Network locations
I use my computer vista laptop gear wireless installation. Whenever I plug it into a new piece of equipment Vista creates a new network. I have now over 100 networks. Is there a quick way to delete all of a sudden? I have them deleted manually, but the County does not lower. I have deleted 40 who has been a slow process, highlight select Remove and say yes to the warning. When I'm busy I may be implemented from 10 per day if the County fast enough incriments.
I'm looking for an edition of registry or a quick multiple removal of the networks listed.
Open network and sharing Center, and then click Customize next to a network. At the bottom of the window, click merge or delete network locations . Do you think the unwanted networks it? Boulder computer Maven

I also have this problem but I have domain controllers that are NOT part of this Hyper-V host. If I restart the network location awareness (which also restarts the network list Service) it goes back to the field as it should. Now when I reboot this server it will be once more put the interface / network to the public even if this Hyper-V server has been successfully joined to the domain with a static IP address.
Now for clarification. This Hyper-V server is NOT yet configured virtual. The only thing that has been set up is a NIC team with two cards on Board (LAN 3 & 4 ports) and two additional network cards four port card (ports 3 & 4). Local network connection is dedicated to LAN Port No. 1. We also have a dedicated of the IMM port for access to the Strip.
The ONLY time I can get this server to restart and STAY in the 'Domain' location is now if I have the PORTFAST enabled on the switch port to which it is connected. Yes, we use STP here in our company. This is not the first time that I had to do this, but it seems not just as a colleague claims that he didn't need to do and its technology Hyper-V server restarts fine. I him have had check it out and he sees no difference between its servers and mine. Still mine restarts always in the "public" unless I have active portfast. Any thoughts?

Error 1606: Could not access network location % APPDATA%\.
I am trying to install a game for Windows: Zoo Tycoon 2 Ultimate Collection (which is Zoo Tycoon 2 + 4 expansion packs), on a Vista Home SP2 machine. When you install disc 1, I almost immediately get the error above,Error 1606: could not access network location % APPDATA%\. I looked at the error on this forum, who led me to the installation page for the installation package located manual download page offline at the: http://www.java.com/en/download/help/error_installshield.xml. When I tried to install the offline installation package, I got the same error, 1606. I don't know what to do next? This game comes without a product key, this support won't even take my call. Thank you-
This problem occurs because there is incorrect entries in the Shell folder of the user who is logged on to Microsoft Windows. When Windows Installer goes to the sale of Shell folder of the user who is logged on to the computer, Windows Installer cannot locate the correct entry. The solution is inhttp://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/886549.
The steps to correct this problem involve editing the Windows registry. Change the settings of the REGISTRY can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the REGISTRY settings configuration can be solved. Changes to these settings are at your own risk. I suggest that you first back up your registry as follows: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Back-up-the-registry.
Here are the steps to fix it.
1. click on start, run, typeregedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
2. look for the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell dossiers\
3 remove the entries that show the path that is listed in the error message.
886549 KBhttp://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/886549: Regedit open again. In the left pane, click User Shell Folders, point tonew, click expandable string value, type the value name that you want to restore (AppData) and then press ENTER. Right click on this value, clickchange, type the value in the value data for the value name box, and then clickOK. The value data must be: % USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming.
Step 8 KB 886549 suggests that you also check the values in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders. However, by fixing my problem, I had not to change values in the registry key. If this does not work, follow ALL the steps in the referenced article.

Error 1606.Could access network location:
Hello! I am an employee of the hospital. Currently, I am trying to install a provider software on a machine that I have admin rights and get a "Error 1606.Could access network location:.." I've read about this error in the installation/uninstallation of microsoft product, could this work to outside vendor and software?
Is there something in the installation that needs to access something on your network? The best would be to contact the software vendor and ask them. I don't think that this would be linked to a windows problem.
I hope this helps.

"Could access the network location:.."

any suggestions?
I thought about it... have an external hard drive which I usually turned off when the use not. I tried to install everything with it on and it worked.
Thanks for your help -
Hi, I have really not much about computers, I'm sorry. I tried looking for answers myself but I do not understand much of the language and I don't know if I read the appropriate information.
I wanted to update my iTunes on my computer (Windows XP) but it doesn't seem to work when I searched for upgrades and click Yes, I want to update. Nothing happened.
So I uninstalled my iTunes and I tried to install iTunes 10. But when I did, I got an error message with the title of iTunes + QuickTime... say... couldn't access network location \common files\.
I uninstalled QuickTime, hoping that would help, but of course not knowing what I was doing. It did not help.
What I Googled, it seemed I had to look at something in the term. I arrived at the spot but have not seen any obvious errors. But then again, I had really no idea what I was looking at!
I would really appreciate if someone could help me with a language very very basic.
Thank you very much.

former title: network location settings. Discovery of NW. File sharing. public folder sharing. AVG 9.0 'tools' and network connections.
My Alltel Wireless device again set the network location. And continues to change my network settings for the discovery of NW to:, as well as file sharing for: file public and sharing: read-only. I have AVG Security 9.0 and under 'tools' and connections network shows several svchost with States reading service connections listening and unknown. I don't want no access to my computer and cannot find any computer consultants who can get this to stop. What can I do?
Hello1. the options apply automatically on?
2. have you made changes on the computer recently?
3. have you installed any Alltel Wireless application to manage network connections?4. What is the current network location type on? Is it home, work or public?Network discovery and file sharing settings depend on the network location. For examle, if you set the network as a public location it turn on file sharing. So I would ask you to turn all the parameters and then choose the type of network and check if the parameters change again.
Method 1.
I recommend you to check if the problem exists in clean boot. May be a third party application is causing these changes.
See the article below for instructions on how to start your computer in a clean boot state.
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
Note: When the diagnosis is complete, don't forget to reset your computer to normal startup. Follow step 7 in the above article.Method 2.
Also check the settings under tools in AVG security suite. You may need to check with the help of AVG on it.
Or you can disable the antivirus software and check if that causes this behavior.
Temporarily disable the security software installed on the computer and check if the problem persists.
Disable the anti-virus software
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software
Important note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
I hope this helps.Thank you, and in what concerns:

I got this error for a few months. Initially, I came across it trying to update Java, Adobe Reader and now RIM Blackberry Desktop Manager.
The specific error is "Error 1606 could access the network location:.", with the colon and the dot at the end. Therefore, it is difficult to know exactly what registry entry, it's.
I tried to change various registry keys and using a number of files of Microsoft "Fix it for me", but the error remains.
Can someone help me please identify the location of the network that weird symbols ":." to refer and possible to put an end to this problem once and for all?
I'd be happy to re - try fix if proposed as a possible solution. Thanks in advance.
Hello
1. What microsoft fix it did you try?
2. don't you make changes on the computer before the show? This problem occurs because there is incorrect entries in the Shell folder of the user who is logged on to Microsoft Windows. The steps to correct this problem involve editing the Windows registry.

A web site with the IIS configuration network location
Is there information on how to set up a web site to a network location. I have a shared directory of Mac that I have access to my Windows Vista pc. I have a Server IIS Web on this PC and want to test the Mac files with the IIS Web server on the Windows computer. I created a site in IIS and pointed on the shared drive, this resulted in an error: cannot read the web.config configuration file. I tried a different approach: create a local site to wwwroot, then create a virtual directory. This brought the same error: the requested page cannot be accessed because the configuration data of the page are invalid. I have IIS 7 on Windows Vista Business Edition.
