Reinstall Windows Vista Home Premium without CD (broken CD player)

My mother needs to reinstall Windows Vista Home Premium on a HP Pavilion, but cannot use the CD because the CD player is broken. I read that there is a way to make it through a hidden partition, but I did find something that gives clear step by step I can follow. If someone has done what can give me a clear set of guidelines? Is it safe to use option? I remember that you try to use a hidden partition on my old Dell, but it failed and I ended up having to borrow a CD. I won't make the same mistake on his computer, where with the help of a CD is not an option.

Also, are there - other - options, such as reinstalling from a USB stick or something? If so, how do you go?

Thank you

May

You can only use the hidden partition option if your HP was origonally provided with a hidden restore partition. HP support for your specific model site should have the instructions.

Default you would either need to replace the failed drive, use a third party external cd drive, or depending on your HP, you can copy the complete installation cd to a USB key then boot from the USB key to install (if supported by your HP) or finally your HP with another PC on the network can install via the other PC cd drive

  • I need to reinstall Windows Vista home Premium, but I don't have it on the disc, I got a serial number.

I've upgraded to windows 7, the upgrade requires a previous version of windows must be installed before it can be used.

When I installed the upgrade first, it worked perfectly, unfortunately I do not have a set of recovery discs before upgradeing from Vista to 7 (stupid I know!).

I bought the components to upgrade my PC and want to reinstall windows, but cannot without Windows Vista Home Premium disc, and I can't find anywhere to download them, or find someone willing to let me copy their discs (I only need a copy discs, I have my own serial number).

True to form, I also forgot to make disks of backup to my laptop before it got a virus (edition windows Home premium), feeling very stupid.

That you have a legable Vista product key, then use these installation files to make a .iso and then bootable DVD/USB as shown here:

    http://en.community.Dell.com/support-forums/software-OS/w/microsoft_os/Microsoft-Windows-and-Microsoft-Office-downloads.aspx

This will install Windows Vista with the activation of the phone. Note using your Windows 7 update product key directly with the good Windows 7 .iso file directly should work and you should not need to install Vista. You can, or perhaps not to activate by phone.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can borrow and use a DVD Vista Microsoft (selling retail or OEM System Builders License), which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

The COA sticker is either or in the battery compartment on the underside of the laptop.

With a desktop computer, it's on the side, the back or the top of the computer case.

  • Reinstalled windows (Vista Home Premium upgrade), will not let me activate

I had to reformat/reinstall windows on my Vista Home premium computer, but now when I try to activate, I get an error indicating that the upgrade cannot be used for clean installation. That's fine, because I know that the activation of the phone will operate, but I can't find a phone number for the activation of the phone. When I do the slui.exe 4, he'll need just to options where it asks me to put in the code, then gives me just the error message. He will never give me the option for the offline or activation of the phone (I even tried to unplug my internet). I'm looking for a phone number to get it activated...

The best thing for you to do is repeat the installation, this time as an upgrade of the current, ensuring that you enter the key on request the installation - it should then accept and activate normally.

  • Can I use a number of product key finder instead of the number on the sticker to reinstall windows vista Home premium?

The sticker on the bottom of the laptop is half faded way so I don't have the original full product key number, the one I have from a product keys finder is different of course it will still work when you perform a full system restore?

If your Vista is pre-installed when you purchased your computer, you have an OEM version. The only correct product key for your computer is attached to your computer.

The game of product key that you got through the software 'key finder' will NOT work for you.

Contact the manufacturer of your computer. Ask what follows...

    1. a set of recovery disks. The cost is minimal, and the money will be well spent. You can use the set to restore your computer to factory State.

    2. ask to talk to a technician. Ask technology to teach you how to access your recovery Partition and use it to make the recovery of the system. They installed the recovery partition, not Microsoft. They know exactly how to use it.

The advice above do not require using the product key.

  • How can I get a valid Windows Vista Home Premium product key for my Acer Aspire 5050?

My hard drive failed in my Acer Aspire 5050.  Replaced, reinstalled Windows Vista Home Premium with the appropriate product key, but Microsoft says that it is invalid.  Microsoft wants to buy me a new copy of Windows & there is no available from Acer for my laptop recovery disk.  What can I do?

The product key on the bottom of the laptop is an OEM product key.  This product key does not work for the commercial versions of the operating system.  The original shipping charge might work on the system without entering a product key.

If you did not, or are no longer able to get the recovery media, you will have to buy an operating system of your choice for the installation.

    Hey Bireshwari

a vista recovery disc you already have is one of the ways that you normally use on a preinstalled vista machine to reinstall

you start from the recovery disk

to boot from the dvd drive to be able to you will see a way to get into the bios Setup at the bottom of the screen or command menu start

It would be F2 or delete etc to enter the BIOS or F12 etc. for the start menu

Change boot order it do dvd drive 1st in the boot order

If this is not the good disk read this information below

Contact the computer manufacturer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

you would normally press F10 or F11 or Alt + F10, 0 at startup to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer

Ask them of the exact key sequence

or borrow a microsoft dvd vista

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed

Save all data, because it will be lost, do the above
