• Availability of the monitor with Netmonitor

  Hello

  I'll put up Netmonitor for monitoring some devices. Until now I just he followed a single device to test. For some reason it isn't send me an alert if I cut the communication to the device. All the settings are default, and made sure the rule is enabled. I don't know I'll be facepalming here in a minute when I have someone pointed out something quite obvious, but I am at a loss at the moment. I disabled the network card on the device, I'm following up on 15 minutes ago but still not alert. So far, I have installed the cart of the OS, created the Netmonitor agent and activated, edited the list of devices to include the device I want to monitor and make sure the rule is enabled. Is there another step I'm missing?

  In this case the error looks a bit different, looks like there is no list of devices, you can start the agent and then edited the list of devices (which requires a restart of the agent).

  Can you please disable the agent and reactivate it?

  You can also publish a snapshot of the screen that displays a list of devices?

• Groovy for import to NetMonitor agent hosts

  Somebody wrote a groovy script to take the contents of a csv file (file or other) and used to configure Foglight.

  I have a CSV file of the hosts who need supervision with a NetMonitor agent, I have a few groovy to update the agent, but I fight with the bit to read the contents of the CSV.

  There is a nice library of OpenCSV, but I can't seem to load (it is probably because of the way Groovy has been implemented in Foglight), any person responsible for the libraries of addition in Foglight groovy scripts?

  What about using a table of database as a data source (for the groovy) rather than the CSV file?

  You would need a script to load the CSV file into the database and on the side table FMS of things, use a simple rule to run a script on a schedule to remove the information from the table and update the lists used by NetMonitor.

  When you open the .zip file, there because different files for different operating systems, you must download on the inventory of cartridge that is suitable for your OS.

  

  Once you do this, you need to deploy the package to her agent to agent manager target.

  I've seen (especially on windows) cases where the target OS was not correctly and the operating system package NOT included in the list of available packages, in this case tick the checkbox 'Show packages for all platforms' and it will show all the packages that are.

• Using NetMonitor - Device_Unavailable via Fglam remote

  I recently installed a NetMonitor agent on a fglam that is away from the FMS.  It was my hope little fly my FMS load, so I created and configured a fglam distance and use that for tracking SQL Cluster instances, ect.  I also try to use the remote server to ping servers for up/down through the Device_Unavailable rule.

  I have set this up, but then realized that I can not go to the correct assignments because my registry definitions for servers are on my server FMS, alerts.  Is there a way to rule to order the registry values to take account of the SGF?  Or is it is easier to simply implement a NetMonitor FMS?

  That sounds right, but make sure that the type of scope of the rule you are targeting is the scope that you configure values of specific instances of this type in the registry. I guess that the type was NetMonitor_ServiceLevels, but that's a guess on my part.

  To deploy the OS cartridge on new platforms such as Windows Server 2012 through the browser interface, you may need to enable the Show packets checkbox all platforms on the Agent Host dashboards or the status of the Agent show a package that is compatible with the platform.

  I have not seen the problem of 32-bit library occur on a Windows system before, I don't know if this could also be part of the question on Windows Server 2012, and what alternatives might be possible.

• NetMonitor Blackout

  I have a configured netmonitor that monitors the 200 + windows servers.  I'm trying to figure out how to hide individual servers on this list.  Thus, for example, we want to do now. on a server in the list.  I can't blackout agent because then all hosts are monitored.  I can't the blackout the host because the host is the host on which the agent is installed on.  I hope I am just something missing and it is an easy answer.  Thanks in advance guys

  I know it's not much of a fix, but in some cases affecting the time for a short period of time instead of the value default 4 hours help.

  In some cases, the query takes a long time and when you try it again once it works faster because the result of the query is already cached.

  If there are problems with the other pages too, it is possible that this is a general problem that requires the update (slowness of the DB, the JVM etc.) that can be addressed with the runing guide http://edocs.quest.com/foglight/565/files/FoglightPerformanceTuning_Field.pdf. or by opening a case of pension.

  Also, since Brian is a possible fix I recommend opening a case of pension to get a fix (if it exists).

• Number of IC & NetMonitor Agents by host

  Get recommendations on the number of IC and NetMonitor of agents that can be run safely from separate servers?  I'm trying to reach to my hardware configuration required for an upgrade of 5.5.8 5.6.5.  Plans are to use IC officers to replace most of the local fglam.  I'll run the hosts supporting the IC and NetMonitor agents on the virtual machines of the suggestions on the configuration of the VM would be appreciated.

  For the cartridge of the infrastructure, see the Foglight 5.6.2 Infrastructure Management cartridge - OS thread for suggestions/strategy for surveillance of a large number of guests.

  For legacy NetMonitor agent, the maximum limit is 512 devices by agent and is the recommended practical limit of 100 devices per agent according to the alerts when guests are not available.

  You can run several multiple agents by FglAM and FglAMs for each host, so there is some flexibility in terms of whether you want to run more images with few resources, or fewer images with more resources.

  The key factors are:

  -Hosts how do you intend to follow with the agent of IC?

  -How many devices do you intend to follow with NetMonitor?

  Note that the NetMonitor agent will be replaced this year.

  I use netmonitor to monitor the up/down for several groups of servers. When I was originally setting to the top of my list of device, so I created several groups of servers followed by the hosts. After some tests, I deleted a couple of these groups and created new ones. My problem is that the old bands that I deleted still appear in dashboards Netmonitor. Is there a way to get rid of these? I assumed they would be somewhere in the data management, but I don't see them.

• Network Monitor does not not on a whim

  I use Network Monitor to months and suddenly that it stops working today, the tab is still there and I checked devtools.netmonitor.enabled and the value is always true. The problem is the button to launch performance analysis does not respond to clicks, in fact even the filters on the bottom (HTML, CSS, HS, XHR) are not working as (by clicking on them normally should at least highlight in blue but now its totally insensitive to the user clicks)

  UPDATE: I solved the problem by resetting all values related to netmonitor and the problem goes away. I don't know why, the values are mixed however. That's why I'm scoring this issue as resolved, sorry for wasting space forum.

  It's a mystery to me how the DHCP server works on my WRT54G. If someone can explain how it works with Windows, while not following RFC 2131 I'll be indebted to.

  I connect a system with a proprietary OS using a wired connection. When the computer emits a package DHCP DISCOVER the router never responds. The router is an ARP for a new address and then adds the address in its routing table using the hostname of my computer!  Even my system now for this a DHCP REQUEST using that new address of the router still lies silent. Absolutely not, it meets all DHCP requests.

  When I use Microsoft Netmonitor, I send all packages are correct. If I look at a box XP get an address through DHCP, I see the same behavior. The router never answers but see Windows of the ARP by the router and guess that's there address and 3 gratuitous ARP before start using it.

  I am completely baffled by this non-standard behavior. Is there a way to get this router to follow together the Protocol as specified in the standard - including - DISCOVER, OFFER, REQUEST, ACK?

  I tried Wireshark on my Linux box connected via a cable incase the problem was with Netmonitor on an XP laptop wireless as you suggest.

  This time, when I booted the XP box, I saw the acknowledgement of receipt of the REQUEST. After a closer examination of the BOOTP header, I noticed the SHOW was set in the flags. I decided to put it in my package DISCOVER and it works according to the specification now!

  I thought that the use of this flag has been deprecated, but alas, I discovered a router he needs. Thank you for your help and for me to get on the road to the use of Wireshark.

  The new WebMonitor 5.6.10 came out with the Foglight 5.6.10 battery. Two notes of interest: (1), we accidentally used the same name as the legacy OS (WebMonitor, reasonably enough) basket. This upsets the FMS, if both are installed together. So, do not try it. :) We'll be fixing that by changing the new his name in the next Rev (2) the new agent currently cannot monitor resources https through a proxy, that will be fixed in a future release.

  An AppMonitor as feature is in the plans for the next major release of Infrastructure, alongside new NetMonitor and LogMonitor (replaces LogFilter). At the moment I think that all we need to add to the HostAgents for a characteristic AppMonitor is the ability to specify the process interesting in a secondary list of ASP and a rule as the rule of the availability of the process of the BONE wagon inherited, by http://edocs.quest.com/foglight/5610/doc/Cartridge/OSCartridge-ref/Rules.04.php#430311. If you would wait or need something else an AppMonitor replacement, it would be a great time to let me know. :)
