all of your programs, you must reinstall all Windows and updates of the application, you must locate and install all the necessary drivers for your system, you will need to recustomize Windows and all your applications to work the way you are comfortable with.

    In addition to all these things being long and painful, you may encounter difficulties with some of them: you will find all your CDs application? You will find all the necessary installation codes? You have data backups to restore? You still remember all the customizations and settings that can be installed to make everything work the way you like it? Sometimes there are problems that are so difficult to resolve that Windows has to be reinstalled properly. But they are few and far between; RESETTLEMENT should not be a substitute for troubleshooting; It should be a last resort, to do that once all other troubleshooting by qualified person attempts have failed.

    And perhaps most important: If you reformat and reinstall without knowing what caused your problem, you will most likely repeat the behavior that caused it and quickly find yourself in exactly the same situation.

    If you have any problems, post the details of them here; It is likely that someone can help you and you won't have to reinstall.

  • How to use the find method to search for character format substitutions and FMP?

    I strongly suspect that I should be able to use the find method to search for paragraph substitutions and format as these options are available in the Find dialog box. However, because of the excruciating Extendscript documentation from Adobe, I not was able to find the key pieces of information that I need. I found these constants:

    • Constants.FV_FindPgfFormatOverride
    • Constants.FV_FindCharacterFormatOverride

    But he has literally no information about them. It is not yet a definition, so I'm actually just a guess. However, I think that I need to somehow use these constant within the parameters of the Find method. Any ideas on how to do it?

    You're right, there are still some bugs to work out of the documentation, although it has already improved since I started w / Extendscript last summer.

    Find two constants must be defined as the ival for a PropVal FindObject, for example:

    var myDoc is app. ActiveDoc;

    var docStart = myDoc.MainFlowInDoc.FirstTextFrameInFlow.FirstPgf;

    tloc var = new TextLoc(docStart,0);

    var findParams = AllocatePropVals (1);

    findParams [0].propIdent.num = Constants.FS_FindObject;

    findParams [0].propVal.valType = Constants.FT_Integer;

    findParams [0].propVal.ival = Constants.FV_FindCharacterFormatOverride;

    myDoc.Find (tloc, findParams);

    Depending on what you're trying to accomplish, you can also take a look at the property FormatOverride of the Doc, bmp and item objects.
