Network domain. How do I change this?

I need to change the domain of my mac network. I already did it for the dialog that is displayed when you open / system Ethernet/network/preferences/and press the button "Advanced...". ». On the DNS tab, I filled in the field of research. It worked. But - after a reboot, of course - system/network/Ethernet information still shows the old name "Responses from the DHCP server" and "DNS" domain as well.

The problem is that - according to our it guy - it prevents me to connect to the new Canon printer we just got to the office. :-(

Any help appreciated

Ueli

-------------

If your DHCP server assigns the fields of research, it replaces what you enter in the preferences window whenever the lease is renewed. The only way to avoid this is to stop using DHCP and assign yourself a static address instead, or even to change the configuration of the server. You will need the cooperation of the 'computer' or the other.
