Need to update the BIOS

Lenovo x 201 3249cto, 4 GB ram, 128 GB SSD, win7 64-bit

Is it better than BIOS upgraded when the new Version of BIOS is made available?

My installed Version - the 1.23

New Version available - 1: 31 (do not have)

Also, what is the easiest way and install upgrade the BIOS if necessary?

If your laptop works well, then there is no need the BIOS upgrade.

The laptop works very well, but for some reason any with the new processor fan runs always full.

A lot, I searched but found nothing.

    Hello

First of all: update BIOS doesn t help you.
Why do you think that BIOS update should help reduce the activity of fan?

I guess that your new processor is faster. Right?
So it offers more performance and this leads to higher heat dissipation... so finally the CPU must be cooled and this can be done only if the cooling module would turn faster you agree with me?

By the way: the update of the BIOS is on the page of the Toshiba UE driver. Since the satellite Pro A120 is very old series, you will need to search for drivers in area Archive (Type of product-> Archive)

Is it necessary to update the prior consent of BIOS install the new OS? I read that there is a BIOS update Fa? ¼r VISTA64bit available, but none that I discovered for Win7 64 bit.

    Can give you a hint?

I am confident and happy to own a laptop as powerful but this not filled OS named VISTA makes me nuts more in addition to reading all these great reports about the benefits of Windows7!

    Hello

Is there a BIOS for Vista 32 bit and 64 bit.
There is no special Win 7 BIOS.

If you want to install Win 7 64 bit, I advise to use the BIOS for Vista 64-bit. If you want to install Win 7 32 bit-> choose vista 32-bit BIOS.

Generally, it should be possible to upgrade the BIOS under Win 7 so, but because that it s a BIOS for the Vista operating system, I recommend upgrading the BIOS in Vista.

    Hello Debbie

There is no such thing as SPA10 satellite. You either have Satellite A10 or P10. Please check on the label at the bottom of your laptop. Correctly identify your laptop model and you will find everything you need on Toshiba download page.

  • Satellite Pro A60 - update the BIOS without OS

    Hello

Why you need to update the BIOS?
I doubt that XP installation says that you need to update.

Normally the update of the BIOS is a bit risky and must be that if she of really necessary. In addition the update of the BIOS can only be done from Windows. There is no DOS version, they available only authorized for service providers.

    Hello

If you are sure that you have chosen the right BIOS for this series of cell to 100%, the problem must be related to a missing Toshiba software that is needed to update the BIOS.

As mentioned above; the common modules must be installed if you are using Win XP.
VAP is necessary if you are using Win Vista or Win 7

But as far as I know that the software Win 7 or Vista came out to this old series Tecra so, possibly, you can update the BIOS only ruin Win XP.

  • Tecra 8000, update the bios

I do not have a disk station and I can't update bios 9.10 at 9: 30 a.m. - trad. I made a boot cd with the update of the bios, initiated from this cd and started the .exe. The program starts and asks you the .bin file and I typed it correctly. The update seems to be made and it recharges cell phones, but the bios is always 9.10. There is no error message that comes up on the screen. I need to update the bios, because I have to install another hard drive.

    The problem is resolved.
First of all, I updated from version 9.10 at 9.20 with a bootable cd and I've updated to version 9.30 with another bootcd.

    HOWTO:

    1. create a bootable cd with the files that are in the version of the bios zip 9.20 file. Put the cd in the drive and start the laptop (make sure the laptop starts on the cd). Type CHGBIOSA at the command prompt, when the program asks you the file, type BIOFC1AT.COM.

    2. create a bootable cd with the files that are in the version of the bios 9.30 zip file. Put the cd in the drive and start the laptop. Type CHGBIOSA at the command prompt, when the program asks you the file, type BIOFC1AT.COM (do not EC04F150 type. WELL, it did not work here).

  • Qosmio G30 PQG31E - no driver XP 32? Cannot update the BIOS?

As usual, obtained a computer laptop, but no recovery CD :(

Got 32 installed XP (my Microsoft contract does not MCE) but a lot of missing drivers. Driver Toshiba page has all the drivers for XP MCE, XP 32 has only BIOS update, Bluetooth, HD - DVD firmwares, the virtual sound and drivers WI - FI!

So I tought "Vista on this issue", but I checked the compatibility XP with Vista DVD I got a 'need to update the BIOS' (always a 1.40-2006/03/10)!
My problem is that BIOS update always returns "this computer is not supported! Laptop has only one account, this isn't permissions problem, perhaps because many drivers are not present? Can I update the BIOS in safe mode?

What now? Am stuck with a brick of Qosmio? Without controllers LAN to say the least, I can't not fact! Drivers XP MCE does work on XP 32?

    Any thoughts?

    Hello

I found all the Win XP drivers for Qosmio G30 PQG31E!
On the European driver Toshiba page, you can find the Win XP MCE drivers
XP MCE drivers are the same drivers for Win XP Home or Pro.

There are also some BIOS 3, 90-WIN and this BIOS is operating system independent. In other words, it works with Win XP and Vista...

To update the BIOS the common Module must be installed
You can find also on the European driver Toshiba page!

  • Portege M400: Could not update the BIOS after installing Vista

    Hello

I have improved my M400 for Vista.

I am trying to install all drivers Vista of Tosh. According to the instructions, the first thing to do is to update the bios.

So, I download the bios (v3.60) on the site and run the .exe, but he tells me that I need the common modules.

The only common modules that I can find on the Tosh site are for XP.

    Can anyone help?

    Thank you

    Steve

You will probably need to update the BIOS before installing Vista on the laptop.
Then, you could install Vista again.

  • Satellite A110 - update the BIOS for Windows 7?

Hello. I found two drivers support page to your versions of BIOS for my Toshiba Satellite A110:
    01/21/09
    Update the BIOS
Toshiba Windows Vista 32 bit 5, 40 - WIN World Wide
    01/21/09
    Update the BIOS
Toshiba OS independent 2, 00 - WIN World Wide

In 'other info' page on first bios there is a warning that this version is only for windows vista, and on the second page 'other info' he warns, that this version is not compatible for notebook computers equipped with Windows Vista.
My first question is what this means? If I have OS Toshiba idependent 2.0 BIOS will not install Vista?

My second and more important question is what version of bios should I install if I now use WINDOWS 7 32 bit?

    Hello

    > My first question is what this means? If I have OS Toshiba idependent 2.0 BIOS will not install Vista?
You should be able to install Vista using BISO 2.0 but maybe your laptop will generate some questions
So you need to update the BIOS to 5, 40 - WIN version if you want to use Vista OS.

If you want to use Win 7 on your laptop then you must first install the Win 7 OS and then you should check out how Windows 7 is running

    Welcome them

  • Equium A110-276: can I update the BIOS when installing Vista?

I don't know where to post this...

"I have a clean install of Windows Vista on my satellite A110-276. I have to update the BIOS or not? Is - mandatory/mandatory BIOS update?

    Hello

It seems that Toshiba has released a special version of the BIOS for Windows Vista.
If you want you can check it on the page of the Toshiba driver.

But if your Vista runs correctly on the computer laptop with the previous version of BIOS you n don't need to update the BIOS.
I recommend updating BIOS, if any odd operational behavior will appear.

  • Basic Windows file to update the BIOS

After starting to run the update stops with the message "you must be logged in as an administrator to install this update".

I am the administrator only this computer has ever known... using Vista Home Premium 32 bit and try to update the BIOS before migrating to Windows 7.  The computer is HP a6040n desktop.

    Wow.

Well, the only other suggestion I can offer is to display the 'true', DL administrator account and run the file from there.  I would always make a right click on the file and run as a staff.

    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/enable-the-hidden-administrator-account-on-Windows-Vista/

FWIW, I don't even see that he needed to update the BIOS. There is absolutely nothing in the release notes which adds support for W7.

    Fix/development

    • Corrects the display of the set-up Menu of the BIOS for SATA Port, 2 and 3.
    • CPU microcode updates.
    • Updates AWDFLASH v115M for SPI MXIC Flash Support.

Unless you are considering upgrading the processor, a BIOS flash is not required to run W7.

Also, I have to do something else before installing?

    Thank you very much.

You don't need to update the BIOS first, but we highly recommend it.
