  You can only use the hidden partition option if your HP was origonally provided with a hidden restore partition. HP support for your specific model site should have the instructions.

  Default you would either need to replace the failed drive, use a third party external cd drive, or depending on your HP, you can copy the complete installation cd to a USB key then boot from the USB key to install (if supported by your HP) or finally your HP with another PC on the network can install via the other PC cd drive

If I get the Windows Advanced Options menu screen, I can't move the highlighted selection to go in safe mode. System seems to freeze. Does anyone have a solution? Also tried F8, F2, F10 & F12 key. If I can get the Office recognize the resettlement drive, I can finish the job. It would be great!
